West Brom number 15s goading of our fans after their second goal.

What was that all about.
Surprised no one else has commented or did I miss it.

Very unprofessional and stupid.

He will get his comeuppance if he continues in that vein.

Austin wasn’t it? All a bit childish, made himself look a bit of a tit. Trust him to get the bloody third though!!

Why do football fans always get so annoyed about players giving it back a bit?

Possibly not but fans don't usually require an invitation to give out stick.

I don't mind players winding fans up so much, same as most chants, it's just banter and needs preserving.

The fans moaning about players winding fans up are the same ones who complain about the sterilisation of the game.

It’s a laugh isn’t it, if Charlie Austin winding you up after scoring a goal makes you angry maybe going to football isn’t for you.

One of the best non-city things I remember is Adebayor slowly running down the pitch to celebrate a Man City goal in front of the Arsenal fans just to wind them up even more.

Absolutely loved that. The anger from the fans is incredible, I just can’t imagine letting something related to football wind me up that much :hehe:

I remember Scott Murray running the entire length of the bob bank doing the ayatollah after scoring for Bristol City once. As annoying as it was I mostly felt fair play mate :hehe:

It also provided City fans with the opportunity to retort with ‘Murray do the ayatollah’ when we knocked them out of the play-off semis not so long after. Good times.

Charlie Austin got plenty of abuse from our fans near the front. After the Baggies scored their second he gloated and pointed at those who had given him some stick. Then scored the third down the other end later on. Reminiscent of Hazard getting some hassle at Chelsea and then running over to our fans to celebrate. At least Austin didn't get anything thrown at him. He overdid his goal celebrations but at least it was at the other end of the pitch.

Thanks. That makes sense now. You are right as from where I was standing he was looking and gesticulating a a particular section of our support throughout the goading.

As said above Scott Murray is the champion when it comes to celebrations against us.

Just a laugh and it was good to see he was a Bluebird deep down 😂

If we're going to deconstruct the relationship between fans and supporters - one example brought up in this thread being that fans have to recognise that players are going to give it back some - then part of it could also be players recognising how frustrating it is to see people on mega contracts dive and cheat.

Charlie Austin is a known cokehead. No surprise he was getting a bit excitable.

Got to be honest I audibly laughed when he started doing that, fella behind me started calling for the ref to send him off. The well 'ard, Stone Island core of our fan base really are softer than a roll of Andrex.

This is the one I would have stated, like everyone else in the ground at the time (except the BC fans) I was seething but have a little chuckle over it now, it's part and parcel, give a bit of grief, expect to take it back when the player has the opportunity. BANTER isn't it :biggrin:

I was quite chuffed when I worked out what the white thing was parading round the ground (I saw the advert on the score screen ) :)

I did wonder to myself what type of person puts that kit on then parades round a football ground?

My worst memory of a player giving abuse was a Sheffield United player at Ninian park running over to the Bob Bank after scoring their second or third . I thought what a c u n t .
I managed to get over it when a couple of years later we went to their ground and beat them ..... football has a habit of settling old scores eventually . Look at Man U these days , a laughing stock.

Hazard was fully aware of Belgium's failure to reach the Euro semis....we reminded him enough times. It was inevitable he would score and, as usual, it came back to bite us on the bum when he ran over to the City fans to celebrate. There was the same feeling of inevitability when Charlie Austin scored after the first half abuse he got.
