Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/...dates-21902363
Paul Abbandonato again - but there is reason to think he has a back channel to Mehmet Dalman and may know what the board are considering:
Chris Wilder (available)
Chris Hughton (available)
Craig Bellamy with or without Mark Bowen (both available)
Ryan Lowe (Plymouth)
Michael Duff (Cheltenham)
Michael Flynn (available)
Gareth Ainsworth (Wycombe)
Mark Hughes (available)
Eddie Newton (available)
Mark Hudson (Huddersfield u23s?)
Steve Morison
Brian Barry-Murphy (Man City u23s)

Wilder would be my pick, but whomever is coming in - Dalman has stated in the last 2 hours there is no money for purchases in January...so Tan is hoping God is willing.

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
Well if everyone wants to see us try to get it down & play football look no further than Michael Duff at Cheltenham as he certainly fits that criteria.

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
Looks like it’s going to be………………..Hughton if the board carry on their trusted recruitment policy. Aargh……

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
No chance it'll be Bellamy
Hughton is just more of the same

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
I reckon that over the first half of City’s league existence (56 years) they had 12 managers, during the 2nd 56 years, during my time & counting Scoular in both halves, we’ve had 32 managers! Sign of the times & expectation me thinks

similar story at most clubs I'd imagine

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
Can you see our lot appoitning a Man City under 23 coach?
Duff’s done a good job at Cheltenham on a limited budget. Probably plays too much football for us though.
-
Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
Has to have managed in the championship, has to be available, has to be what is considered a "safe pair of hands".
Will be Pulis probably.
Maybe they will surprise us with some young foreign manager with fresh ideas. Probably too much risk though.

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
No one has mentioned Eddie Howe, is he a possibility?
-
Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
It would have to be a manager who can't spend, so my money is on Steve Morison with a Lenny Lawrence experinced back room influence.
Or Harris returns as I believe he is still being paid ??

Pullis on a contract until the end of the season. Gets us up to tenth, comfortably. 2 year contract after that. Nailed on.

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
Brian Barry-Murphy would be a brilliant appointment, if we could get him. Just think of the loan signings...
Nobody mentioning Neil Critcheley. He'd be another good prospect.

You can immediately write off anyone currently in a job, we're skint.

Don't be daft. Not even a remote chance.

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
Expect more of the same after Dalman's comment about limiting risk.
As somebody mentioned on another thread it is as if he looks at the manager's CV and goes for experience in the league and doesn't really consider where they fit into the club like many forward thinking teams do.

I have to agree, they pass the ball well out the back, hold on to possession and break well. He's limited with the players he has and the funds available......nothing different to here. Could be an interesting, long term, appointment.

100% this.
Also, was it Hughton who we interviewed years ago and he brought the wrong PowerPoint presentation to the interview? First slide was something like “10 Reasons Why I Should Manage Doncaster”.
Always loved that story.

Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
What quality manager are we going to get if he’s not going to be financially supported in January or next summer ?
-
Re: Runners and Riders - WOL list of possibles for new manager
No Phil Brown on the list?
Fits the bill perfectly. Available, old, limited success years ago.

Well everyone out of a job has been mentioned so why not him? Personally I think it may be Steve Morison, cheap, already here and knows the players. In the present climate might not be a bad choice.

Lowe from Plymouth would be my choice ...then Duff.....both hungry to get ahead, Compensation would be a problem. Hope to goodness we do not go for one the perennial roundabout managers.

Looks like we might be needing lots of loans too if the financial situation is as bad as it seems.
This would have been the perfect appointment in the summer instead of giving MM a permanent deal. Maybe too much of a gamble now, or should we just look long term, regardless of what happens this season?

Why would Critchley come here? Blackpool have a better chance of staying up than we do.
