Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...rdiff-19161188
The Middlesbrough boss believes little has changed under his successor Neil Harris at Cardiff City, and he wasn't happy with the officials in the 1-1 draw.

Out of interest have we heard from Bluebird23 since the Middlesboro coach left?

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
Miserable old tw@t.
He did his usual job of reffing the game from the side line.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
Hasn't really said anything bad there. I don't feel like we've moved forward maybe we are in between but feels like we are a less effective direct team and a slow and incompetent passing team.
Managers will always try and push the blame or take the credit but doing a way without blowing the trumpet.
I always felt like he was pretty honest in his assessments when he was here maybe he did go a bit over the top in decision whilst they maybe wrong they probably aren't as clear as he deemed.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
He's always been very good at making the successes about him and the failures about the officials, hasn't he? I don't want to get too down on him, his time here was really enjoyable for the most part, but bit bored of him getting nothing but plaudits from local press, and himself, when he left us with several problems on the pitch and no easy way out.

On today’s showing, he is right. We showed no intent on playing football. That isn’t true of midweek which was an excellent game. Today was just a scrappy battle.

Couldn’t agree more. We have had quite a few poor quality games this season

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
Warnock is right.
So many on here were saying the style of play is evolving under Harris, but it isn’t.
It’s regressing and the team are boring to watch, and look very disjointed, with just occasional moments of flair.
Mind you, the Millwall supporters will tell how their team has evolved since they got shot of Harris.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
Typical Warnock outburst ,he does like a drama and headline, Its obvious to most that we are a different side tactical than we were under Warnock , whether we will be as successful and get promoted is a mute point in this league .

THIS season?! What about last season?
The quality of football under Harris has been dire and the only reason that Wednesday’s game was enjoyable was because Bournemouth are a passing side which in itself was a depressing glimpse into what other teams are doing.

I loved him being our manager and am still fond of him.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
I wonder if Boro were a team that wasted time from the 20th minute before he got there.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
Warnock had a point with our goal mind, but, although we're some way short of getting there at the moment, we're definitely trying to play a different type of game to the one we used to play under him - you'd never have seen Smithies rolling the ball out to defenders like hr was doing yesterday under Warnock. As for playing direct, set piece orientated football, it's a shame that our transition to something different is a slow job which, hopefully, will end up with us being a better side to watch, but it would be daft to abandon something that we have been good at for years completely, especially when we're losing.

The next few games are pivotal in my opinion. Things need to sharpen up a bit. We start cautiously then react when we go a goal down. That's not a good sign in my opinion, it tells me that Harris doesn't have the belief in forcing other teams from the start, a safety measure if you like. I don't mind a sort of mix it up style of play, what i can't stand is the lack of urgency in our initial phase of the game, waiting for something to happen as opposed to making it happen.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
What was disgraceful was Warnock trying to get Ralls sent off for a non-existent elbow.
-

The long throws have got to go. They're pitiful. And embarrassing.

Yes I agree with this.
Their players were rolling around the pitch like they'd been poleaxed all game.
The game is fast becoming a non contact sport.
Re Warnock, he does try and deflect blame or criticism where he can. People see through this eventually.
We should have won yesterday, we had the chances, so I won't heap too much criticism on Harris.
Not a fan of the long throws mind but I did laugh at one of our throw-ins, the commentator said "no prizes for guessing whats coming"... Morrison took a short one :hehe:

I thought they were pretty effective, we often seemed to get a head on one, and against Bournemouth they looked uncomfortable dealing with them.

All the club have done is change ‘Warnockball’ for ‘Harrisball’, yet some on here think Harris is doing a good job of ‘evolving’ our style.
He’s done nothing of the sort.

Playing out from the goalkeeper, more possession, not lumping the ball into the box at every opportunity and a skilful player instead of a grafter in the 10 role. There are some of the changes Harris has made. He's obviously not going to ditch everything we did under Warnock because we did some of it well but our style is clearly evolving.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
With regard to the incident for our goal, he is wrong. It was very clever play for Moore to peel off and their player ran in to Vaulks because there was nowhere else to go. I'd blame his own defender if I was him. And he was moaning about us having towels to wipe the ball! I'm glad he's not here anymore.
We do have a squad of very good players at this level, but we are not playing well yet (I hope we do start!). Harris is limited but can't fault his commitment and work ethic. He is on a par with Warnock.
But we are seeing cost cutting, getting Etheridge, Paterson and Flint off the wage bill to bring in Wilson, Ojo, Osei-Tutu, Phillips, Moore and Benkovic. This after releasing, Coxe, Connolly, Bogle, Ward and Richards as well as offloading Madine and Peltier in January and terminating the contract of NML. At least it's better than 2014/15 when we paid up loads of contracts and signed the likes of Revell, Doyle. O'Keefe and Kennedy. I know which squad I'd rather have.

Did you have " How to chat utter shit all the time" lessons in school or did it come naturally to you?

Neil Warnock as headmaster, Russell Slade as PE Teacher

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
Great manager
Since 1961 only two managers have got us promoted to the top flight
For a couple of dodgy decisions warnock would have kept us up
-
Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
In my book Colin gets significant credit for turning the team round and getting us promoted. However, the relegation, his overall abysmal record in the transfer market which will have implications long after he has left and other pernicious aspects of his management more than counteract the pluses. As far as I am concerned a chapter thankfully closed.

For a few years warnock got people interested in cardiff city again , kids were wearing bluebirds tops , we were on the news
Once we got relegated people turned
Its the way our fans are and the way they always will be
Harris did a fantastic job getting us into the play offs
Already people are sharpening the knives because we have not hit the ground running
It baffles me

I think that is a bit harsh.
Whereas his transfer dealings when he had money to spend, were suspect, and some may question how if ever we were going to stay in the Premier League (which we nearly did), I always look back on a manager’s time with the club and think ‘was that a good time supporting the club or not’ and with Warnock it is a resounding ‘yes’.
How many other recent managers can you say that about? Maybe Malky? Yes for me for Jones but other than that the rest have just been dull and unmemorable.

If you want to make a judgement on a manager based on whether you were enjoying yourself or not at the time then fair enough. I enjoyed the good times too. I don’t subscribe to the view that he is a Cardiff City legend as espoused by some (the word “legend” is bandied about too freely in my view) I have taken an overall view and consider that the negatives outweigh the positives. Many will disagree.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
Fair comments really. The goal we scored was the same type of goal we scored plenty of times under Warnock. No problems with that, hope we can score 3 like that every game moving forward. Weird why people are getting wound up by it.

Re: Neil Warnock slams 'disgrace' in Cardiff City game and claims Bluebirds' direct style hasn't changed a bit
According to the BBC we had 59% possession against Middlesborough.
When was the last time we ha that much of the ball when Warnock was the manager here?

True.
They said on Sky during the Bournemouth game I think, that we has the lowest possession stats for any team in the Championship last year.

Yeah, enjoying myself whilst watching Cardiff City is quite important to me (and has sadly been a bit of a rarity over the years!).
For me, there have been way too many years of tedious mediocrity (Slade, Trollope, OGS etc) to just write off the better years and managers as well, especially when the team actually achieved something.

Tim Sherwood, when commentating on the Fulham v Palace game on Saturday, stated "they (fulham), look pretty with the ball, passing it around in their own half. But the problem is, they (fulham), can't play without the ball"
Sums up possession football beautifully
