He was far from brilliant. He hit a purple patch in front of goal and most of those he scored were important, but he rarely looked up to much and his control was often shocking.
He couldn't play. His upper body (Touch) was good though, play it into his feet and god help us. The club should be commended for not being fooled (or maybe Kaba received a better offer) Under Warnock we'd have shifted 4 million on him with a three year deal.
Let's just leave him in our Purple Patch Hall Of Fame - alongside Ken Zohore!
Good question and a real poser. Kaba scored a decent strike rate for us. A good finisher, a physical threat, and good in the air - so better than the junk we have now such as Meite who is frankly terrible, and about as much use as a cup of cold piss.
The fact that we have lost the Karlan means some loan wages taken off there. Offload the awful Meite and take Kaba on loan and I think that should be financially viable, and he will bag a few
Some players suit certain clubs and styles, and perhaps in a Spanish league not so much, where aerial prowess isn’t serviced as much. Although he was here under Sabri, the fact we are a set piece team means I think he will bag goals. Get one or two fast wingers to complement quality deliveries from Tanner and O Dowda and I think he would bag even a few more.
So a yes from me if we cannot do better. But assuming money is there I would prefer Kieffer Moore and Karlan Grant here as two choices of 9s. Grant and Moore, with Isaac Davies as back up would be my preferred choices.
is he better than what we currently have ? ? YES
I thought he did well for us, certainly knew where the goal was and wasnt afraid to get stuck in
“tour de force”? A tad over the top maybe.
It’s a poorly-researched piece as usual from Walesonline. They claim Kaba scored 3 goals in 28 appearances for Las Palmas. In fact, it was 2 goals in 20 appearances, and one of those goals came in a cup game against a fourth-tier side.
He was crap.
I’d even rather Callum Paterson back before him
Yes he put the ball in the back of the net, so would many others with the chances he had
His GPG ratio was good. For us. Not so great everywhere else. Especially Las Palmas. I would hope we could and should do better.
Sorry,Kaba is not for us.
Not for me.
May not have been the best footballer since sliced whatever but he came in and did a job and for that he did it in the main so thanks for that - beggars and all that can't be choosers
He was a great loan and did just what we needed him to do - scoring goals and bringing a big personality to the squad. For that we should all appreciate his time in a Cardiff shirt.
But that doesn't mean we should ignore his weaknesses or his record for other teams. I thank him and wish him well, but would not be too happy to see him back as our No 9 for a full season. I can't see him being as successful a second time.
If we had him all last season we definitely would have finished higher up the league so unless keifer is coming then it’s a yes from me.
I thought he was offloaded on loan to us from Mitdjyland because of his attitude problem. Now not wanted by Las Palmas
Sheffield Wednesday after him apparently, if they can't get another of our loan strikers, Ike Ugbo, back again.
he would improve us
If you'd bothered to read the whole thread you'd have seen I was actually defending him against those that said he was crap.
I also acknowledged that he had a knack of being in the right place at the right time.
He tried that overhead-kick again in a later game, it didn't come off, as is often the case with this type of effort.
That is a strike ratio of under 0.2 goals per game or 1 in 5. Let’s be blunt - that is absolutely guff. But it looks heroic next to Meite’s goals per game ratio which is 0.05 (1 in 20). Even for a winger that is just shite. I would expect central midfielders or defenders to get that sort of ratio, not a striker / winger.
Wingers and wide forwards should be looking for 1 in 4 or 1 in 3 if they are exceptional, in a 4-3-3. A good striker ought to be looking at 1 in 2, and a minimum of 1 in 3 (1 in 3 as long as other wingers or an attacking midfielder / 10 are contributing similarly). Meite’s statistics alone are a reason we need to cut him loose on a free.
Strikers are paid to score goals - pure and simple. Chris Pike’s skills were terrible but he was “right place, right time” and consitently knew where the net was. Regardless of how it is done, goals win games. Arguing that he is poor because he can’t do other stuff is like sacking your carpenter for not being good at
plumbing.
