Elvis Presley wasn't a talented musician although he did die young

No. I think he was a talented musician. Played more than one instrument - guitar, bass and piano all by ear as he couldn’t read music. I think that requires talent so maybe our interpretation of talented is different.
Now if you meant BRILLIANT guitarist that’d be different, but I wouldn’t count John Bonham in that category😀

He couldn't play any of them very well wether he read by ear or not
John Bonham is genuinely accepted to be one of the best drummers of all time

Re: Talented musicians who died too young
Jeff Buckley, Minnie Ripperton, Richie Edwards, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Tim Buckley, Bob Marley, Sam Cooke, Brian Jones, Keith Moon, Ian Curtis, Robert Johnson.....
Someone else can do Nick Drake.
Why is it that so many famous musicians die aged 27?

I wonder if the 7 is the root of the term he threw a 7 ?

By talented then you obviously meant geniuses and not the Britain’s Got Talent type of talent.
If that was your intention I retract my point on Elvis being a talented musician

Re: Talented musicians who died too young
Couple of mentions for Ian Curtis who I don’t think Sludge will allow due to his lack of brilliance with an instrument. Sadly that also discounts Jim Morrison

Micky Jones and Deke Leonard

A voice is a musical instrument.

Ah... but is 'musician' the same as instrumentalist?
Can't a singer/vocalist or even a conductor or composer.... be a musician? Even an editor or arranger... if they are part of producing a piece of music?
I'm sticking with Ian Curtis (and Jim Morrison).

Re: Talented musicians who died too young
Les Harvey[27] was a co-founder of Stone the Crows in late 1969. It was while on stage with Stone the Crows at Swansea Top Rank in 1972, on a rainy day with puddles on the stage, that he was electrocuted after touching a microphone that was not earth-grounded.[2] A roadie attempted to unplug the guitar, but was unsuccessful.[3] Harvey died from his injuries.

I frequently get the opportunity to see bands who were contemporaries of The Clash and are still touring who call him out as a huge influence on them
What I’d give for an opportunity to see a reformed Clash playing White Man
