Young people ordering food in restaurants
Can I get?
FFS. This is maybe appropriate to ask at a buffet.
Who taught them English?

Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
Imagine being so bothered by such an innocuous thing.

Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
Personally don't see anything wrong this this....
'Can I get' a show of hands for anyone else who agrees? :)

Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
Absolutely hate the can I get statement, I think it must have come across the pond. I am waiting for someone to reply to a statement like can I get a pint of lager and a glass to wine with no I'll get it for you because you don't work here.
-
Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
Also what is all this business with starting a sentence with the word So.

Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
Language evolves and changes, no point getting in a state about it.
This board has become like the daily mail comments section of moaning old men.

But it's all the fillers that make language more interesting and nuanced. When you learn other languages you can measure your progress by adding such things rather than just getting by on the bare bones.

People have been saying this for millenia, buck the trend and don't become a miserable old **** by believing it.

In 1000 years they think there won't be a single word used today that retains its same meaning. Embrace the change

Exactly, get rid of the needless cynicism and life becomes a lot better.

I'm not sure football can cure the state of boredom some on here clearly suffer from.

It’s misery as well as boredom. The amount of pointless complaining on here is through the roof.
-
Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
I'd be more annoyed that they didn't say 'please'

Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
So guys how had your day been.
I dispise that. (Leave me alone)

Another Americanism I hate is pi$$ed.
When did the off get dropped off the end and the word alone stop meaning steaming?

Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
What about the aghast, absolutely shocked, this has never happened before in the history of mankind....... the long drawn out... ‘Oh (pause) My (pause) God ‘. Oh, and it’s the God given right of anyone over, say, 50 to complain about new sayings and the like:hehe:
-
Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
"Back in the day......" It should only be allowed after dark.
Marquee signing. A marquee is a big fugging tent
"Complete the form and give it back to myself" grrrrrrrrrr.
I feel better now I've had a moan

Re: Young people ordering food in restaurants
The Echo or Wales Online referring to anyone who played for the City, even if it was once or twice, as ‘City Star’, actually front page last week re. Leon Jeanne and again on inside pages to Omar Bogle in the article about his old man.

My extra hairy nutsack is in concurrence with the sweaty ball moons of Jupiter.
(That's how they'll say I agree in 1000 years).
