40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
Would you go? Im in a 50/50 mind frame because if I get covid I’ll probably miss the birth.
I didn’t attend Barnsley game for a different reason, so this would be my first game back since pre covid

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
If you decide to go, make sure that you get written and signed permission from the wife. And keep it somewhere safe, because you will probably need it, every season for the rest of your life.

Cardiff vs Millwall, Saturday afternoon kick-off... Covid might be the least of your concerns! :hehe:

By my calculation, she's gone over? If you do go, then you're a brave man, although, you could end up a part of the club that has their name called out over the Tannoy to let you know that your wife has gone into Labour. Personally, the chance of that call over the Tannoy would swing it for me.

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
My lad was in the same situation in 2018.
Huddersfield, 1st(?) home game in the prem.
He stayed at home, and when the game ended I had a grandson!
Depends how you balance family and footie, but I wouldn't miss the birth of my child( was there for all 4 of the blighters)
Regarding the tannoy msg, it may come too late!

Family first

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
I'm guessing that there will be a lot more football matches in your life than births of children.
-
Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
You will remember and perhaps more importantly, be reminded forever about missing the birth longer than you will ever remember the score.
-
Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
I was in similar situation in 2018 , missed the Newcastle game, I wouldn’t risk it you’ll only get the one chance to be at the birth
-
Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
You never seem to hear those tannoy announcements any more.
They were quite regular back in the day at Ninian Park.

I missed the city games for birth of my girls and funnily enough I remind them of the city games I missed because of it!
Think it worked out better that way round as well.

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
If you're the father, stay at home. If you're not, meet me in the Cornwall at 1pm. :hehe:
-
Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
The fact that you're asking is the worrying aspect
-
Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
I’m inclined to agree with The Bloop
But
It all depends where you live matey?
Canton or Grangetown areas and I’d be tempted to go until at least half time 😂😂👍
Wouldn’t want to miss a Bacuna hat trick ⚽️⚽️⚽️

I agree , the lad needs to be tucked up in bed ready for the big match
Not even up for debate

Yup, and if a car owner had left their lights on, or the best of the lot was when some blokes wife was trying to contact them-mobile phones is why we don't hear the announcements anymore, and i suppose society has changed, more specifically men's responsibilities.

Tannoy to a coach driver of Stockport hooligans
Please report to the police , your vehicle has been extensively damaged

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
City are definitely playing at 3pm, theres a 50/50 chance the baby will arrive tomorrow. Decision is obvious.
-
Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
I'd go to the birth me, whilst going to football sounds good, you just know we're gonna play dire football, lose 1-0 and get soaking wet
-
Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
Are you allowed in now then? I've lost touch with all the covid rules.
Mate recently had his third kid and he wasn't allowed in, but I've got no clue if all that changed the other week..
If you aren't allowed to be in the room, it won't matter if you are called from outside the hospital to go in, or from inside the stadium 👍

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
So what was the decision?

My missus wanted her mother with her when she gave birth, she said that i would get bored and do her head in. Her words, not mine.

My missus likes to remind me that I spent most of the time watching football on tv during labour for our first.

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow

It wasn't your fault that they had a TV in there :hehe:

My missus reminds me that I fell asleep (twice) whilst she was trying to evacuate our first 🙂

My missus is a midwife, she's working today after annual leave.
There's a sign for you

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow

Exactly my thoughts when I saw this thread. Neither do you hear the "would car registration number X please return to your car as you are parked across a drive" or similar.

I'm sure you are. We had a baby at the start of the first lockdown when people.still took it seriously. I wasn't allowed into the unit until she reached some part of proper labour so she was in there on her own for most of a poirot box set in the car. But even after I got in, I was there for a good 7 hours before the birth and about 7 after, too. I got a right bollocking from a midwife because I left the unit to go get some fresh air for 20 mins when the baby was asleep because apparently once you leave you cannot re-enter.

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
Your options on Saturday were: Either witnessing the love of your life being involved in a painful but very rewarding experience - or not going to the game and staying with the wife. :getscoat:

Very good.
:hehe:

Re: 40 week pregnant wife-match tomorrow
Whilst the experience of child-birth can be pretty grim (and ultimately cathartic), it's not as if you are talking about a particularly important fixture with a particularly attractive set of teams. As a footballing experience this probably doesn't rate very highly.
If you were doubting over watching Wales in a quarter final of the Euros........then I would probably understand....but....
