Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Will be interesing if MM experiments with the team thinking of next season. I do expect changes this time.

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Dont expect much off this ref after his performance in the first Jack's match this season

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Match facts
- Reading are unbeaten in 10 matches against Cardiff in all competitions (W4 D6) since losing 2-0 in the league in November 2015.
- Cardiff are looking for their first away league win over Reading since November 2011, winning 2-1 under Malky Mackay.
- Reading have won three of their last four at home in the league (D1), scoring eight and conceding just twice in this spell. The last time the Royals went five league games unbeaten at the Madejski Stadium was between January and March 2019 (W3 D2).
- After going unbeaten for their first 11 league games under Mick McCarthy (W7 D4), Cardiff have now only won one of their last six in the Championship (D2 L3).
- Mick McCarthy has lost his last six away league matches against Reading, since leading Sunderland to a 2-0 win in March 2004.

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Blimey. Our recent stats v Cardiff are much better than I had thought

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Swift is expected to be back tonight. He’s only played nine times this season. He will be on the bench. When he has played we have won six and drawn three. He has been a big miss.
I expect we will line up something like...
Rafael
Yiadom
Holmes
Moore
Richards
Rinomhota
Laurent
Ejaria
Olise
Meite
Puscas
With Joao benched

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I hope Ralls is in central midfield and not in a No 10 role alongside Wilson (or at LWB with Ng at RWB and Sang in CM)
5 - 3 - 2 ?
So this is not the match where MM throws the youngsters in - except Colwill on 85 minutes.

Looking at where he was v Blackburn I think he will be a AM.
Should be in CM instead of Pack or Vaulks.

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
The only thing I can think of is that MM's realised results dropped off when he spoke to the press about challenging for play-offs so now has taken all pressure off with his comments but privately thinks we have a chance if we win tonight.
If we really are out of the play-off races then it's only Brown at LCB and Ralls as AM whose performances are of any interest. Guess you don't learn much by making too many changes

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Reading side as per above apart from Joao being preferred to Puscas. Joao is lucky to start. He has been dreadful over the past couple of months.

Big Sol on Sky as a pundit

That means he will score against us then.

It might help shift the last ones in the club shop.

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Decent start with good pressure.
Wouldn't it be nice though to vary it a bit, like somebody hitting the byline out wide and crossing the ball like the old days, Keiffer would score plenty

Careful - you might upset Sludge and all the other hoofball lovers!

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Only one team has started this game and it’s not Reading

I doubt the people you speak of are that enamoured with the style we play.
We do have to try and play to our strengths and unfortunately we do not have the personnel to play the way we would all like to see.
Personally I try to be supportive of the team and manager, though I have to admit, it is difficult at times.
-
Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
At least we are trying to pass the ball around a bit more. And we are the better side. Moore is isolated again though.
-
Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
There's the sense that Reading have a bit more to come from them but we don't.
-
Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
One of our better performances.

Looks like Reading players are thinking of their holidays
Bollocking half time, different team 2nd half
-
Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Very poor from us. Slow and lethargic. Cardiff working harder and have at least worked Rafael. We have created nothing.
-
Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Both look like they’ve given up but some decent play now and again.
-
Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Two average teams playing averagely.

You are right we have looked the better side, marginally, though the stats just shown say otherwise
Unfortunately for us, as has been mentioned, doubt you'll play that badly second half.

Re: READING v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Get Pack off before he's sent off
