Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
The USA’s FIFA rank is distorted due to their competition. Their competitive opponents in 2022 are El Salvador, Granada, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Honduras and Canada.
That’s the calibre of team they played to qualify for the World Cup.
Forget the occasion, we’ve got the ability to beat the USA as long as we don’t get overwhelmed by it being the World Cup.

Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
Wales are arguably, man for man the better team.
First game, neither side wanting to lose. Low scoring draw 1-1.
Worry that refereeing decisions will cost us.

Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
I've seen a few places that think Hennessey starts. Surely given his form in the PL for Leicester Ward plays?

Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
After watching the Iran game I think we just throw caution to the wind and go for two wins. My fear is that Page is too defensively minded and we’ll limp out of the group.

Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
Winner of this finishes 2nd imo. England look very good and Iran look very shit. A draw would be bad for both sides leaving progression probably down to goal difference so hopefully we see some attacking intent and get a win. Would put the boys on a high before the game on Friday.

I would be delighted with limping out of the group

Page played Wilson, Allen and Ramsey in midfield vs Austria. I think it’s extremely unfair to call him defensive. I think he will do the same tonight and save Moore for Iran

Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
I just got over 2/1 against Wales. I'm not much of a gambler but I had to take that. The USA are basically fielding a bunch of kids. I know that's not exactly a term to which one should refer football-wise. But I thought fukc it. One last hurrah for the Magician. Come on boys!

Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
Fun Facts:
Only Roberts & Bale for Wales not playing in a Top 5 European league.
Only one home-based player in the US starting XI (Zimmerman - Nashville FC).
Ampadu & Adams were flatmates at RB Leipzig.

Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
I think the coach's selection and likely set up is a pretty much the right choice for this game.
The U.S. are the second youngest squad in the competition. They will be going 100mph and we need to live with that for the first 20-30 minutes before looking to sneak one. I think we've a bit more finesse and guile than the yanks but I think Pulisic will make a monkey out of Roberts and above all we don't want to be chasing the game. You'd say that if Ramsey and Bale were anything like fit there would be much more confidence within the ranks. Important that the coach has prepared the team to know what to do if Wales go in front or if they go behind. No headless chickens today.
Feeling nervous. :wales:

Ampadu is the key man, if he doesn't get a grip on midfield fairly quickly it's going to be a long night.

Re: WALES v U.S.A. Match thread. 21st Nov - 7pm
Would have had Ward in over Hennessy, hope that doesn’t come back to bite us.
