Did well as the Wales manager but who wouldn't have with Bale,Ramsey and Allen in the side.
What was he thinking about taking the Sunderland job, there will be no hiding in this job ?
He's thinking it's a safe zone for his image.
Relegate - well, poor side he did his best but damage was done.
Stay up - looks like he's a good manager.
it's all about the money, there was zero chance of him getting a Prem job so went with the highest paying one that actually wanted him.
He can replace Barrie Horne.
"He will make a good commentator on sky."
As long as he takes the gum out of his gob
So 1 world class player, and two decent premier league players and any manager could have got Wales to a major finals, and a semi final in said finals?
How come no other Wales manager could achieve it then? The players Terry Yorath had were far better than the ones Coleman had at his disposal.
He created an unbelievable team spirit that is difficult to achieve at international level.
Best of luck to him, he clearly doesn’t get the credit he deserves, not that I suppose he gives two ****s what a Jock thinks of the job he did for the Welsh national side. Add bitter, small minded Cardiff City fans who can’t look past his Swansea links to the list of people he probably doesn’t give two ****s about as well.
He took over in extremely difficult circumstances and always carried himself with dignity, even when a dead man was getting more credit for HIS achievements.
Yeah, big clubs are fighting over Joe Allen.
That Yorath team used to get changed on the bus for training on dog shit park. Some top players, felt like poor relations. Fostered a decent team spirit but come up short alas.
We were a good midfielder away. I agree. Playing sparky at 10 weren't the answer as game as he was. A better link man n we would have been some team. There wasn't else much for it in fairness. You got to go with what you got. Wales didnt have a team like Romania in the group this time though. They were different class.back then and would dish out a football lesson to this current crop. Also finishing second just meant you felt even more gutted, no second chance play off.
No midfield? The midfield against Scotland in 85 included Robbie James, Peter Nicholas and Mickey Thomas. No midfield my arse.
Best British midfielder :hehe:
We had Ian Rush in that side who is the calibre of Bale, Hughes was every bit as good as Ramsey, probably better, and top British players same as Ramsey and if we are talking solely midfielders then James, Thomas, David Phillips and Nicholas were every bit as good as the likes of Allen, Dave Edwards, Joe Ledley and Andy King. David Phillips played more top division games than King, Ledley and Dave Edwards put together ffs.
You’d swear Rambo and Allen were Xavi and Iniesta they way some go on.
Allen got a move to a big club and failed.
A jock who watched more Wales games than most Welsh people, followed Wales long before "together stronger" in the real dark days, admittedly many as a guest .
Bale has won game after game for Wales, you disagree ? Shows you dont know what you are watching.
The Sunderland job is humongous, I doubt Chris Coleman has the ability to arrest their slide. Its an opinion.
The rose tinted specs as far as Ramsey is concerned on here is astonishing. Never seen him dominate a game against the likes of Chelsea, City, Man U, Liverpool.
Steven Gerrard used to dominate big games in worse Liverpool sides than the Arsenal teams Ramsey had played in.
Why is it one or the other? You can have world class players from different eras. He’s the most decorated player in English football and you’re trying to tell me he’s not World Class?!?!?
Yes I did. Hughes failed where Coleman didn’t which takes back to the original point.
I was also present for Ryan Giggs international debut at the Arms Park where the buzz was electric. Same buzz Bale gives young kids now because they are / we’re both football superstars.
Jimmy your arguing for arguing sake now. Ramsey for Wales is a 9/10 f9r arsenal where he plays the majority of his games he's a 6. 7 at a push.
If Coleman didn't get us qualified who else did? So by that reckoning it wasn't Warnock who won us the game Friday was it?
