FT: BLACKPOOL 1 - 3 CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Blackpool likely to set up 532. Will be strong ish in air, weaker on flanks. Expect us to match up, but we may have a problem if Ng out which I suspect he will be after his injury. Question mark 0ver ODowda as well.
If we stick to 532 team may be:
Allsopp
Romeo Simpson McGuinness Cedric Ralls
Sawyers Philogene Wintle
Colwill Kaba

Blackpool are dicey at the back but useful going forward. Dont think that's the way to play this game. We mustn't sit back. We do have a couple of layers capable of scoring.

I cant see Romeo in the back 3.
I dont think he will have any alternative is Simpson doesnt start, but to go 433 with Romeo and Ralls at the back and Philogene and Davies up top with Kaba. I would like to find a place in mf for Colwill as well, with Sawyers and Wintle.
Interesting selection headache for the manager. What he decides is likely to define our season.
Two thing I am sure of is that we must not be scared of a poor Blackpool outfit and Ojo cannot be trusted to start after his lethargic performance v Swansea.

4 3 3 for me
Alsop
Romeo
Mcguiness
Kipre
Ng/Bagan
Wintle
Sawyers
Colwill
Philogene
Wickham
Kaba

Re: Team for Blackpool
Think we need to get Philogene to see as much of the ball near the Blackpool box as possible. Would either play him just behind Kaba or behind Kaba and Wickham/Etete.
Back 4 if Ng's out.

BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Bank Holiday Friday, April 7th, ko 3:00pm.
Match is not listed for Sky Red Button coverage unlike a number of others at the same time.
Match Officials:
Referee: JOSH SMITH
Assistants: Matthew Jones and Akil Howson
Fourth Official : Sebastian Stockbridge
Cardiff could do themselves a very big favour by winning this one.

Defeat unthinkable but Blackpool will be well up for this one. Be hiding behind the sofa from 3pm Friday.

I'll be hiding behind a tangerine seat.
Just booked a hotel overnight on Thursday and tickets for the game on Friday.

I was going to say enjoy but not likely given the importance of the game. We will be on pins until final whistle blows.

He is just not the guy for a fight. That's what we are badly lacking now. Fighters.
Wish Morrison had signed contract with us(know he's been injured). If half fit he would have made a hell of a difference.
-
Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Madine would have been well up for the fight(as we well know). Wouldn't have minded him in our side now. Thank goodness he's out for the season.

What is it with us and moving on!!!
Anyway
433 for me.
Keep Simpson away.
Getbl Ralls back on the bench as well.
Philogene behind 2 strikers,so really a 4312

If Simpson never pulls on a City shirt again, I'll be happy.!
Agree about Ralls too, I don't want to see him starting.

I'm a sucker for the hype, I was taken in with what Morison was saying about him, and thought as he's a left sided CB it would be an advantage for us. But he hasn't been good.
Sure he played with the kids today, in a back 4 with Denham.
I don't want it to sound like it's personal with Ralls, as I know I have gone on a bit lately, but he really shouldn't start for us again.
-
Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
If Ng is out we have to go back 4 I think. Simpson starting is unthinkable. Then again so was not pressing the Jacks high up the pitch.
-
Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Ng and O'Dowda would be big misses for us, leaves us short at centre back and wing back unless Simpson (:yikes:) or Bagan are called back in from the cold
-
Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Well if there was ever a game we need to win - this is it now. We are on the verge of dropping into the bottom 3 and climbing back out of there maybe very difficult. Get 3 points here and some of the pressure is lifted a little. Obvious I know but this game is really important.
-
Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
We need to view this for what it is, a big chance to almost seal Blackpool's fate. If we win we would be 7 points clear of them with them having 6 games remaining. They'd be as good as gone.
They will know this more than most of course and will be well up for it. After our showing against Swansea, this is the part that worries me. If the players follow up that Swansea 'effort' with another against a relegation rival then I fear the worst. Even Tan panicking and sacking Lamouchi might not be totally out of the question if he goes full panic mode.

Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I'm thinking Ng may be out but O'Dowda ok. If so I'd go for
Allsop
Romeo Kipré McGuinness O'Dowda
Wintle Sawyers
Davies Colwill Philogene
Kaba

That's pretty decent, given our injuries.

Flashscore showing us with Adams, Collins and Robinson out.
Them with Trybull, Stewart, Madine, Lavery, Goode, Ekpiteta and Bridcutt
Not sure how accurate that is.

We don't want to give Blackpool too much ballroom.

Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
I'd go as far as saying that our season and survival hinges purely on these Easter Weekend fixtures.
The three teams are currently 20th, 21st and 22nd in the last 5 game form table.
Sunderland having picked up 5 points from their past 5 games, Blackpool and Us 4 points each.
Both games are winnable and arguably the most winnable from any of our remaining games.
If we are in the drop zone after these two then I feel we could be going down.
Huddersfield are 10th in the same form table which shows that if they even continue that form they will comfortanbly pass us without a big upturn in form from us.

Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
The ref who didn't send Madine off last time we played them is in charge again.

Stating the obvious, but this can go one of 2 ways. Either he doubles down and acts an even bigger twat, or he gifts us something to make up for it.

Re: BLACKPOOL v CARDIFF CITY. Match thread
Two cup finals in four days, not sure this team has the minerals to see this out and keep us up.
Can see this game after back to back disasters making it a hat trick. 2-0 Blackpool.
