England need 360 to win in a day and half C'mon Buzz Ball ??
Quite some tasks for buzz ball showing as a 20% win chance ??
18 for 0 off 17 balls

Re: England need 360 to win in a day and half C'mon Buzz Ball ??
Decent start but the obligatory collapse is overdue after the Kiwi run chases.

And seconds later Pope gone.
If only I had a tenner on it!

Re: England need 360 to win in a day and half C'mon Buzz Ball ??
Get to 30 overs 269 to win ,Bairstow and Stokes may have fun with the softer ball ??

I started to watch and we hadn't lost a wicket. a few minutes later we are 3 down.
turned it off again as obviously I am bad luck.

And another one gone.
Sometimes I hate being right.
Big innings required from here on in .

Probably putting the kiss of death on Bairstow, who I often said was not up to test cricket, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a batsman in such great form over such a long period.

Thats it game over.😂😂😂

Absolutely crazy. Poor team, playing poorly are about to win their 4th game in a row. Can't remember ever seeing this level of 4th innings performances so consistently. Throw in Glamorgan 'doing an England' themselves, and it's been a very strange month of cricket.
Bairstows performances have been incredible. Can see him pumping up his teammates and draining the opposition bowlers . Awful from the Indian bowlers mind.

Completely agree Bob.
This isn't a player coming in to smash it around - every innings has been under real test match pressure.
And he's done it again and again. Fantastic.

The Indian bowlers will be feeling the pressure, that's for sure. They'll have seen England manage 3 good run chases and think this is going to be another.

Re: England need 360 to win in a day and half C'mon Buzz Ball ??
If England win tomorrow, and win easily, the victory will be even more incredible than the NZ wins. It just doesn't seem possible to better the other chases but this will be something else.
Just hope Bairstows form carries forward to the Hundred next month.

Re: England need 360 to win in a day and half C'mon Buzz Ball ??
Stokes's appointment as captain has had a massive influence of the team's mindset and the positive attitude of the batsman getting after the bowler at every opportunity seems to be working.
Bairstow in particular has been playing one day shots and is in superb form, though it has to be said he has had a bit of fortune.
I have to admit, I am not a big fan of white ball cricket but its introduction has got batsmen playing all kinds of shots with the players rewriting the test match batting manual.
Out has gone the "don't give your wicket away cheaply".
The improvisation brought in from the Twenty 20 form of the game, at the moment anyway, looks to be paying dividends.
If England win today which seems highly likely it will be their highest total set to win ever.
Question is, is this attitude sustainable in Test cricket?

And he hit the last big hundred with the new ball in play , he seems to be rejuvenated as a batsman , or his coaches have after leaving the wicket keeper role ?
His average this summer is something in the high 98's

Root reaches his century, Bairstow on 92, currently 319-3.

Root is making the game seem simple.
Unbelievable stroke play.

He really is quality.
Now playing like he's had the whole weight of the world lifted off his shoulders.
He'll do well to get the MOTM off Jonny Bairstow mind.
Just got his second century of the match.
Awesome performance.

Incredible. 4 successful run chases. A huge turnaround from the Winter/Spring.
-
Re: England need 360 to win in a day and half C'mon Buzz Ball ??
“Boring” is not the right word for it, but it was all so predictable- there was barely a moment during the morning when England looked like losing a wicket, let alone the game.

Remarkable
I love Test Cricket, but I'm also starting to miss the tension it used to serve up.🙂

By tension do you mean watching a horror show of capitulation by the England middle order.
Strangely I kind of understand what you mean but I am going to have to bank the last four test match results in anticipation of normally service being resumed shortly/ when the Aussies turn up.

as fantastic as these performances have been, neither NZ or India had what you could call ideal preparation for playing a test match in English conditions and we've seen how important that can be

We haven't seen England try to bowl a team out to win a Test, or see them try to win a Test when 7 or 8 down. Will be interesting if bazball still applies if Anderson and Leach are at the crease needing 30 to win in 4 or 5 overs, or if they shut up shop and defend.
Long may it continue though.

Re: England need 360 to win in a day and half C'mon Buzz Ball ??
Root was always a first class batsman , but not a First Class captain .
Some may view late last night into today a bit tedious , however India are first rate bowling side battered into submission by two fine batsman , their fielding can be questionable though .
I cant abide Kohli so great to see him down he is a poor version of Tendulkar , you'd not see Sachin moaning and groaning at everyone and at everything , he just delivered

Kohl appears on the spectrum to me … very skittish on the field
