The reason for "Back To Blue"
Was it to sell a shed load of season tickets before people realised that from now on we are going to be shopping in Poundland?
It seems the season ticket sales money (along with the the parachute payments) will be used elsewhere?

Re: The reason for "Back To Blue"
Revell is already better than Macheda, Malone has had one good game and one not good game - does it matter if we shop in poundland if it replaces the 60P-land stuff we already have? That's not to say Fabio is worse than Malone (he's probably a little better) but you're judging the clubs these players have come from rather than their performances so far, this when a former non-league player just won player of the month in the premier league!

Re: The reason for "Back To Blue"
Im fairly certain we are back in blue as Tan has lost interest is cost cutting and will look to get as much of his money back as possible before shipping out.
I still think he can do this with a better manager than Slade though.
The way we are playing under Slade STs sales are going to be poor.

The reason we're back in blue is the attendance for the colchester game

Tan wouldn't understand any of that! He just knew that it was the time for season ticket renewals.

I have no problem with this. My attendance is not directly related to the transfer fees we pay. I'd rather we stopped spending ridiculous amounts for players which would just be adding to the massive debt and started building a team and utilising our academy to bring the next Ledleys, Gunters and Ramseys through. We may even end up with a team that the fans will have some sort of affinity with. Whether Slade is the right man for the job remains to be seen.

This cost cutting will only slightly slow down our increase of debt, rather than paying it down.

Re: The reason for "Back To Blue"
A better example of Tan's future vision is that he didn't try to bring in Slade's staff with him. When is the last time that happened?

I read on here that Kevin Nugent refused to come here with Slade

Really? So all the fans had to do, was boycott the first home game in red against Huddersfield. Jesus, someone should have suggested that.

Right.
You're both flattering Colchester if you really think that. You really think that game was important enough for Tan to consider that? I don't. I don't think that decision was made on such a whim. I would imagine it was thought about for a while beforehand, purely based on finances.

We already have one. There are good players in the under 21s most of the better ones get loaned out to improve other clubs because we are afraid to give them a chance.I keep saying about these players and wonder why we are not trying them when what we have in the senior team are hardly world class. If you got the time get down and look at them you may be surprised.

It wouldn't really surprise me, I know we have some good youngsters coming through, we just don't seem to be using them. Dave Jones used to get stick for not giving the young ones a chance but during his time we saw more local lads coming through than we have since.

Re: The reason for "Back To Blue"
The real reason for the "back to blue" has nothing to do with any of the theories so far put forward. Early in the New Year I got an unexpected call from Mr. Tan who apparently had been trawling through the details of ST holders on the club database and asked me what I would like for my birthday on the 10th (January). I said that as the next City home game was coincidentally also on the 10th, it would be a rather nice present if the team could revert to blue on that day. And the rest is history as they say...

Agreed. In the long run, it's a sustainable club that matters. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/thumbup.gif
