Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Anyone on here drink Henry Westons Vintage? Good grief :hehe:
I'm not a big drinker, if I go 'out' I drink Strongbow. I'm usually cooked by the time I reach eight pints. If I'm 'out out' I could most probably hit the dizzy heights of ten.
I've had a few cracks at HWV and I must say eight x 500ml bottles more than broadened my horizons.

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
I love cider but try to keep off sessions of it and just have one or two on a night afternoon out.
Pub I go to has started serving Thatchers Haze. Love it. Much prefer Thatchers to Strongbow. I do like Stongbow Cloudy Apple.
Dont like Inches which a lot of pubs seemed to introduce.

Try the Henry Westons Cloudy. Carbonated anything sucks as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Thatchers Haze is popular around here, I always used to prefer lager, but on a hot summers day you cant be a haze

Fair play to you! i don't drink anymore, but the last beer i really enjoyed way back in 2009 was a beer called 'Sunchaser' think it was brewed by Everards. I've seen those Ciders that fuse flavours, Kiwi fruit and lime and that kind of business, haven't tried them but they don't sound great.

I'll take your word for it Matt. I can only imagine that they can be a bit sickly, although without drinking them i can't really comment.

Yeah, no problem. I was never a big drinker, couldn't hold it and was usually sick on it. After 2 pints i was forcing it down, so i just thought, **** it, what's the point? I only ever started drinking because it was sort of the done thing. Never really had an interest in it. All a bit boring really :hehe:

Booze just wasn't my thing, it would spin me out a bit and i would talk even more bollocks than i usually do, if that's possible :hehe:

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
No better than the Henry weston vintage.
Nice little one couldn't drink more than one but a nice thirst quencher is the lillys cider they do.
Check this list out they do.

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Pina colada, cider that was quite different. Nice though 😂😂
-
Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Westons Vintage is my favourite cider, potent but proper cider , Aspalls is also a lovely clean tasting dcider but again strong and very acidic, Kopparberg a nice summer thirst quencher i prefer the strawberry and lime flavour

Love a Leo Sayer

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Stowford Press for me.
I remember bottles of GL when I first started drinking, like squash that stuff.
-
Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
When I used to live in Blackwood for a short time, there was a cider in the Institute. If my memory serves me correct (too much of this bloody cider along with other alcohol) it was 8% and 98p a pint. Blew your head off.

And you wonder why I'm scared to watch F1 at Silverstone with you!

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
A long time ago I'd have a glass or three of Taunton Natural Dry, but don't see it much around here these days.
I'm more of an ale snob anyway.

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Bought a few cases of 'cidre' when we were in south Brittany many years ago. Local producer. It was like drinking champagne. Spoils you for anything that comes out of a bottle or can in this country I'm afraid..

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
I love cider but I reckon it should be on the optics.:hehe:

Why does it turn some people Mental? And it does, weird, because it's Alcohol, just like the rest, but Cider!.....

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Can only be Henry Weston’s Vintage, takes me back to the 70s learning to drink, brought up on scrumpy & cloudy bottoms, no filtered stuff in them days
P.s. cider here in Poland is excellent, prefer it to the beer
-
Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Best Advice the old man ever gave me was stay away from Cider - Rots your guts. It certainly took my old Pentrebach mate out at 48 with a shot liver.
-
Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
After being diagnosed with coeliac, all I could drink was cider, no lager or beer.
I used to enjoy a few pints of cider on a hot summers day, but to drink it all the time, na !!!!
This has now all changed and I’ve actually got used to it. Obviously the most common make out there is Strongbow, but Thatchers Gold and Thatchers cloudy are tidy.
A good value bottled cider for the house is Aldi’s Irish Cider £1.29 a pint bottle .
It’s also a myth about rotting your guts, or brings on gout .
-
Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Suprised Gwynt Y Ddraig hasn’t been mentioned yet. They have 6 or 7 types and they’re all really good.
I love cider but my guts don’t seem to, anyone else have this problem?
-
Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
It’s marvellous for coughs…….you can tell a dedicated cider drinker, if he does cough, he has to clutch the seat of his pants at the same time. You daren’t cough!
-
Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
Aspall Vintage
Old Rosie Cloudy .
Any Farmhouse Cider.
Best out of bottles or craft boxes like Vaults does.
The Stable in town he place to go to and try many ciders on a rack .. pizza and pie's nice as well back St David's 2 rear entrance ..

Any idea where they sell it, or is it online only?

Re: Cider Drinkers. What do you drink?
8 half litres at 8.2% is still one hell of a good swish !!!
