Atmosphere or rather lack of at the CCS?
First game yesterday since QPR in August.
Was amazed at how quiet it was in the ground sat in Block 111. The place was very flat and pretty soulless.
Hardly a 'fortress Ninian'!
Wtf has happened?

Re: Atmosphere or rather lack of at the CCS?
Picking the scab of moving the canton to the family stand again
-
Re: Atmosphere or rather lack of at the CCS?
Unless there is 22 or 23 k in there its generally pretty crap let's be honest

Re: Atmosphere or rather lack of at the CCS?
Better this season than in the last 2-3 in my opinion..but yeah, absolutely nothing what it used to be.
Chants are all pretty dull and formulaic too.
Biggest difference would be to get more vocal home fans in the Ninian lower to replicate the old Bob Bank.
And the age old debate about swapping the home end with the family stand, which I am not sure is totally viable, but would certainly help things.

It was. It's not been bad this season. Saturday was awful but there was nothing much to cheer, despite the 2 goals.

Re: Atmosphere or rather lack of at the CCS?
Might be down to a limp start and lacklustre second half. Bristol game was pretty good.

Re: Atmosphere or rather lack of at the CCS?
I think the art of inventing chants has died a death.

It has. We were much more inventive when we were shit. Gallows humour i suppose, we could laugh at ourselves and others. That's inclusiveness for you....

I thought the tune to rubber bullet would have been used by now

Re: Atmosphere or rather lack of at the CCS?
Yep, it's pretty bad unless it's Swansea or Bristol we're playing, or if we're winning. Not sure why, seems like people just can't be bothered? People are really up for it in the concourse before but as soon as we get to the stands we just all kind of give up.
Would the drum doing more help? Would a trumpet or something help?
Doesn't help we're over 100 metres from the away fans but I guess that's how it is, even people in ninian are told to sit etc though I'm sure they want to make a sound! Even with 21k there or whatever it was it just felt, dull

Forget it….like you say unless it’s a Derby game barely a pip. Even the Liberty is pretty quiet these days and they don’t have a Hitler controlling the stadium and can stand/sing right next to the away fans…..

Ah yes Adolf Hitler, famously against mass gatherings and antagonism of other groups

And the big crowd surge when we scored

Re: Atmosphere or rather lack of at the CCS?
Swap the Canton/Family ends. Plenty of modern stadiums like ours prove it can be done with no issues. Reading, Coventry, Derby for example.
Get rid of the drum, replace with a group of people that can start chants during lulls. Or get a better drummer that compliments the singing and doesn’t take charge and kill off chants.
Make the block of the Ninian near the away fans an official standing section. Install the rail seating that’s in the away end and back quarter of the Canton.
Change the pre match, half-time and post match music to something more CCFC related or “sing-along-able”. At the start of the second half the teams come out to Motörhead, great band but does nothing to get the fans going like MoH, Hey Jude, I’ll Be There, etc.
Make the stadium more inviting for fans to arrive and stay before and after the match. More seating, better/cheaper food and drink options, big screens to watch the early and late kick offs, entertainment under the Ninian.
More longer term thinking is getting more of the younger crowd in, they’re the ones that make the most noise. Even if it’s giving away tickets to students or having deals for 16-25 year olds. Get kids in whilst they’re young too. Free tickets to schools and football clubs all around Cardiff.
Every time this thread comes up lots of people come up with lots of good ideas but they never seem to be taken on board.

Absolutely.
I also think that nowadays, people actually go to watch the football. I know fans who used to go in the 80s and 90s who had no real interest in the games themselves, but the craic.
