If we don't win convincingly tonight, lets hope the welsh FA show some balls, and get rid of Giggs!

SLOVAKIA v WALES - Match Thread
Kick of: 19:45
Location: Stadión Antona Malatinského / Slovakia
TV coverage: Sky Sports and S4C
Pre-match news:
BBC -
Wales boss Ryan Giggs does not believe the visit to Slovakia is a must-win match for his side as they look to play catch-up in Euro 2020 qualifying. Wales are in fourth place in Group E, trailing leaders Croatia, Slovakia and Hungary with four qualifiers left.
Wales have suffered a blow with the news that Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey again misses out through injury. Derby County midfielder Tom Lawrence, who is in court to face drink-driving charges two days after Wales play Croatia on Sunday, has also been nursing an injury and he missed training on Monday.
Wales are definitely without defender Chris Mepham, but in-form captain Ashley Williams looks set for a recall after impressing since joining Bristol City on a free transfer.

Re: SLOVAKIA v WALES - Match Thread
I would have played Ashley Williams tonight. That’s a very inexperienced centre back pairing. Also surprised Moore starts ahead of Wilson. I would take a draw tonight.

Moore this season for Wigan - 9 games, 0 goals, 0 assists

I can see the logic in starting Moore for his presence up front, although Roberts could have been another option. It's always a dilemma about where to play Bale, and he is most effective cutting in from the right.

It doesn’t make sense when Wilson is scoring goals at a higher level. Lose tonight and we are done.
-
Re: SLOVAKIA v WALES - Match Thread
That centre back pairing is very inexperienced- I would have played Davies in the centre. Does Moore offer anything more than Vokes?

Playing Bale, James & Wilson together up top lacks cohesion. I'd rather go for Matondo in that situation and blitz them with pace.

Bale as striker and Wilson and James down the flanks....it didn’t work in our last match admittedly but if we are going to play a traditional centre forward I would have preferred Vokes to Moore.

I can also see the logic in a big man with 3 behind, Wilson's not a bad option to bring on I suppose. Harsh on Vokes though
-
Re: SLOVAKIA v WALES - Match Thread
Moore or Vokes is a gamble. Both have little form so why play either?
I've not got a good feeling about tonight, happy to be proved wrong but I don't think it'll be easy watching either way.

Ampadu's earlier world class block is looking even more important now.

Refs a homer when it comes to carding players

Why does Jonnie Williams wanna do everything at 200 mph (kilometres for our younger viewers)

Absolutely. 2 tackles, 2 yellow cards, and hasn't put one of their players in yet. Ampadu was fouled before he made that tackle but the ref let it go...
Anyway, much better than recent performances, but we don't have a left back it seems. They are ripping us to pieces down our left, and they will take advantage at some point surely
-
Re: SLOVAKIA v WALES - Match Thread
Bale and Ampadu need to be careful in the second half. We don’t want to go down to ten.
That was a really good goal and Ampadu’s block was superb. We are being stretched though and look a bit short of numbers at the back.

Me too. I’m with you bro. Going to be a long second half.

Re: SLOVAKIA v WALES - Match Thread
Great work by James for the goal. Moore is a right handful for them too, let's hope we can keep this up as I fancy another goal for Wales out of this
-
Re: SLOVAKIA v WALES - Match Thread
Credit where it's due, excellent first half by Moore who, apart from the goal, has put himself about and looked a decent target.
Has been roughed up a bit too but had little support from this ref who, as has been said, looks like a homer.
Huge 45 minutes now though and hopefully the Ampadu booking earlier won't affect his performance.
Joe Allen was on a yellow before this game so that may be relevant come Croatia game.
Come on the crowd, be our12th man!!!
