Guilty musical pleasures...
Following Wales Bales revelation that he's turned to ABBA's 'SOS' to get him through his emotional time I'll admit to loving Kate Bush 'Wuthering Heights'.
Loved her red dress/leotard thing in the video. Made a massive impression on me as a 7 year old. I even called my terrapins Heathcliff & Cathy.
Anymore for anymore?

The Carpenters are very underrated. Great musicianship, vocals and songwriting.

Martin Carthy folk singer/guitarist

Re: Guilty musical pleasures...
My guilty pleasure is the very slushy Michael McDonald's Greatest Hits album. It is hidden away on my CD rack amongst albums by Man, Marillion, Gary Moore and the Motors. If you tell anyone I'll deny everything.

Karen Carpenter's voice was incredible, so sad that someone so talented and loved had the issues that she did.

Re: Guilty musical pleasures...
I also really like The Carpenters.
My 'guilty' pleasure is not so much an artist, but a genre - my ever growing collection of 70's 'Disco' tunes.
I hated them as a kid / teenager at the time of course.

Just before the Christmas break we were allowed to have the radio on in the office - and the above photo brought back the dirty look from a female colleague when I joined in with Cliff Richard's Xmas song (but changing the lyrics a wee bit).
"Christmastime, camel-toe and wine" was met with a stare like an Exocet.

Phil Collins era Genesis.

Re: Guilty musical pleasures...
I also have a few mid 70's Genesis tracks on the ipod and am starting to see the appeal of some country tracks as I get older

I love ABBA and the Carpenters. I could listen to Karen Carpenter sing all day, what a great voice she had. Boney M are also another guilty pleasure.

I predict you had Radio 6 on which is where you stole (yes stole!) your idea for the hugely successful "songs that include the name of another band" thread.
Blatant plagiarism which you of all people should hang your head in shame over.
The BBC have been notified of your crime.

Definitely not a 'guilty' pleasure IMO. Van is the man!
Like Gwapo says, Country music seems to become increasingly more enjoyable as one gets older.

I'm glad that my dotage hasn't fallen into that template.

It was Smooth Radio, I believe. My thread wasn't prompted as you suggest, old fruit.

I've never quite got my head around Trevor Horn being in (and jointly responsible) for the pop combo 'Buggles'.
