A good read.
'Ron Evans Pies' - I have to be honest, I've never heard of them, are they still in production and are they any good?
In the comments section, someone referrs to Swansea as the "ducks" - ok, it might be slightly juvenile but, uhm... I like it! :hehe:

By your logic they should be Jacks.

Interesting point she makes....
For me, it’s not about where you live, or how far away you are from a team that means a lot to you. It’s about embracing your own identity and getting behind your team.
Amen. People can support who they want.

She supports cardiff city because her father took her as a kid
I wonder how many of the hoardes of dull man united and Liverpool fans in South Wales support them because their dads took them ?
Do people in pontypridd who support man united do so because it is part of their identity?
I think its because they are clowns whether you think they can support them or not

You're an enlightened soul in regards to this subject!
Out of interest, why can't somebody from Pontypridd identify more with Man United than Cardiff City?
Do you actually think your area of birth should dictate your choices?

To answer your question there will be many young lads / lasses who support Liverpool and Man United because their dad took them.
Boy in my youngest daughters class has travelled to loads of parts of Europe to watch Liverpool and this was before he was 10. So as a result of being a Liverpool fan hes a well travelled child.
Yes there are many who only ever watch them on TV but so what. It isnt a crime.

well someone from pontypridd , a working class valleys town 12 miles from Cardiff can try and identify with Manchester United if they want but the thing they have in common with man united is loads of other clowns from merthyr try and identify with them too
And they can't
If someone from Manchester moves down to Cardiff as a young man and starts supporting cardiff city and his children to grow up to be bluebirds season ticket holders thats called football socialism
If some plank from ponty supports liverpool then brings his kid up as south wales scousers who ignore their local teams , then cobblers to em

Football socialism?
Explain that to me.
One last thing, can you detail the criteria needed to support whatever club in terms of locality, affinity and sludgery so we can distribute the information to the lost footballing souls of South Wales.

Sometimes some folk born in Wales contradict themselves though, I’m sure we’ve all witnessed lads in their three feathered Welsh jerseys watching an England/Wales rugby game in the pub on a Saturday absolutely verbally slaughtering everything and anything English yet they turn that reversible same colour shirt inside out the next afternoon and in the same pub actually call themselves Mancs or Scousers when watching their Lancashire heroes...............Lancashire is still in England I think:hehe:
-
Re: A message to JR Hartley , lots of love from the West Glamorgan bluebirds xx
Maybe not pick your club because they are successful.
Glory hunting James hunts.

Of course and they deserve being shredded for being as dull as dogshit.
I'm struggling to see Sludges viewpoint on this when a bloke from Neath supports Cardiff whilst a bloke from Ponty should never watch any other club other than Cardiff.
His reasoning, to put it politely is 'all to ****'.

That’s their prerogative. Like it was yours to go and support Cardiff instead of Swansea, your local side.

Football socialism is when one stands to the far left of the ground 😄

I can't explain football socialism to someone who isn't a socialist
Socialism is about community
Not picking your team because they win things

So what is an acceptable distance in this football supporting community of yours?

In the North East of England, Newcastle , Sunderland and Middlesbrough fans often overlap , areas south of the Tyne but closer to Newcastle often support Sunderland for example
In South wales there are cardiff fans in neath and port Talbot and Swansea fans in aberdare , merthyr and Pencoed
And then you have man united fans in Cardiff, pontypridd , Llanelli , Swansea , with no links whatsoever to the North West of England apart from the team they support wins things all the time .
These people should be backing Welsh clubs but they are not . You think its OK. I think its a load of cabbage .

Agreed. There's no remit to liking football. If somebody likes watching Liverpool on Sky or at the pub with mates, then they can call themselves what they like, who ****ing cares? It has zero bearing on me supporting The City. I do think that they miss out on the anticipation of a live game, the atmosphere, even the walk to the stadium on cold evening and entering the ground, those things mean something to me. Apart from that, i don't really consider people who support a successful club and watch them on TV.

I know people who have followed United and Liverpool home and away for years even going to away European games
Let them enjoy it

It could be argued that they're more committed than fans that support their local team, every game is an away game. Real football fans in my opinion.....:hehe:

Answer the question. At what point does it become not acceptable?
We’ve established 35 miles is acceptable but 200 miles isn’t.
Is 40 miles ok? 50 miles? 100 miles?

You’re being kind. I read his opinion as football socialism as football fascism. As he’d regiment the society to his own dictatorial beliefs and suppress any opposition.
He’s obviously winding us up? He can’t really believe this bollocks he’s dribbling?

I think that he's getting a bit bleary eyed over being loyal to your local community-in football terms-that doesn't happen in any other industry under capitalism, unless you're white, slim, middle class and from pontcanna and you want to support some local artisan baker, where poor people aren't allowed to shop. It's all very confusing.

He is our owner, he's not a local football supporter from pontypridd following Liverpool instead of Cardif City
Bit of a difference
