I find it's best to do them all sadly. Bit time consuming but once you've done 2 it feels like auto pilot for the rest

Phone up. The person answering has the leeway to remove 10%. Any more they need their manager.

The fact that you've been with the same company is partly why your quote has increased so much. Each previous renewal you have accepted their rise, when you probably could have moved elsewhere and paid less. Because they think you'll do that again, they've upped it by more thinking you'll just renew again.

Doesn't that mean that the process just starts all over again ?
What a load of cobblers

If you've been loyal and stuck with the same company that long, you'll probably find a considerable saving by going elsewhere. Insurance companies like lots of industries don't do you any favours for sticking with them! Change every year if it's not the cheapest

Bit like sky if you stick with them all the good deals go to new customers but if you phone them saying you are leaving you get a different deal a lot of the time - they rely on you being loyal even though you get no reward for that ,🤔

You say that but you will more than likely only be paying 90% of what you were quoted

Which begs the question ......why not treat existing customers with fair deals ?
If not , they leave
It's a no brainer isn't it ?

Re: Car Insurance Hikes !
Shop around as much as you can and ask your insurer for their best possible price (armed with some lower quotes if you can).
Unfortunately insurance is all based on a gamble. They are trying to work out the chance of you having an accident, and how much that could cost them. That second bit has become far trickier to work out with inflation and they will always be extra cautious.
I think they legally have had to offer the same price to renewing customers as new customers for some time now, so it's not so much that anymore. Different companies have different risk profiles though so the price they offer can change dramatically based on the exact type of customer they want on their books. Best of luck !

Re: Car Insurance Hikes !
Mine had stayed the same for a few years then this year up 90 quid.
Few comparisons and the only cheaper ones (by only a tenner or so) were these ones where you fit some tracker to your car. So will stick where I am.
Some of the quotes you get though, did a couple separately and they came out about twice the price, one was even with a discount.

Yep mine was up about 90 quid
A quick comparison check by reducing the mileage brought it down 75 quid
It's a pain to have to do this but unless they come back with a better deal I am shovelling cow dung

Re: Car Insurance Hikes !

Re: Car Insurance Hikes !
Be amazed if NFU are cheap. I used to work for them and our car insurance prices were always well above average.
Go Compare offer free £250 excess cover if you buy through them, so you can whack your excess up by that amount for a cheaper premium and not be out of pocket if you have to claim.
You can also get some decent cashback through Topcashback, including for the price comparison websites.

Multi-car. multi-policies is another feckin myth. I just had a house insurance renewal from LV where we insure 2 cars. House quote had gone up from £408 to £628 and they weren't interested. Just got a better package from Aviva for under £400. they're all greedy Kents!

Exactly the same as me, I go on the price comparison sites every year and the last few found that the company I was with was right up there among the cheapest. This year though the rise in price made me sure that I’d find cheaper on the comparison sites, but I didn’t- some of the quotes I got were just taking the piss.

This is what I did a couple of months ago:
* Join Topcashback
* Click the link on the Topcashback website to Go Compare
* Get your quote on Go Compare, choosing a voluntary excess that's £250 more than you'd usually choose (which should make your quotes cheaper)
* You should get £40 cashback from Topcashback in a couple of months
* If you have to claim on your car insurance you'll have to pay the full excess amount but you can claim £250 of it back from Go Compare.
Saved me quite a bit.

I always use TopCashback and then all the comparison sites they list, including their own. I’m due around £100 for switching from BT to Sky for Broadband and around £30 this year on my car insurance.

Re: Car Insurance Hikes !
My 18 year old has been quoted £4000 and that's with one of those black box monitors. Disgraceful imo.

Re: Car Insurance Hikes !
If someone knows of an all in one site similar to utility warehouse that does the lot let me know
I may be paying a few quid a year extra but I can't be doing with all the poncing about

My granddaughter is 19 and I just had this text off her mum
She’s with Hastings but with a black box. Her insurance this year fully comp was 880. Her first insurance was with A1 insurance. That was cheap too

My boy was disqualified from driving. I won't go into it but he made a mistake. He's a good boy and knows he made a mistake. Still think 4k is a disgrace.

It takes a bit of extra effort to shop around but what your describing is the best way to pay extra for absolutely everything
Personally I can’t live with paying over the odds for anything so shop around for everything as it renews every year

I guess the trouble is, insurance companies are placing a bet when they insure someone. Whether they win depends on things beyond their control so they’ve got to base it on the form.
Given he’s had the equivalent of being shot at the grand national I wouldn’t bet on your son
