Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...-live-15684194
This is going well !!!
Reports in French media are claiming that Cardiff City’s £13million offer (€15million) has been rejected by Nantes.
The tweet below translates to: “According to our information the FC Nantes closed the negotiations with Cardiff for the transfer of the attacker Emiliano Sala, because of the decline of the offer of the Welsh club (15m instead € of 22m €). But in these times of mercato, the moods change quickly...”

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
I doubt he would have been allowed to talk to us if the fee wasn't agreed. This just seems like spin.
-
Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
Complete guesswork on my part and I'm not being entirely serious here, but the previously unenthusiastic Sala starts saying he wants to come here and his club rejects our bid claiming the amount offered has been reduced - could it be that some of the money originally destined for Nantes' coffers has been diverted into Sala's proposed wage packet at Cardiff?
-
Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
No way should be paying that ridiculous fee, time to move on, we did our best, increase our bid for Mbwana Samatta!
-
Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
I don't want any players at the club who don't want to be there in the first place.
-
Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
Honestly why would he be released for talks if a fee wasn't agreed?

Agreed, apart from the great odemwingie players don't rock up at clubs unless a deal has been agreed.

I think Bordeaux get half of any agreed fee with Nantes so it was always going to be an expensive transfer, Nantes are going to push this for every Euro they can. Time to move on maybe ?

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
We need some striker by Saturday.....big call for vinnie here

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
Looks like some serious negotiating skills are requirrd here. Time to get Theresa on the case.

I sincerely hope we have a plan B ready for quick action.
Something tells me we are being played here

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
The actual report from the local French publication. Personally I think this is just part of the negotiation end game. Didn't Mehmet say £18m (€20m)

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
It seems we have reduced our offer by €7m once Sala had agreed terms

You don't mess around flying players in and out of the country to back-track on an agreed fee.
The 50% sell on clause is a massive issue and has been throughout; it's Nantes issue to deal with; but I dare say we've been trying to help where we can.

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
The problem with the way that this is being played out is that this deal is now ripe to be gazumped by any club that meets the original fee we agreed, and knowing what terms the player is looking for

Have Nantes 'called off' negotiations?
Despite the wording of those media reports in France that Nantes have ‘called off’ negotiations with Cardiff City over Emiliano Sala, a word of caution.
Those are translations, so what’s important and clear is that the French side have rejected the Bluebirds’ bid of around £13million.
This saga isn’t quite over, with Cardiff surely set to lodge another offer if they want to land their man.

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
This is very similar to the LFW saga

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
I'd be surprised if this is true. You don't release a player for talks without agreeing a fee

The consensus of the directors across the board would be split on this matter and it could end up as a fans people vote to establish a quick way forward, hopefully with no hard borders .

He will be off to spurs to replace injured Harry before we know it

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
The club are embarrassing themselves off the field at the moment.
Warnock's comments about brexit, crying about the Clyne deal, a lack of a back up option for Clyne, this ongoing saga, and if we've really lowered our bid (which is probably true as we'd have had to agree a deal in the first place to get him over here for talks) then it's a joke.
Premier League side, dog and duck outfit off the pitch.

En ces périodes de mercato où les humeurs changent vite, on est toutefois amené à penser que les choses peuvent encore évoluer au sujet d’Emiliano Sala. Avec Cardiff ou un autre club…
the gist:
During the transfer window where things can change quickly, Emilio Sala's transfer could still be on. With Cardiff or another club...

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
It's becoming as boring as the saga in Westminster:shrug:

I find it curious that people apportion blame without knowing the facts. There are obviously many parties involved in such a transfer. The player, his agent, his current employer, his previous employer, his manager, his legal team, possibly familial and cultural matters to consider, Vincent Tan, Mehmet, Warnock, City's legal team, possibly Brexit and other imponderables that one can only guess at.
And the information we do judge things on is usually just material written in the media!

 In earlier reports, the fee has been agreed, unless City have gone back and reduced the offer - which the report hints at. But why would we agree a fee and then say - actually, we don't want to pay that, we want to pay a lot less.

Happy to support the players on the pitch as I have done at the vast majority of games home and away this season. They've done an amazing job to get us to January out of the relegation zone
If only the board were able to deliver as the players do, we may get somewhere.
As for Warnock, massive fan, but the Brexit stuff was dire. Glad the club distanced themselves from that.

If he has been pulled from the Nantes squad tonight that could be a very good sign.

But you called the club you support a 'dog and duck outfit off the pitch' thereby insulting all the hard working people who keep the club going and also the manager, owner and board who have kept the club afloat over the last ten years and all these people contributed greatly to what happened last year and also so far this season. Common perception is that Choo and Dalman are hard working and well liked and Tan has backed the board and manager before and appears happy to do so again now. If your only complaint is that the board are being careful with money, then that is hardly a criticism, bearing in mind what has gone on before. Transfer dealing also dont just involve the purchasing team do they, there are loads of variables all of which have to fall into place for the deal to go ahead. How is that the clubs fault ?

Re: Nantes reject Cardiff bid - French media
So he's gone from not being good enough to being Harry Kane's replacement. You can't make this shit up :hehe:

I think the manager banging on about brexit was pub football behaviour. I thought his criticism of the Clyne move was pointless and made us look very amateur. An English international full-back is always going to be in demand. I'm not involved in the game but know enough that you can't rely on a promise in this day and age, and that other teams are within their right to loan someone elsewhere. Should they have informed us? Yes. Is it worth causing the fuss that followed? No.
We didn't get a striker in last time as we weren't prepared for the set backs with back up options in place and it looked like we were going the same way with this deal, but thankfully Sala has agreed to join (it seems) so I'll reserve my overall judgement for how we do in the rest of the window.
The players and manager have performed miracles over the last 18 months, hopefully they're given every chance of staying up in the next 2 weeks with some investment in the positions that need it most.

Perhaps Nantes thought we would pay £18m AND the sell on clause - now they realise we were only going to pay the £18m full stop?
