Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead over aleppo
Oh bugger.
Not sure this can be called as big a diplomatic incident as Turkish military shooting down a Russian jet, but still shouldn't they be protected?.

Re: Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead over aleppo
Thanks for the snuff movie LK
It's going to be interesting to discover what the assassin's nationality was. And whether he was affiliated to any political organisation. Maybe he was just angry because Russia etc are succeeding in liberating a cosmopolitan and relatively secular Syrian city from the jihadists.

Thanks for the info LK - you are quicker than Reuters.
Erdogan will be sitting on the toilet wondering what he's going to tell Vlad.

We had better hope that the incident doesn't prove to be this century's Arch Duke Ferdinand moment.

Re: Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead over aleppo
It seems as though the only security personnel at the event with a firearm was the assassin.
PS: Let's have no more talk of potential war. Please have consideration for TruBlue's shredded nerves.

Russia have been mentioned, panic panic panic. Gluey has been beaten to this thread by the latest Ruskie sycophant Gabalphaville. Funny how the people with all this intelligence live in Gabalfa and Llandaff North. I'd prefer Aleppo.

Just reading a post from a mate of mine who does C.P work ( close protection ) and he is amazed that the Russian ambassador had no-one with him, he should have had a number of Russians doing the C.P work

Is there a suggestion that the Russians were in cahoots with the guy who shot the ambassador, withdrew his security detail, all presumably to justify further Russian aggression?

Some news networks were reporting on him as a retired policeman.
Others said off duty.
Then some people were saying it was an accident.
Reuters released the news the driver was polish. Then they corrected themselves to say the truck was polish. Then they said the passenger was polish as well.
etc, etc.
The joys of "breaking news"!.

No need to get all upset just because the jihadists have been defeated in Aleppo, TB. Be happy and celebrate the liberation.

So there is a short timeframe where they are allowed to make things up :hehe:
BTW special forces usually conduct special operations, they are highly disciplined and chosen for their psychological profile, so no loose cannons they are trained to follow specific orders without deviation.

Ye I went a bit OTT when I saw he was supposedly special forces.
WW3 and franz ferdinand and all that :xmashehe:
Then Putin and Erdogan released statements and it calmed it a bit.

Yes, the story changes quite considerably depending on whether you state he was a member of the special forces, or as the BBC reported an Ankara riot police member.

Re: Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead over aleppo
Turns out the man of Pakistani origin they arrested is no longer a suspect and the truck driver is still at large. And armed.
The guy arrested must have had a pretty terrifying few hours

Re: Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead over aleppo
There may be some people who post on this MB who have through the horrors of conflict, have witnessed horrific scenes first-hand, and may chime in on this, but -
I'm pretty sure that if you fire a pistol into a person multiple times at close range there is a hell of a mess.
When they hit the floor, they twitch about for a long time.
Blood spatters abound, and blood seeps rapidly from the body.
What was it that we 'saw'?

Re: Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead over aleppo
It would be interesting to see the whole video to find out what that second microphone was used for, besides capturing the shooters rant.

Not sure what purpose there would be to murdering him.
Turkey and Russia have both put out statements.
The man who killed him recited sections from a poem used by al nusra of syria, so says Al Monitor.
Unless it was an american attempt to drive a wedge between russia and turkey by killing a chubby ambassador!.

It could also be a move by Russia to counteract US propaganda, though I've no idea to be honest.

Really? If you know, perhaps explain?
What kind of pistol projectile make no mess after multiple shots at very close range, but can dispatch a large man instantly - like in the footage?
This was concluded apparently without head-shot, but also apparently the man is dead in an instant but with no twitching and no bloodiness.
Hollow points - or the like - would make a heck of a mess.
Smaller calibre/pointed would mean that the man would not be instantly killed and instead be writhing and spurting blood .
I don't want to witness gore and death, but surely this 'killing' appears rather 'Hollywood U-rated' ?
Was anybody in attendance - the other side of the ambassador - hurt by any stray bullets?
What a skillful man that apparent crazed gunman must be.
I'm not taking any stance here. I just think we are fed incessant bulsh1t and this appears to be more of it - possibly.

As I said to gluey, we have all seen the Saigon execution, if he really wanted to get his message across he could have just walked over and blew his brains out, why couldn't they save him I wonder? you would think being hit so low down he would have a higher chance of survival wouldn't you?
