CONFIRMED - Panzo signing on loan
-
Re: Panzo signing on loan
No idea if he's any good, but must be an upgrade on Simpson.
-
Re: Panzo signing on loan
Mark Robins thought highly of him whilst Panzo played for Coventry last season.
It's a start.

Panzo and the Greek to start tomorrow?
More likely Panzo and McGuiness.
This news nice and early surely one more at least?

Re: Panzo signing on loan
It’s going to be interesting now we have 3 starting centre halves who will have to warm the bench. Someone is not going to be happy, Panzo started 32 times for Coventry last season.

Re: Panzo signing on loan
I can't see how this works out unless we go 3 at the back. As Des says, someone isn't going to be happy.

Apparently, he got injured in early February, having been a regular in the Coventry side until then. He was back on the bench from mid-March onwards, but never regained his spot in the starting line-up.
Only 22, spells in Belgium and France. It'll be interesting to see how he does. Has to be better than Simpson, that's for sure.

It was 25 starts, 7 sub apps.

Re: Panzo signing on loan
I don't think Goutas is a 90 minutes player.
Panzo and McGuinness to start asap.
So if we do end up signing Moore on loan (don't think we will personally), we will have to leave one of Bowler, Grant, Ugbo, Panzo, Runarsson, Moore out of the matchday squad every week.

Goutas to the bench until he gets his chance again, he's made a few more mistakes than McGuiness, who'll also have to be careful and fight to keep the shirt, it's how it should be, the same in midfield and on the wings, we need another left back to give Collins a kick up the arse, and Striker.

There will be injuries and suspensions like this week Bowler is out, if any loans have a knock of any sort don't risk them, it could work well.

Re: Panzo signing on loan
So Swansea miss out on Panzo and now Keinan Davis who's going to Udinese.

Panzo to score the winner against them, it's written in the stars!

Still talk of another Centre half coming in.

Really? You can't see how this works out?
Maybe because its a very long season and there will definitely be injuries and suspensions?
Maybe because there has to be pressure on people's positions?
Maybe because different games require different teams.
Surely it's well known and agreed you need 2 people strongly competing for each position?

I think I read that Panzo was a 'left sided centre back', so it could possibly be that he's cover for LB as well.

Yes it says that in Wales online, he could be very useful

I vaguely remember him being highly rated at Chelsea and then Monaco
Lots of games and experience for a 22 year old and part of that good England u17 side. Promising on paper. Can also cover left back I believe

Re: CONFIRMED - Panzo signing on loan
And signed in time to play tomorrow

Re: CONFIRMED - Panzo signing on loan
Nice to add a World Cup winner to the squad.
In the Panzo announcement video on Twitter, who’s that poking their head around the corner? It’s not… is it?

I was a bit concerned looking at his record that he'd barely played any games in 2021/22. I thought he might have had some sort of a long-term injury. However, it turns out that the Dijon side he was a part of during 2020/21 finished rock bottom of Ligue 1 (by a distance), and I don't think the stats sites include the details of games from the French second tier, so that's probably the reason for the lack of game stats in the first half of 2021/22.
Panzo is older than McGuinness by three months. They'd make an interesting and very young centre-back pairing for sure. Looks a potentially decent signing to me and to be honest I haven't been overly impressed by Goutas so far (although he hasn't looked bad), so hopefully this guy will prove to be quality.

Harsh on either Goutas or McGuiness if they are dropped but I am sure Pandora would not have signed as reserve cover

He could opt to play all three of them with Tanner and Grant as wing backs
One thing for sure is we have lots of options now
-
Re: CONFIRMED - Panzo signing on loan
As someone said earlier - competition is how it should be. But having him in gives us a few options..... Panzo at left back (he's played there before) or three at the back.

There is still talk of another, but I would say that was back up to Batth?
The fact we let Simpson go meant they were confident of two at least.

I thought everyone wanted a striker???
