They are sort of connected because it's about Wales, and Page is using the Nations League to look at fringe players before finalising his World Cup squad.
I tried making the other post a long-form topic specific thread, as when Mike reorganised the board some posters said they would like to see longer posts on certain subjects, and a Wales thread seemed like a good candidate. Maybe they need to be Sticky to make it more obvious?

Re: Wales might not 'risk' Gareth Bale against Belgium
So everything that mentions Wales, goes into one thread, is it.
Prices, different players, spare tickets, transports, etc, etc, etc
Won’t work in my estimation

It's up to the boss to decide how it is structured. My thread was about players and games, and things happening around the games.
I don't mind having hundreds of threads on the same topic, I was just taking onboard the thoughts of other posters.

It looks like Brennan Johnson is going to be doing the heavy lifting in Qatar. I can't see Bale playing every minute of every game, unless something extraordinary happens. Ditto Aaron Ramsey. There must also be doubts about Brooks too, and the World Cup may be too soon for him. The only highpoint is Neco, Ben Davies, Mepham, Rodon & Ampadu going into the World Cup with with top class minutes behind them, so we should be better prepared defensively.

Wilson not fit until Nov 5th

Relegation specialist Ethan Ampadu going for the hat trick

I've been through all the Ranger's forums, and I can't find a single person who has anything good to say about Matondo's performances on the pitch. You appear to be the only person on the planet who thinks he is going to win this years Ballon d'Or
Moving on, what I am saying is if we do manage to get out of our World Cup group, it will be based on our defensive performances, and Ampadu is a part of that. The five players I mentioned are all playing in the Top 5 European leagues and getting regular minutes, which has to be a good thing. What we won't be doing is advancing because Rabbi (or any other player) beats 11 players, and scores a hattrick in every game.

I can't see Johnson starting if Bale is fit, he may even be behind Moore dependent on our opposition's strengths

He's just scored 2 good goals for Wales and you want to leave him on the bench?

Who does he start ahead of? Dan James is key to the way Wales play, his pressing, work rate, intensity and pace enable us to compete against better teams by putting them on the back foot and enable our counter attacking play. He also does the work of two men, enabling Bale to pop up at opportune moments. Until Johnson can provide that then James will start ahead of him. Moore also provides another outlet than Johnson can't in his height, that will suit us against certain teams, but in general I'd rather bring Johnson on ahead of Moore
Unless of course you're suggesting we start Johnson ahead of Bale?

Because in games with limited chances Johnson is the player who is most likely to score, and even when he's not involved in the play he can still come up with a perfect finish. Besides that, he is a very good penalty taker.

I think you are asking the wrong question, 3 of our best players currently have worrying fitness issues.

You stated Johnson would be doing the heavy lifting at the World Cup, so I don't think asking who he's starting ahead of is the wrong question
Our key players have had fitness issues for ages and we've dealt with them. I expect both Ramsey & Bale to be fit and raring to go in Qatar.
I really like Johnson, I think he's an excellent player and sometime very soon he'll be a nailed on starter for Wales but there are reasons he isn't at the moment

I don't think we will be starting any of the games with our absolute best team on the pitch, and it will be all about player management. Any team will suffer without a fully fit Bale, Ramsey, Wilson & Brooks, as that is where all our creativity comes from. Johnson is more unpredictable and he is capable of the unexpected even if he is having a quiet game, so he's a starter for me with Neco & Brennan playing down the right. Bale can play more central if he is fit.

Who are you leaving out then? Who's at left back if Williams is being moved over? Roberts won't be able to provide what Williams does on that side and you'll have disrupted the defensive setup just before a major tournament
The only way I think Johnson starts at the World Cup is if Bale can't, he'll definitely be one of the first off the bench.

Yeah, you're probably right mate. Neco at left back, Johnson on the bench, a knackered Bale hobbling down the right wing, while Moore elbows anybody within elbowing range. Ampadu reverts to RCB ensuring a sh*t midfield, and the boss enjoys a game of cards every night with Jonniesta and 200 caps Chris.

We really need him to be at the top of his game, as he is one of the few players who can link attack with the defence.

Re: Wales might not 'risk' Gareth Bale against Belgium
I’d be quite happy to target the USA and Iran games and rest players for the England game. Why delay the inevitable heart ache, let’s get through the group.
