-
Re: He’s gone officially
Yes. On the club website now. it couldn't go like it has been.
-
Re: He’s gone officially
Thanks Neil. Great push for the play-offs last season, didnt happen for one reason or another this season.
Good luck for the future.

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
Confirmed.
Personally not particularly happy about it when it’s the players fault but he made the decision a lot easier
Good luck to Harris don’t think he was helped by the players but onto pastures new for us.
Interesting to see who they will bring in

Can’t see Morrison staying with the under 23s either.

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
Disappointed but lose 6 games on the bounce and your in trouble.
Lets hope the new bloke isnt hounded by the pitch fork brigade after 3 games.
Paul Cook I reckon.

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
It’s shame because I think things were improving last season but then this season despite making good signings it’s not worked at all.
I’d give it to Bellamy but that seems unlikely.
-
Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
Please use this opportunity wisely City.
Who do we have on staff that can take charge of the next two games?

Bellamy wouldn't want it.

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
Makes you wonder who signed Ng and Watters.

"The Club". Feel a bit sorry for Watters, especially. If the new manager doesn't play 442, he's not going to get a look in. Ng will be fine, though.

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
I wouldn't want Bellamy managing a team low on morale

We're his only hope of Championship or above, unless he starts in Belgium. He still lives in Cardiff. I think he'd be mad to turn it down.

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
I dont feel in the least bit sorry for 2 blokes in their early 20s leaving Crawley and Crewe joining a bigger club on 1000s a week. Im sure they will cope.
-
Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
The new manager is critical to how the next few years will pan out. Change was needed, some would argue sooner.
For me he did well last season, abysmally this season and the playing style hardly changed from that under Warnock. For me he had to go.
-
Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
Good luck, Harris. Good bloke, did a great job last season but sadly the wheels have come off big time. All the best.

I wondered if Harris was sticking two fingers up at the board by substituting Watters after 55 minutes last night.

It all makes sense, that's why it won't happen

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
Thank you and good luck Neil
I'm never happy when anybody loses their job but the warning signs were there from the League Cup game at Northampton that the team was all over the place and your job was to identify that and rectify it - it didn't happen and performances have not improved. The Coventry, Wycombe and Derby defeats were utterly dreadful. The Swansea defeat was depressing in seeing the gulf in class to a team that finished behind us last season.
The harsh reality is that it wasn't going to improve without a different approach and the board were therefore right in their decision.
I wish you well and hope you can find another job in football as he seems a decent fella

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
It's an honour and a privilege to manage Cardiff City FC. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out for Neil and CCFC this season, so it's probably for the best.
-
Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
Why on earth have we let Harris see through most of January? Should have been sacked after Wycombe.
Anyway good luck to him wherever he goes next, he was unfortunately not the right guy for us. God knows who the board will appoint next

He did say some daft things though.
"I've shown, in my managerial career, that if I'm given time then I can be successful," Harris said after the match.

Re: NEIL HARRIS SACKED - CONFIRMED
and his wikipedia page needs to be updated

I thought about that as it made me wonder if signing them did indeed mean that he was safe. The club probably took the view that they are relatively young and relatively cheap.

And therein lies the problem.
What he did here is no surprise. His win percentage was not far off what he achieved at Millwall. His playing style wasn't that different to what he produced at Millwall.
It makes you wonder what the three who picked him thought he was going to achieve here?
The cheap option again it seems which has turned into an expensive pay off again.

A really good man, a pleasure to deal with and tried his best to change things from the ground up. Really admired his passion for youth and desire to see the academy flourish and I'm sure rewards will be reaped in time.
But, as he also knew, it's ultimately a results business and they have simply not been good enough.
Injuries have not helped, but the football flipped and flopped from one style or system to another.
Just couldn't strike the right balance and ultimately the price has been paid

It was ultimately the right decision but we shouldn't forget what he was aiming for. Next manager isn't going to have it easy thanks to mismanagement before Harris arrived but will have it easier, in the long run, due to Harris' time at the club.
(and we shouldn't forget that his winning percentage has only just dropped below what Warnock managed here).

The right call. We need a spark and I'd go with Bellamy. It's time...

I wondered that too. I've heard that the two new boys in weren't his signings - so it was make sense.
If that's true is there the possibility that the incoming manager recommended them?

There is that but Warnock had a season in the Premier League which knocked that down a fair bit. Let's not forget that.

Where did you hear this?
If there is any grain of truth to that then whoever we get on board is up against it.

Best solution for all concerned and a waste of a year.

40% win record is not to be sniffed at.
Malkys time with Cardiff was a success and his win record was 43%.
His record at Watford before he got the job was 33%
if people think we are going to get a manager with a win rate much above 40% they are seriously, seriously deluded.

Might be time from our point of view but what makes us an attractive option now? This year we're at a risk of going down and next year our midfield is still going to struggle. That doesn't cry out as a good first managerial job when you're enjoying working in Belgium.
We're really after a caretaker to get us to end of the year in this league and offer enough of a budget to change our midfield for next year to new manager.

They must have the next manager lined up now to have only just done it
