Hopefully kicks on.
Don’t take much notice of these awards. Ours have been won recently by Joe Mason, Zohore, Callum Paterson and Drameh.
It’s a marker in time and I’m glad for him
Bulut isn’t going to play him over Sio/Wintle/Ralls and I bet we bring in another CM.
This is both right and wrong. And the reason I 'd be happy to see Bulut leave.
King and Joe Colwill have the potential to be better than the three you list, but Bulut (common with a lot of modern managers) is more interested in polishing his own CV's that the long term future of the club. Who can blame him given their lack of job security. There are not many idealists like Steve Cooper around.
The chances of Tan releasing sufficient transfer funds for us to get promoted next season is extremely limited. Watching Bulut's football dirge for 46 games with a team of has beans whilst we fight for positions 10-15 is not very appealing.
We won't have as many lucky wins next season and probably Bulut will be sacked by Christmas, but not before he has signed a few more Siopis's on 3 year deals. These players will then become a burden to a subsequent manager(s) and to the clubs ability to move forward.
I'd still prefer a young manager who plays attractive football and gives the kids a chance (where warranted) whilst we fight for positions 10-15.
King, Colwill x 2 , Ashford, Tanner and Isaak Davies should all be involved next season.
By watching all 5 players many times. What do you base your snap judgements on our best promising youngsters?
Although, I accept there is a big drop off from potential to seasoned championship footballer. There have been so many who have failed to bridge that gap. Tommy O'Sullivan (what a talent) didn't even make it at Hereford.
Ah Delme , where have you been?
We have a new game now.
If a loan player gets MOM in conference league south , we do a bit of hand wringing and scream for them to come back ,say he is a midfielder
Then if another loan player gets MOM in the bottom of the Syrian league he also plays midfield , hey Presto we have the midfield for coming season . And why did we ever let them go ???
Like Ryan Wintle ...Oh Yeah there have been discerning voices on that one...not mine I may add.. .
Its quite an easy game , why dont you join in?
Oh and managers ....
No one would ever want to mange Cardiff because we have the only difficult owner in the league.
All the other megalomaniac billionaire owners are charming ,caring ,witty, non meddling, people.
I did make a second post claiming that we should sign 2 new and better midfield players.
I'd just prefer it if the squad depth was provided by quality, promising younger players not has beans.
Watch King and Colwill jnr, they are two very good athletes who play with the drive and pace that we have been missing in our midfield for a number of seasons. They'll be Pro footballers for sure, let's hope they develop enough for it to be at Championship level or above.
But then I thought Lee Jarman was nailed on to be a Pemiership player, so what do I know.
Turnbull has had mixed reviews at best since coming to the city from the best team in Scotland. So how the hell would Eli King who's improving but hardly tearing up trees in the same league possibly be an improvement on Turnbull?
It's a fair point about Turnbull. The counter argument is that Turnbull hardly had a kick for Celtic in his last 2 years with them (he fell out of favour mid way through the 2021-22 season). You make it sound like he was a top rated player.
After watching Turnbull since Christmas I'm pretty confident any number of midfielders would be an improvement, young or old.
The assertion that King was 'hardly tearing up trees' is not really accurate. He had excellent reviews and won his clubs young player of the year award despite being with them only 6 months. But fair enough if you don't rate him, however I think he has something. He is a really good dap; a Declan Rice build and physique, has the best engine at the club, and is a pretty good set piece taker. The one criticism I have of him, is that he plays within himself. With his size and stamina he should look to impose himself more on the game and dominate. I think Morison said something similar after those couple of starts in Feb '22 against Liverpool and Coventry - that was that he had to take more chances, to be more positive with his passing rather than just take the safe option. Morison was a conundrum, he talked a lot of sense, but said it in a really, annoying and irritating way.
I dunno , hardly fell out of favour in 2021
I remember him playing for Celtic week in week out , which he was till he joined us .
These are the games he played in. I would surmise his contract was coming to an end and Celtic wanted to get a couple of quid for him?

Turnbull started only 16 league games between the 19th December 2021 and the time he joined us in Jan 24.

I accept that he was in the match day squad a lot and made many sub appearances. But in the 18 months prior and including Dec '21 he had been 1st choice.
I was very excited when we signed him as I, like you, had believed he was still a major player for Celtic. However after after looking at the stats, speaking to my golfing buddy who is a Celtic fan (yes, I know how clichéd that sounds) and watching him, that excitement soon subsided. He may still come good, though.
I wonder if he had a bad injury in Dec '21? His fall from grace appears very sudden and he doesn't even make sub appearances in the very early part of 2022.
Finally sorry for deleting the stat section of your post but it would have made the thread unreadable
We have a few promising players whove come through our system the Colwills , Ashford , Davies , King , Conte.
Noone really knows if they can kick on and be 1st team regulars. My worry with Bulut is they wont even get a decent opportunity.
You've clearly followed King in way more detail than I have so I'll give your opinion higher value than my own for this debate and hope you are proven correct despite suspecting the opposite!
The defender who had a season at Livingston arrived back here with huge expectations and was soon shown to be awful (ciaron brown I think). Hopefully Eli will have made some decent strides in his game to match your enthusiasm for his progress!! I'll happily accept being wrong from my first impressions
Raith Rovers are playing Ross County tonight in the Scottish playoff final first leg, it will be a chance to see how he has developed
Its on BBC Scotland if anyones interested
1-0 Ross. King's shot handled in the box for a penalty.
I thought he looked good. Again, he needs to impose himself on the game more. He certainly didn't look like an inexperienced kid and physically he's very good.
