Player of the Season?
Two questions...
1. Who do you think will be our player of the season this year?
2. Who do you want to be our player of the season? (As in who do you think would lift the team the most if he were to have a stand out year)
-
Re: Player of the Season?
So far,
1. Mendez Laing
2. Big Ken

Re: Player of the Season?
Zohore and Zohore. If Zohore is the best player when we have Gunnar, Bamba, Morrison and NML, we'll be right up there.

Re: Player of the Season?
1. Far too soon to even speculate at.
2. Zohore, as it means he won't have left City.

Re: Player of the Season?
Just about a quarter of the season gone. Was curious to see if anyone's opinions had updated. For me I have less of a clue now than at the start of the season as so many individuals are performing so well. Still early on, but I had no idea NML would be so consistent. Rare for a winger. Ralls has also been immaculate, likewise Bennet.
Bryson wasn't at the club when the thread was started either. As a consequence, it doesn't look at this point that Tomlin is going to be given centre stage any time soon though.

Bamba. If Morrison is captain, big Sol is a general!!!

Think Bamba might be my choice at this point. So hard to say.
Will bump again halfway through the season.

My view has changed since the above, at this stage its :
1. N.M.L.
2. Bamba

Re: Player of the Season?
Bamba's recent spell in midfield had put him just in front of Mendez-Laing as Player of the Season so far for me. As for the second question, one of Zohore or Hoilett - others can play well and it doesn't reflect on the team's performance, but, invariably, when one of these two are really on their game, the team turns in one of it's better performances.

Agree with all of that entirely. I have to change my answer to question 2 to Zohore now.

Re: Player of the Season?
Wanted to bump this thread after the next game (halfway point of the league season), but WOL have done their own article, so a good excuse...
The Cardiff City awards 2017-18: Who has been the Bluebirds' best player so far?
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/f...17-18-13990958
My answers have updated to...
1. Bamba / NML
2. Still Tomlin
Will bump again later in the season...

Bamba. Without any shadow of a doubt whatsoever, so far. With several other honourable mentions - Ralls, NML, Hoilett, Bennett, Manga.
Let’s see come May 2018.

Tomlin has just had a few cameo roles so far.
Bamba has been outstanding in most of his games.
He also has a better song than Lilly too.

Re: Player of the Season?
Still RALLS !!
unsung hero.

Totally agree with your shortlist. Though I do feel NML has been the difference in some early season games though.

Same here. Bamba followed by Mendez-Laing.

Re: Player of the Season?
Id vote Bamba at the moment.
Ralls and Hoillett just behind.

Only 2 candidates for me, Morrison & Hoilett.
Morrison for consistency and leadership
Hoilett for his game changing ability.
a shout for Etheridge for most improved / most under-valued player

You can't leave Bamba out of the mix - He has been quite magnificent all season. Also, Ralls, but for his injury would be in there too - He has slotted back in like he had never been away.
Bennett has also been excellent all season and is probably the best left back we have had in a long time.
The great thing is are the number of contenders for player of the season. At least 6 if not more players that are worthy of consideration.

Yes. Every single player is player of the season. All playing way above what I felt was possible. For me there’s an argument for Bamba, Morrison, Bennett, Ralls, Hoilett and for the first part of the season, Zohore.
If we do win next week, no way in a million years can any player get criticised and that includes Madine and to a degree Tomlin.

Agree. Also need to remember the fringe players who have played important parts and never let us down when called for. Including Anthony Pilkington, Greg Halford, Matthew Connelly, Loic Damour and Liam Feeney.

Halford and Feeney were a major part of that 8 game win streak.

I’d have it between Paterson, Hoilett and Morrison
Morrison gets my vote

Probably overstating it. However, they certainly helped hold things together at a time when we were rocked by injuries.

Re: Player of the Season?
1) Morrison, been solid all year and is scoring some crucial goals in these last few games
2) Zohore
-
Re: Player of the Season?
I’ve changed my mind a couple of times but it has to be Morrison for me. Best captain we’ve had in years.
-
Re: Player of the Season?
1) Bamba
2) Morrison
