Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
Well beaten tonight. Page was clueless, and so was his team. Everyone thought that this was a game of about how many Wales would win by. Page has been living on borrowed time for a while. He’s not good enough, his team is not good enough, and he never had anyone to do anything about it, when the game was slipping away. Full credit to Armenia. They deserved their win, and shouldn’t be under estimated in future. Turkish Delight awaits.

Thanks. For someone who usually puts such a positive spin on things, it must have been bad....

Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
very naïve from us, especially after we went 1 up
-
Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
I don't think we have seen what this team is capable of.
They might be second rate. But even so, I'd like to see what they can do under an experienced manager.
-
Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
Might as well give it to Tony Pullis if Connor Roberts is hurling in long throws like Rory Delap.

They'll be crying in their beer by the Potomac.

Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
Think the team spirit and a bit of magic rolling back the years by Bale, plus more than a slice of luck in a few key moments have given us a false sense of where we still are. Page is a truly dire manager tactically, the second half of the Latvia game was one of the most inexplicably bad managerial displays I've ever seen, he might as well have been taking a nap. Never the manager to bring the next generation through, if/when he gets sacked he'll be lucky to get a job at the same level as Morison.

We do look likely to get a play off spot, so all might not be lost when we lose on Monday (we will)... but I'm not sure I'd fancy us to get through the playoffs.

I can't even begin to work out how that works with the Nations League

They've been falling for a year and more - the three worthwhile results we've had in that time (Ukraine, USA and Croatia) have all had varying degrees of luck to them.

Really? I'd say we're heading for a fourth placed finish on the evidence of our performances so far.

Bob because we were nations league group A we are pretty much guarenteed a play off spot that way.

Fair enough, but I'd say that, at the moment, we're doing a good job of proving that situation is unfair.
Remember the talk about us giving our World Cup place to Ukraine after we'd beaten them? I'd say there's more justification in giving our Play Off place to someone else if we keep on playing like that with what I'd say Rob Page would have regarded as his strongest side apart from the fact he would have found a place for Neco Williams in it.

Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
Three things need to change
Page out, totally out of his depth
The twat who thought changing the country’s name from Wales, needs to go, typical marketing man, probably got a hard on with his brilliant idea to justify his wages
Kieffer, what a complete Billy big Bolllocks, with his half hearted attempts to get his head on anything, no doubt some Championship club will be signing him in August on loan, a useless lazy tosser

Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
Yip - you can stick your fkn cymru up your ass.

Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
It has been coming to be fair.
Page should have gone a long time ago, was an ok temp appointment, to make it permanent was silly, to stick with it this long just lazy.
We are limited in what we can do, we need the best manager and coaches around him that we can afford to get the most out of the squad.

Saw Osian Roberts outside the ground before the game and thought "I wonder what he's doing now?"
No need to worry though, Cymru got good old Gunts on the coaching staff so it'll be alright on the night.
Have some faith.

And Alan Knill. Don’t forget him.
It really does have the look of a League One coaching set-up. At best.

The gradual transformation of the Welsh football team and FA into something akin to a nationalistic cult, has left me cold. The manager and now doubt some of the players have subscribed to the Cymru hype. Last night we learnt about the new backroom team form Man Utd and West Ham who are going to be working with our young, innovative manager. Thank f.... for the City for all their shortcomings..

Page, Knill and Gunter.
Good to see the defensive coaching is working out well.

Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
We wont sack Page now but he should never have been appointed.
I think people are overestimating the ability of some of our players.
Saying that the performances of our better players like Johnson , Ampadu were well below par. Unless we are seriously overestimating them as well.
If we did remove Page I think we should give Cameron Toshack an opportunity.

That’s possible, but there’s no denying the side have become a tactical shambles under Page. While some of the players may well be overrated, the current set-up looks hopelessly disorganised.

I dont disagree. We were cut apart by Armenia easily , 2 goals with players caught in possession , balls too easily going in the box. Even if we say Wales players are mostly good Championship players that should have been more than enough to beat Armenia let alone ship 4 and it could easily have been a couple more.
I dont think the Welsh FA will remove him though.

Nah not having that. Theres no way this wales squad should be outplayed by armenia like that. For me there was more than enough ability in that starting team to match armenia.
Or are we really saying the armenians were of greater individual ability which is why we lost?
No way. We lost because we have been poor for a few years now and page just has to go.

The set up of the team, the tactics and game management was a shambles.
Whether or not players are being overestimated or off the pace isn't the real problem here. Page is.
He was far too slow to change a game in Euro 2020/21 against Denmark and still reacts to what's going on in the game as if he's in an induced coma.
Never too bothered about Wales results as we all remember being really shiit but that performance was shocking.
Page saying its a "reality check..." for him I'm assuming? A result like last night has been in the offing since his tenure began.
He's either buying time or deluded.

I think Page did okay first up, but he and his team have been struggling for a while now and that four year contract felt like a mistake at the time.
Cameron Toshack seems a decent shout, Steve Cooper wouldn't take the job and I'm not sure about Nathan Jones as an international manager, but I can see us soldiering on with Page because of how much compensation we'd have to pay him if he was sacked.

Never interested in Wales in the past
Now a top pundit
Who would have thought it eh ?
-
Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
A bunch of polls going around on Twitter today. One saying 83% want Page out. Another saying 96% Page out.
-
Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
lets be honest, Page and Cookie both fell on their feet, they had a good team who would run through a brick wall for each other, oh and they had a certain Mr Bale
I always liked Pagey, he was proud of being asked to do the job, it brought into the current proud welsh thing that the players were all about, it worked at the time, but he isnt that tactically aware, when you take off Rambo ( a potential match winner ) when chasing the game and Bring on Morrell you know things aren't going well
But having said that, is the pool of players now getting back to being average at best, Morrell, Bradshaw, Broadhead all lower league players, we were lucky to have enjoyed that " golden generation "
Oh and its been mentioned, I bet 90% plus at the ground were English speaking Welsh supporters, its fine to speak English and still be a proud Welshie in my eyes, the FAW have certainly pushed the welsh speaking thing to the extreme, maybe its Time to ease of on that push for a while, as if results dont go our way, people will be looking for any old excuse to not feel part of it and leave it behind

Page should be relieved of his duties now
But the fact as you infer is that the players are average and expectation levels must lessen
Nothing wrong with that

What's pushing the 'Welsh' thing in your eyes?
Bilingualism, Yma O Hyd or referring to Wales as Cymru?
I don't think the Welsh FA are endorsing and supporting burning holiday homes?
Funnily enough City fans did once upon a time.

Anything that is successful in Wales they will jump on and try and force more welshness on it…..

Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
I'm an English only speaking Welshie and have at no point felt I have been pushed to learn or speak Welsh.
To counter your final point wouldn't easing back on their Welsh language output alienate the Welsh speakers amongst our fanbase? Surely we should be encouraging everyone born or living here to feel an affinity with our national team.

Re: Put your bucket hats back in the wardrobe.
So Welsh signage let in 4 goals last night?
