Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
Any country that believes the way forward is Alex McLeish deserves to be embarrassed

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
I would rather England qualified than Scotland, they remind me of the international version of Liverpool, so entitled.

I'd rather England qualify too. It's a summer tradition to sit down with a drink of your choice and revel in their misery as they cock it up again - and then the bonus of Lineker post match..
-
Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
I'd rather Scotland personally, but they need to have a rethink about where they're going

Well done Scotland ,leave our man alone .

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
A turgid 1-0 win over T&T by our second XI doesn't seem too bad after all.

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
And they left McTominay (spelling ?) on the bench.

how the bloody hell is kazakhstan in Europe?

Of course they did. Surely you know that their best players play in the SPL (Sunday pub league)

No wonder Jimmy the Jock has become an adopted Welshman. The guy has sense!

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
Just switched on the radio and the first thing I heard was the BBC's Scottish football correspondent Roddy Forsyth in mid rant against the players who had decided to end their international career like Snodgrass, McArthur and Ritchie and those who ruled themselves out because of the plastic pitch like Fraser and Callum Paterson.
Darren Fletcher isn't happy with the last two either;-
https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/spo...n-ryan-fraser/
I can't say for certain how I'd feel if Paterson played for someone else, but he has had two long term absences from the game due to ligament injuries and so I can understand City being concerned about him playing on an artificial pitch.

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
I don’t want Scotland to do poorly for Patos sake, but I do get the past hyperbole around them and why people dislike them.
That team could quite easily have been us if it wasn’t for bale and Rambo.

Good question. Last September I visited Moldova (including Transnistria), Ukraine and Belarus - which meant that I have visited every 'European country'. However, I haven't visited 'every country in Europe' as Kazakhstan's western sliver extends westwards over the Urals, which means that most cartographers consider that part to be in Europe. Needlesss to say, I'm working on it.....

I don't think it's a geographical thing. I think it stems from the days of them being part of the USSR, and following the breakup all the constituent countries stayed with UEFA.

Indeed. Forgive me for going off at a tangent :-)
Some of the 'Stans' are not in UEFA I believe.

Time to forgive me then. I didn’t realise that they weren’t all there.

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
Strange as Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia are also in UEFA.

That one is definitely political. Can you imagine Iran vs Israel to qualify for the world cup?

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
Turkey ?, Israel is only in for political reasons as there is no question that it is not in Europe.

Indeed. Israel v various Arab countries is not considered to be conducive to a pleasant evening out at the footy. Turkey is partly in Europe but predominantly in Asia, of course.
Let's not move on to the dreaded Eurovision song contest....

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
Generally speaking I don't really bother watching or being concerned about other teams whom I don't support. However, Scotland and Bristol City fall outside this rule and I wish nothing but painful and embarrassing defeats on these two. Both , aside from a small period, have made me chuckle despite my two teams being probably equally as bad for the majority of my footballing life. Juvenile, probably but since when was football about reason?

Re: Kazakhstan vs Scotland
A couple of years ago I was working in Almaty for some oil companies and I was shown a map in/on which Kazakhstan as a country did not exist and all of the land (and mineral deposits therein ) were in fact Chinese and had always been part of China
According to the Chinese representatives

Can be easily missed when looking at a map.
Not as if it’s the biggest landlocked country in the world isit?

Take
1) Those representatives' lunatic views; and
2) UEFA's definition of Europe.
Conclusion: China is in Europe. Well done everyone!
