Wintle arguing with fans in the ninian stand yesterday?
Just reading about it on bbc. Anyone see it? (Or take part?!)
"The Cardiff manager said: "He is the captain, we will have to talk to him. If he made something wrong he has to apologise for that because the fans are here for the players and push them to be positive. Over the last few weeks, they were supporting us really hard. We lost games and again they supported us really hard. So we cannot show this reaction."

They get paid well to do a nice job but I sit there sometimes cringing at some of the crap that regularly comes out of so many of our fans mouths.

Re: Wintle arguing with fans in the ninian stand yesterday?
Whoever thought it was a good idea to extend Wintles contract to 2026 needs a good f-ing shoeing.
The new Will Vaulks. At least Vaulks could launch it jnto the box.

Re: Wintle arguing with fans in the ninian stand yesterday?
It was the poorly hit free kick in the first half that raised a massive groan when it skidded a few feet off the ground, he motioned to calm down, which raised the hackles even more and he just motioned to calm down again.
Nothing really but IMO the crowd was on a knife edge all game and it could have gotten nasty at any moment.

Pet hate of mine when a professional footballer can’t clear the first man. If you’re trying a Peter Whittingham or Charlie Adam style bullet and you get it wrong fair enough, it happens. but when you’re just trying to put it into an area and tou fail so miserably then you shouldn’t Be on dear balls.

He's a neat and tidy player at this level
If Ramsey wasn't such a hospital case on 40 k a week Wintle could have been in the background doing the dirty work allowing the star signings to shine

In the 21st minute, Wintle hits a free-kick into the box that goes directly to the feet of a Blackburn player, it can happen to the best of players. Barely 8 minutes later there's a déjà vu moment from a free-kick when he repeats the same mistake... straight to the feet of a Blackburn player.
Perhaps it was at this point the crowd reacted in some way, however, Wintle telling them to calm down was patronising from him. I think the City faithful have been quite patient, surprisingly so. He should have just been annoyed at himself, put his hands up, and thought to himself... "I'm going to iron this out on the training field next week".
You certainly don't want "more" player/fan arguments, it's unsavoury and does nothing to improve morale within the club. History usually shows that when a player goes down the route of challenging fans it never ends well.
I hope Bulut tells him not to be so precious, to suck it up, and improve his setpiece delivery.

Quite worrying , I am actually agreeing with a lot of Sludges comments at the moment.
Wintle is a decent enough player at this level .

He used to be a cage fighter y’know…………….3 losses to two budgies & a canary prompted him to try his hand at football.

If Wintle was a phlebotomist he’d stick the needle in your eye.

On Tuesday night I was sat directly behind the Blackburn subs. Even they were p*ssing themselves laughing at Wintle's two pathetic attempts. Dreadful just really dreadful, time after time for this League 1 player. and his delivery What the feck does he practice in training? Can't Bulut see he is sh*te at delivering a dead ball? I groan out loud every time I see him step up to take a free kick or corner. Please, please, please, can we have someone else deliver free kicks and corners on Saturday? ....I bet we don't though....

So staying on theme...
What a lot of people don't know is that Etete used to be a boxer. Apparently, he was a real artist in the ring - always on the canvas!

Re: Wintle arguing with fans in the ninian stand yesterday?
It doesnt bother me a player arguing back and agree that some of the abuse they get is really unnecessary. But "calm down" suggests it's no big issue, when in fact a player that cares would be really pissed off with themselves in that moment.

Wintle is a very good League two player
An average league one defensive midfielder
A shit Championship player, who has been lucky enough to get another contract
Rather than asking fans to calm down like a patronising prick, he should be holding his hands up in apology for his underperformance that he has consistently put in.
The fact that he wears the Captain’s armband shows what a joke that is
He isn’t fit to wear the shirt
Wankers like Wintle are two a penny
No heart, no commitment and no desire
We have plenty of them at our club unfortunately
When was the last time you saw Wintle boss a game?
Put in a decent performance?
Played with a bit of passion?
Made a great tackle?
Wintle is a wanker and should hang his head in shame for his poor performance
If Bulut had any bollocks he’d bin him off now
Arguing with the crowd when as a Captain you’re supposed to be setting an example
Shameful !!!!!

The thing is, it's not like it was just on Tuesday. His corners have been shocking for ages. So he needs a bit of self-awareness (or his manager needs to make it clear). I think your description of him in your opening paragraph is spot on.

One day, Wintle will beat the first man with a cross…..one day

Re: Wintle arguing with fans in the ninian stand yesterday?
In the interest of balance, he did deliver two very good corners. Each time it was Goutas that got on the end of them, but he was unable to direct his headers on target.
Wintle masquerades as a defensive midfielder, but he seldom makes a tackle or breaks up play.
-
Re: Wintle arguing with fans in the ninian stand yesterday?
This season he's played 2218 minutes in that time he made 28 tackles that's one every 79 minutes. He's had 15 shots 8 on target scoring 2. That's a shot every 147 minutes. Defensively could do better, going forward likewise.

I think that’s my issue, he is a neat and tidy player but not just not good enough in either box.
-
Re: Wintle arguing with fans in the ninian stand yesterday?
Wintle offers absolutely nothing and might have been ok in this league 10 years ago but the game has moved on since then and if you’re not an athlete then you need to be very good on the ball - he is neither so ends up chasing shadows or playing the safe pass every time and opposition midfielders have a field day.
It says it all about our squad that he is a regular starter, not just him either

He can quite easily “clear the first man”, what he’s trying to do is to just clear the first man, otherwise it’s meat and drink for defenders at this level….that’s what makes it a little more difficult.
Same as short corners, Championship goal keepers, and defenders, should comfortably be able to set up and defend a corner, the short corner makes it a lot more difficult.

Re: Wintle arguing with fans in the ninian stand yesterday?
I dont mind players arguing with fans - shows they actually do care. Its when they walk off and dont look up or worse just smirk.
Most players I think want to do a good job. The problem we have is strikers who cant score and seemingly goal keeps that cant stop a shot - pretty fundamental skill set requirement if you are a pro player. The players inbetween Im happy with

It depends which way you want to look at it.
It could be argued that a player who argues with the fans doesn't have broad shoulders and can't accept criticism.
I agree with an earlier poster who said that by saying "calm down" he was almost making light of the situation, suggesting the fans were being irrational.
