Re: Important games today
Brentford look so good. If we finish 6th we going to get smashed anyway.
Good for us mind as now puts more pressure on West Brom to win
Brentford sell their players every year and still manage to replace them

Some goal wasn’t it! If we do make the play offs I wouldn’t fancy our chances against Brentford!

We would really have to get tight for the entire game and bully them.
They really are a good team and good to watch

Re: Important games today
One down, 2 to go.
Come on Forest!

I wonder if the close proximity to the other bigger London and of course the pollution allows them a bigger area to fish in , they certainty develop a lot lads ,love to see them go up

Pollution? I assume you mean population. 😛
Actually I agree that they are likely to pick up loans and frees that we would struggle to get. Similar to the Midands and NW clubs who have large populations nearby.

We need Brentford and Fulham to pose a threat to Leeds.
They will travel to West Wales tomorrow with a lot more to play for.
Brentford are only one win from becoming second (with a much better GD than Leeds).
Could Leeds panic ?

Re: Important games today
Funny how different it looks a week later. Last sat we went 9 clear of Bristol City. They are now winning 3 nil at boro to go 3 points behind.
Kind of been similar to our season though, look out of it, couple games later back in with a shout.

Re: Important games today
Not a bad set of results at all.
There is even an argument that the Bristol City win will help us - make them more likely to take points from Preston and the Jacks.
Shame Millwall got 3 points. Otherwise almost perfect!

I've heard they have a pretty good youth system and have recruited youngsters from around here. Good luck to 'em!

Easy to pick up players that don't quite make it at Chelsea etc
-
Re: Important games today
That’s pretty much their philosophy - they even abandoned their academy to do so

Chris Mepham is the perfect example. Released by Chelsea, picked up by Brentford and sold on for millions

They're also pretty good at spotting talent lower down. Pinnock, Henry and Watkins all played today and were picked up from the lower leagues

I wonder whether the system (in part) is to do with them being in London, and the location (West) It's a great option if a player has done all of their football development in London. The theory is fantastic, let someone else develop the player, save on time, staff, an academy and save a shit load of money. Their new ground looks tidy as well.

100%. The sheer number of good clubs and academies as well as the huge population makes it viable
Its also an easier sell to players than most other clubs "Do you want to live in London, or do you want to live in Cardiff/Huddersfield/Nottingham etc?"

You're in Nottingham? What's it like compared to cardiff? From what i've read, it takes a bit of a hiding.

Its alright, it has its rough parts like any other city, though there are parts of Nottingham that you would definitely want to avoid. Cardiff is a nicer city and is a bit more affluent

Makes we wonder whether a North West team should try this approach with the castoffs from the Premier League teams up there!
