Yep, anyone who went to the game for a Bank Holiday treat probably won't come back in a hurry.

Anyone thinking watching the City as being a treat needs treatment!

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
Awful today, could easily have drifted into a coma first half
-
Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
I thought it was a really good game except for the he goal
I've seen lots worse than that..

I’ve seen worse but seen MUCH better. No shape, no urgency, owed us one after the last home game and were almost as bad.

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
If it wasn't for Derby and Readings point deductions we'd still be looking over our shoulder with difficult trips to Boro and Sheff utd to come.

What did fans expect?
Safe from relegation and nohing to play for.
Manager trying a few things.

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
currently on the M4 with the missus driving. first game in a long time. that game reminded me of a meal made with old scraps from the fridge. dreadful, unappealing, random, fragmented. I am not a football coach but have seen enough games to know that what I witnessed today was grim and clueless. sorry but Morrison is not the man imho.

The squad is barely Championship standard. He's playing a lot of young players who really aren't as good as many believe, many at the end of contracts and knowing they'll be on the way, plus the loanees who'll be returning to their clubs. It's not ideal.

Next season is already shaping up to be a long one.

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
yeh but a lot of it is basic stuff. there were too many gaps in midfield to build attacks up and poor support to the forwards. Vaulks also leaves me cold and made some very odd decisions.

The team featured only one player who is out of contract at the end of the season - Vaulks.

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
It's the interminable (lower) mid-table slog of a 46 game championship. We need 6 teams going up and down - that would increase the tension - or promotion and relegation twice a year. That might be a bit radical though. Or a symptom of my low boredom threshold.

Yeah coz the game before was outstanding too…..

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
Not sure how people are basing next season on the last few games. Clearly we are trying some things with what we have.
I’m glad we don’t have the “thrill” of battling relegation.

Absolutely but it's still drab

Or quite possibly, it could be a very enjoyable one.
At present, the manager is at pains to tell us that the group of players currently at his disposal is not fit for purpose. If he gets to revamp the team as he wishes in the close season, there will be no hiding place for him or his side so fingers crossed he gets it right.

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
I’d like to know what new things were tried today? Shooting, crossing, heading? Nope.

We have gotten away with it this season that’s for sure that we can have the luxury of these 5 games of freedom.
However some shouldn’t be on the beach already and use the opportunity to put to in an audition for the next move or contract extension.

4 at the back.
There's one Dave.

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
Dylan Phillips nearly scored at the end. Header from a corner

Vaulks seemed to actually aim the corner at Phillips!

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
Was going to try and traverse the M5 traffic from Exmouth and make the game. In the end thought better of it. Just as well judging by most fans comments on the game.

Where are you based, old fruit? I confess that I went walking on Dartmoor rather than use my ST today.

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
We had two golden chances but missed them and thought the ref had a shocker in the 2nd half particularly - thought we did okay today for a side playing for little against a side playing for everything
Didn't cause us much trouble at all apart from the goal.
We appear a work in progress and I for one am quite excited about next season - can't wait
Just watching the WBA forest game and two players one from each side got booked and gave away free kicks for similar tackles on Davies both of which we got nothing and the first of which led to the goal

He tried to keep Vaulks away from the long throw-ins until desperation took hold.

No we wouldn't. We'd be 18th, Peterborough and Barnsley would be virtually relegated and we'd have a game in hand over Hull and Birmingham below us with us still being above Reading and Bristol City.

Just a holiday old bean. Looks like you made the right decision.

So just 4 points above third bottom Birmingham then, who we play in our final home game.....that's looking over your shoulder big time.

I think that is an excellent analogy.
But SM has to be given the summer to shift out players and bring players in and get a decent pre-season.
Jury is still out on SM, but he can hardly be blamed for the 'scraps' that are on the pitch having inherited an extremely unbalanced and limited squad caused by successive managers stripping out pace and flair.

What game were you watching ? It wasn't Cardiff v Luton that's for sure.

Re: Christ what a drab end to the season ........
I've said it before and ill say it again,if we dont get a ball winner and a playmaker in midfield we are going nowhere. As far as im concerned Doyle has been ok but never a Whittingham and Vaulks is a liability. How he has not been sent off this season i dont know. We just do not create enough chances, even at home. Defence need sorting too. Hugill has done ok but not the answer. Come to think of it we need a new team.

The first half was pathetic and the second half got slightly better.
