Liverpool 1 - 0 ATM
Liverpool chucking everything at Atletico but is it ripe for a smash & grab ? (Warboys & Bannister, for older viewers:-))
They’re missing some chances and the Atletico ‘keeper, although he’d never make a backstop, doesn’t half clear his lines with his punches and palms out.
Atletico still hanging on, but I think defensively minded football has had its day. It's only because Liverpool didn't convert their chances that Atletico are still in it.
As I was saying :hehe:
Whatever happens tonight, Diego Simeone will still go down as the last great practitioner of the defensive game. It should have been all over in normal time, so it's a very risky strategy, and nine times out of ten Liverpool win it.
2-2!
If it stays like this will it be ‘Simeone tactical genius’ or a tale of poor finishing and the performances of two goalkeepers? Also Liverpool’s defending has been shocking again as it has these last couple of weeks.
That Liverpool crowd has gone very quiet:hehe:
Sludge is distraught.
3-2 Atletico
We should have gone for Simeone:hehe:
Liverpool have had 34 shots will 11 on target, Atletico having had 10 shots and 6 on target. If Liverpool were able to get 60% of shots on target they would be out of sight but Klopp's sides always create so many chances for the same 2-3 goals per game. Diego Simeone may be a genius at defensive play but getting 60% of their shots on target is why they're so successful.
VVD centre forward.
The mighty Klopp has just morphed into Neil Warnock!
pool were awful
exposed by a team that can
great result
One of those magical European Anfield nights.
Michael Owen saying Liverpool are still the best team in Europe, it was down to the two goalkeepers, Lineker comes in with the missing of chances. I’ll go with Lineker, Gary Madine would have notched for Liverpool tonight!!
Apart from a spell around Christmas, Liverpool habe been "off" all season - their record domestically and The record of English clubs once the Champions League turned into a knock out tournament is proof that the Premier League is nowhere near as good as all of the hype would have you believe.
I thought Liverpool were the better team overall. The stats at 90 minutes showed how they dominated the game. Salah had an off-night and Adrian is nowhere the keeper Allison is. Whatever, shit happens. Their fans will have to make do with being current European champions and future English Champions. That would do nicely for me. Just once. In my whole life.
Devastated
That they didn't lose by a far higher margin
I love it when the likes of liverpool united etc get knocked out of europe
You have to have great admiration for the liverpool side of the seventies that won the european cup , which in those days wasnt the capitalist cash cow it's become
And people always forget forest under clough , what a tremendous side they were , based not on big names but team spirit
That's what football should be about , not all this money crap
I thought they were having a record breaking season until the game against Watford?
'Liverpool's Champions League exit does not take gloss off outstanding season'
