Dog friendly pubs where you can some decent food near to Cardiff.
Hoping to meet an old work mate for lunch soon but she wants
to bring her two small dogs along.
Come on CCMB you must know a few cracking ones.
All advice gratefully accepted.

She is coming to Cardiff from Carmarthenshire hence the need to bring the dogs too.
Eight hours or so way to long to leave them.

Fecking hate dogs in pubs, apart from guide dogs.
Should be banned like smoking.

Why may I ask ?
Generally I get more grief from people than dogs in pubs.

^^THIS^^ Why do people take their dogs to the pub? I don't want a smelly mutt anywhere near me while I'm eating.

Fair comment, people can be cnuts but from a hygiene point of view I am not happy having a smelly dog sniffing my bollocks while I am trying to eat my supper.

I thought that's what your wife did :hehe: Why do you assume dogs are smelly and have any interest in your bollocks ?
My dog is not guilty on both counts.

Can't stand smelly dogs anywhere near me while I am eating , or smelly people .

Re: Dog friendly pubs where you can some decent food near to Cardiff.
If there wasn't such thing as being able to take a dog to a pub then we would never be able to go out for a meal whilst on holiday. We wouldn't ever leave our dog at the holidaycottages on her own as its a strange place and the dog would get anxious. You also don't know who's about the place etc. She is quite lively so we tend to sit outside in the pub garden even in February we've done this but personally I don't see anything wrong with taking dogs to the pub as long as they are kept on the lead and next to the owner. I've seen smellier people in pubs than dogs before :hehe: I can understand that you don't want a dog wondering around in a pub as some people are allergic or scared of dogs but well behaved dogs should be fine.

Excellent. I know now that if a pub is dog friendly you're not likely to be there :)

I had a dog that lived 16 years, not once did I take him to the pub. Maybe I'm more considerate I don't know.

Have you got an opinion on dogs in pubs or are you just trolling again?

What's it got to do with Brexit ?
Europeans are way more tolerant of dogs in bars and restaurants than we are but
this hasn't translated across to the UK.

Absolutely right. At the moment the pub industry needs to attract as many customers as it can.

I have the odd pub meal here and there and have never noticed that pubs have been overrun by dogs. In fact, it's not often I see them, so anyone who says they won't go to a pub because there might be a dog or more there is probably lying. One of my more regular haunts has a room that people tend to use if they bring a dog as it is in an area where there are lots of walkers/doggers/Sludge. It's also a very busy place that sells good food, but slightly out of the way so people have to make an effort to go there. The landlord himself has two. If dogs are detrimental to trade, it hasn't happened there.

It's called The Black Cock Inn. Has something of a rep for attracting those who are having affairs.

This. Also, in the same neck of the woods, the Cefn Mably Arms in Michaelston Y Fedw. Very dog friendly - free treats and even a discount at certain times (Yappy Hour or something, it's called). The owners have a cocker. Certainly not the sort of place for some on here by the sounds of it.
