Sayings That People Get Wrong
I'll start with 'early doors'. I am not 100% sure this is wrong, but it may have resulted from an ex footballer/presenter saying EARLY DOORS instead of EARLY DAYS.
Can you think of any?
-
Re: Sayings That People Get Wrong
I thought early doors originated from the pubs closing during the day and then reopening early evening?
-
Re: Sayings That People Get Wrong
Early doors is an old saying http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2295032/Big-Ron-to o-late-for-early-doors.html
Escape goat is my favourite of the kind you are looking for

Re: Sayings That People Get Wrong
It winds me up when people say "a 12 month". It's not a 12 month, it's 1 year.

Sorry - but doesn't 12 months = 1 year; just as 3 feet = a yard? Aren't these people justified in using 12 month(s)? Just a thought like. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/homer.gif

Does that happen often? - I mean Bakers with less than eight fingers and two thumbs - never met one myself. Still, if it did happen, he would certainly be selling us short. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/sad.gif

Re: Sayings That People Get Wrong
Women who get annoyed with other women and say "but she's talking about me behind my back!" as if they don't all do the very same thing, constantly.
Men are always trying to understand women but why bother? Women understand women and they hate each other.

B...dy .ell, you must have some strange acquaintances. Is Dionysus among them I wonder? Weren't satyrs involved here? No, sorry, I'm getting my myths mixed up - ever had mixed myths? Satyrs were definitely more horse-like than goat-like. Just look at the pictures. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/images/smiley_icons/homer.gif

It simply does not do to mistake the substance itself with the measure of quantity. I bet some people on here think that Sweetex is a pleasant former partner.

Re: Sayings That People Get Wrong
"The Premier league is the best league in the world" ?
Really what about the Bundesliga ?
Fan run clubs , cheap tickets , great quality football. They realised their own mistakes rearranged things and became world champions again.
