Re: Margaret Hodge Steps Down
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Hodge
She was effective as the Chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
She was appalling in her handling of the child abuse scandal in Islington, her dog whistle racism that boosted the BNP in Barking (and false claims about her role in defeating them in the 2010 election - others did the work), and her willingness to invent or amplify claims of antisemitism in order to get Jeremy Corbyn out of the Labour leadership (including antisemitic attacks on 'the wrong type of Jews'). If Labour applied its rules equally and fairly Hodge should have been suspended in 2018. Instead she was canonised by the national media and the majority of the PLP - and a couple of over active posters on here.
Good riddance in my view.

Re: Margaret Hodge Steps Down
In my book she was much more loyal and a better servant to Labour than Corbyn. Corbyn damaged the party not Hodge .

Margaret Hodge was a poisonous Blairite hypocrite.
Luciana Berger's claim is nonsense - runs counter to the findings of the Home Office Select Committee, the Chakrabarti Report, the EHRC Report and all the allegation and investigation evidence that has come out from the Legal & Governance Unit.
In fact most of the high profile allegations of antisemitism against Labour members turned out to be unfounded (after the mud had stuck and the press had moved on) although sometimes changed to 'bringing the Party into disrepute' as a replacement catch-all charge. There were and are instances of antisemitic behaviour or on line activity - but according to the all-party MP group at a lower level than society in general, and at a lower level than on the right of the political spectrum.
Ed Miliband was of Jewish heritage and he was elected Labour leader! His father Ralph was subjected to anti-semitic press attacks, led by the Daily Mail, who went on (with hypocrisy to match Hodge) to play a leading role in the 'antisemitism crisis' constructed around Corbyn and Labour.
Labours failure to ever elect a female leader is indeed a source of embarrassment if not shame. But not Hodge.

Yes you keep telling yourself there was no antisemitism on Corbyn's watch as leader .
Ask yourself why does the current leadership excepts its EXISTENCE AND EHRC independent findings , and why is Corbyn still suspended are they all part of your ever revolving Daily Mail conspiracy theory, you will be telling us next the EHRC are part of the evil Daily Mail axis , and they all report to some upper supreme society .
And Chakrabarti conveinant see nothing report into antisemitism was a classic Corbyn move that soon saw her in the House of Lords , oh yes cronyism rewards exists everywhere , yep straight out of the Tory playbook but delivered by the hypocritical Corbyn.

I said there was antisemitism ‘on Corbyn’s watch’. So did he. Corbyn also accepted the EHRC report. You seem to have an equal problem with words and with facts.
It is also clear from this and your previous posts that you have not read either the EHRC or the Chakrabsrti reports.

Knew it existed in Tory land , personally upsetting to see it exist in a Labour party , thought it was more of an inclusive party ,how wrong one can be bugger pragmatism and fairness .

And you clearly can't stop defending them , after countless suspension , resignations , TV investigations why oh why ?????
I presume from this you can forgive Boris then his behaviours as leader , as you clearly are forgiving of Corbyn a a leader .
Remind me why he is still suspended ????
Equalities and Human Rights Commission published its report, saying Labour had broken the law,
The Commission put some of the blame on "serious failings" under Jeremy Corbyn's leadership of the party.

I will defend the Labour Party from false allegations of antisemitism (as many of them were) and condemn the real examples of which there were too many. I have bothered to read the relevant reports and also a lot of the published information on allegations, investigations, suspensions and final outcomes. You have not. Most of the press coverage is as inaccurate and lazy as your posts. A large number of allegations were in response to criticism of Israeli war crimes, its official state ideology, defence of Palestinian rights, and comments on the scale of the real problem in the Labour Party - and that covers most of the high profile cases that got press coverage.
You are right in what you now say about the EHRC report - but I cited it to counter your support of Luciana Berger's claim that Labour is/was 'institutionally racist'. The EHRC report never said that. It did conclude that Labour under Corbyn had broken the law (in which case it has continued to do so under Starmer) but also acknowledged that some of the 'interference' from the leader's office was to speed up slow-timed investigations and that some of the process discrimination was suffered by members who were accused of antisemitism.
Corbyn is still suspended from the PLP (not the Labour Party) for factional reasons. There is no other justification.
I have said many times that I think Corbyn was a flawed leader with weaknesses, and he brought some of the crisis on himself by the way he handled it. But he is not an antisemite. Many of his critics are.
Jewish Voice For Labour is a network for socialist and antiracist Jews in the Labour Party, formed in 2017 and with several hundred members. It currently has 11 executive members, 10 of whom have been suspended or investigated for alleged antisemitism (two executive members recently died whilst still suspended). Jewish members of the Labour Party have been targeted and harassed much more than non-Jews through this crisis - and in almost every case it comes down to anti-Zionism being equated with antisemitism. The irony being that argument (equating the interests and identification of Jewish people anywhere in the world with the State of Israel) is itself antisemitic!
There are and were antisemites in the Labour Party. They should be thrown out. But the 'antisemitism crisis' is about something entirely different.

nope fact Equalities and Human Rights Commission published its report, saying Labour had broken the law.
Keir Starmer Has Apologised To The Jewish Community Following A Damning Anti-Semitism Report On A "Day Of Shame" For Labour
Equality and Human Rights ; Our investigation found that the Labour Party has committed unlawful acts
Formby “The Party does not have the same detailed breakdowns of figures for the period before 2018 as a comprehensive central complaints system was not in use.”
Conveniently Labour gave an account to the EHRC, which says the party “was not able to confirm the number of complaints made, or action taken on antisemitism complaints, until 2018 when it started to record this data”.
Yep lets avoid it and not record anything , Tory playbook stuff ,at least the current Labour leadership recognises the reality and facts and wants to fix it , speaks volumes.

I thought you were going to move on, but you decided to come back with another garbled pick 'n mix of distortions.
For what it's worth the Legal & Governance Unit of the Labour Party was dominated by anti-Corbyn staff throughout this period, but the beginning of a more effective recording and prompter investigation began in 2018 in response to interventions (criticised by the EHRC and the anti-Corbyn chorus) by Corbyn's office. He got a lot wrong but not that. However, the investigations continue to be a farce under Starmer and Evans - as a cursory glance at the cases made public will show. They are the subject of a new complaint to the EHRC from many of those falsely accused!
If you would bother to read some of this stuff you wouldn't have to rely on tabloid headlines for all your opinions!
Are you still baffled why the Labour Party never elected a leader of Jewish heritage?
Anyway, you got it wrong again, so let's move on.

Look in the mirror for the problem!

You need to read and digest more and not rely upon right wing propaganda to influence your thinking. Come on, you can do it if you try 👍

No denial at all; it's just that the truth is nowhere near as dramatic as the propaganda paints.

She is a vile former Blair Babe who stoked up a lot of vitriol against Jeremy Corbyn just because she hated his politics. Good riddance to her. I'm disappointed in you because I thought you were beginning to achieve enlightenment.

Yes there's lots. Some people and things in life are just pure vile. The enlightenment is in recognizing this and rejecting it. With my mentorship I feel confident you can achieve it.

Pedophiles are vile not life long socialists , hope that helps your distorted view of lifes behaviours.

Nothing more to add to this thread - just to point out that 75% of all threads on the Politics board are ended (killed) by a final LOM post.
I thought you had left this one, or at least were going to show some restraint.
But back you pop with another 'must have the last word' thrash.
Paedophiles are indeed vile. Margaret Hodge is not a life-long socialist. She is not a minute-long socialist. Her track record has been covered earlier. You are fully entitled to love her and identify with her politics, but please don't spray socialist perfume over her!

I agree with you entirely; paedophiles are vile, lifelong socialists are not. However, a self serving schemer like Margaret Hodge is also vile.
May I suggest it's your slim understanding of life's intricacies which is distorted? You're tieing your flag to the wrong mast here.

She is not your kind of socialist , why don't you tell her your thoughts directly and publish that an her reply .
How folk can use the word vile to Margaret Hodge is bewildering , sad, disrespectable ,not shocked though , it does highlight todays nasty political social media language , the lady is not vile or evil , simply has a different opposing views, those supporting the use of the word vile or making fun should consider of its is appropriate and would they make that comment to her face or away for the protection of this post and hidden identities .

Your not thinking straight , draw a breath , she is a socialist just not your type , this is not hard .
She still isn't vile .
You have laid out clear the issues that haunt the party and why it struggles to win power , how your going to cope and vote for Starmer's Labour will be interesting as there are a lot of fine Hodge type socialist contained with it ,one has recently been brought into a front line job and she would be a great Labour leader but won't appeal to certain socalist who dislike Hodge politics.

Margaret Hodge is NOT a socialist. This is not hard but you seem to be struggling. I imagine she would be as offended by that label as the real socialists who have been libelled and betrayed by her.
You are right that there are more like her in the Labour Party. Unfortunately.
'Vile' is not a word I have used about her - but some of her words and actions do fit that description.

I don't think youve ever thought straight in your life? How thick can you be? Someone needs to drip feed you! Margaret Hodge IS NOT a socialist. She is a vile, nasty, conservative piece of work. Dear God what do we need to do to get your brain working man?
