Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
There are a few useful managers out of work at the moment. Would you take Steve Cooper, perhaps? Nathan Jones, maybe, or Gareth Ainsworth? Okay, if not now, then what about at the end of the season? Would anyone be tempted, or is it too soon?
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
We are three points off the playoffs
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Why?
It's the quality of players in our squad not the manager. It will be a massive mistake to get rid of bullet
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Cooper is going to get a premier league job soon enough.
Jones no, Ainsworth? guess that’s a joke.
Bulut doing a good job, no manager is perfect. We need better players for sure.
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
There was a time Steve Cooper could have become our manager, but I think it’s passed now. Ainsworth? No thank you. Jones? Maybe, but things will need to get an awful lot worse before we get rid of Bulut I reckon - in fact, it could well be that we’ll need a new manager because he turned down a contract extension offer rather than us getting rid of him.
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Wums on this board have to improve.
People moaning about bulutball would have a fit watching Jones or ainsworth.
If genuine thread then no id stick with Bulut, shouldn't really be a conversation but from that list only cooper would be interesting, but you may as well have listed Zidane, Conte and Nagelsmann.
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
We have a decent young manager.

I'm not sure Vinnie rates him, he's Dalmans man, and there hasn't been any talk of a contract extension to my knowledge, although don't suppose that's any of my business really. Got a funny feeling that Tan is waiting to be convinced a bit more than he is right now.

Vinnie would get Joey Barton before any of those three.

Bulut is doing a decent job with the tools at his disposal
We have some deadwood to clear out and let’s be fair, there won’t be a long queue to sign any of them
I’d like us to sign Kane from Bayern Munch, but that isn’t going to happen
We have to be patient, let the manager clear the dross out and build slowly, and if that means we don’t get Kieffer Moore in January so be it.
If it were my money, I’d look at this and calculate what are real chances are of grabbing the 6th spot and in reality we’re miles away from that.
Bulut needs time to get the right players in and show what he can do, that doesn’t mean I’m happy or content with the type of performance we endured yesterday, its just reality
Based on the last few games we need two forwards, two decent midfielders, two versatile defenders and a winger plus Ramsey back!! Before we start thinking seriously about a top 6 finish
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Could you imagine having to listen to Jones' voice at every presser....?

Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Ainsworth, are you taking the piss

The jury is still out for me on Bulut BUT he does need time to get the right players in. Killer question - does he have the ability to (let's assume suitable funds were made available). We don't know, so if we are sensible as a club, we should give him the chance. Otherwise we continue the merry-go-round of manager swaps.
He didn't have funds in the summer so not really fair to judge him on the players that came in. In my view I am impressed with a few (Goutas has been very good for us) not so with some others.

Ainsworth :hehe:
The other two are decent but Bulut is going nowhere.

Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Ainsworth ffs :hehe:
Wouldnt put it past Tan though.

You would like to think the only club in Cardiff interested in Ainsworth would be PopWorld.
You're right about Tan though.

Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
I think Bulut is doing a good job with what he's got. I would take Cooper but we got no chance of landing him now.

I would imagine most fans would prefer a Cooper switch, but it seems a 1% chance if that, he could get a job at many clubs in a far better position than we are.

Bulut
Give him a season after this to see what he does
He had very little time to sort things out
A striker a midfielder
Even two signings could shape us up
We need stability at this football club ff sake

Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
I don’t think Bulut will be able to work for Vincent Tan anymore after this. Having said that what capable, independent manager will.

Sadly, I think you're right.

Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Don't think there will ever be a shortage of middling retread managers who are willing to pick up a pay cheque for 9-12 months and then get paid out, good work if you can get it. But I agree that the quality ones or the ones with genuine aspirations of building something will never come here in a million years unless things change from top to bottom.
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
I think we should make a change now. Give it 6 months and then if we have a couple of bad results change again and then just keep doing the same over and over again while simultaneously bringing in loads of players every time and never appointing a Director of Football.
-
Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Has Bulut shown he’s a above average manager in this league
His tactics are 1 dimensional, his subs are questionable and he’s more concerned in stropping rather than motivating the players.
We line up in the same way every match and the plays are predictable. We’ve managed to scrape a reasonable league position from set pieces as our open play is horrendous.

So repeat what we have been doing - cunning I like your thinking 👍😂

21st and 18th. That is the last two seasons finishing position. Last season's championship was very poor with a lot of bigger clubs just trying to shed cost at all costs. Some of the smaller well-run teams over-achieved. IMO the top 6 of L1 were probably better than the bottom 6 of the championship.
We got lucky not to be relegated with that squad but the division is a lot better this year and we are mid table = Progression

We've been in relegation form for 1/3 of the season, and he's spent big on players like Siopis. We won't finish mid table at this rate.

Look what he inherited, we stayed up because other teams got point deductions and we lost our three best players from last year, Philogene, Kaba, and Kipre, he had a transfer embargo and has us three points from the playoffs.
If we'd appointed another apprentice as Manager like Morrison, Harris, and Hudson, we would be down already.
Bulut is trying to move us forward after terrible previous Managers, all he is asking for is some help, with a couple of footballers!

Re: Cooper, Jones, Ainsworth....
Whatever happened to giving managers time? Time to learn from their mistakes.
Time to really get to know his squad and them to know him.
Time to learn which players are for him and which aren’t, and time to (hopefully at some point) bring in more of his own players)
I heard the chairman of Exeter ask the question the other day that, why would he sack the manager after some bad form, because he’s the one man that has now learnt what’s gone wrong and now should know how to fix it. Bring someone new in and he might have to make those same mistakes all over again himself.
I am sure there are three worse teams than us this year. Stick with him and give him a chance to build something. When it’s been good it’s been really good so there’s hope he could get us back there.

It's the short termism of the game.
I've always thought of it as similar to when someone has stocks and panics when the market drops. They are never allowing themselves the opportunity to recover back into profit or trusting their initial decision. It's just a series of poor decisions and panic.
I can only assume clubs panic a lot and have very little confidence in their initial decision. Probably shown by the short contract we have given the last few. They are more stop gaps than long term appointments and so it plays out that way.
We need to be planning for more than a season at a time but I just don't see the evidence or appetite for that.
Feels more like the spinning of the roulette wheel hoping we land on someone like Warnock for some quick success.

Bulut in my opinion has given us far more reason to think if he was given time it could be successful.
We have had some great performances.
He has made some good signings.
He has contacts and knowledge that allows us to shop in markets we have not been able to before.
He has a wealth of experience.
He speaks well.
He’s likeable.
He spends time talking to fans.
He’s respectful and doesn’t seem the type to embarrass us in anyway.

It seems fans are just as impatient and prone to panicking as the board.
