Yes, there was plenty of space out to the right to be exploited. I’ve no problem with going sideways or backwards if it helps get you into a good attacking area quickly - we do have a problem with the quickly part mind.Quote:

Ralls' fault completely. Just puts the ball down and passes it blind to Phillips, who's not only got his back turned but is walking away from Ralls to pass on Bulut's message to Goutas. The only excuse I can give Ralls is that maybe he saw Bulut's hand signals on the touchline and thought it was a message to play it quickly but surely you've got to look at the person you're passing to in that situation.Quote:

The third goal yesterday was a moment of individual poor judgement/bad luck- no more than that.
Of more significance was the fact that when we tried to chase the game, we posed no more of a goal threat and just became a shambles at the back.
It's a shambles isn't it but it's a bit unlucky.
Ralls plays a pass back to a defender that isn't looking so has blame to take but he's probably just seen a blue shirt moving forward for the ball. I've never played professionally but when I played I rarely was able to focus on people's faces. Still from a dead ball situation more care is needed.
Phillips isn't looking, he's passing on a message to someone, probably isn't expecting us to take it so quickly. Still he should be more aware. Philogene certainly was.
It's just another poor goal to give away, for which we have specialised in.
Ralls' fault, but it was made to look slightly worse by Phillips being so lackadaisical.
We are not only physically slow but mentally slow as well. When was the last time you thought to yourself.."That was a clever piece of play by _______ (insert name)?

Nothing unlucky about that goal. I can't blame Phillips as he was passing on instructions so it's mainly Ralls' fault for not being aware of what was going on before kicking the ball and Bulut and the coaches for dictating that we often play backwards instead of looking to attack from dead ball situations.

I'm always wary of comparing Academy games to the Championship but I think it's ok here. Obviously, the issue is why we can't produce build-ups like this at first team level.
