Interesting start, England pressing very high up the pitch.
Have according to Talk Sport "the most inform player in the world" Cole Palmer in my bet to score and he blazes over from 7 yards.
We were linked with that Bakasetas at one point too weren't we?
Englund are s hite
Siopis is his usual bustling self
He's a far better player than some on here think
If Ramsey had stayed fit and he and other midfield players had put a few in the net then siopis would have been left to get on with things
Did England start the game without any strikers on the pitch?
Great win
England are so arrogant
Have it
Time to cash in on Siopis?
Taxi for Carsley. Utter horse piss. Oh dear. Never mind.
England wearing shirts with 3 Lions on 1 side of the chest and the Greek Goddess of victory on the other, is just lovely.
Joking aside Eric, i wonder if a manager exists that can make this England squad play fast flowing, attacking football, whilst also being more solid and savvy at the back ?
Being a Welshman, i couldn’t give a rats arse, and quite enjoyed watching that result tonight, but on a footballing front, it really is a mystery how a squad with so many so called brilliant players, can continually put in below par, boring, lack lustre performances.
They have had dream draws in the latter stages of recent big tournaments, but have failed to get over the line. Long may it continue 😂
I'm sure I read in the last few days that Spain deserved to beat England in the Euros final because they had the better team, though not the better players ! Really !!? So Rodri, Yamal, Williams, Olmo, Fabian Ruiz, Carvajal and Laporte are not doing enough to play for the great England.
Arrogance doesn't really cover it.
They should have been on the end of 4-1 defeat tonight.
when will England learn that shoehorning all their best players into a formation that makes no sense doesn't work
When was the last time an England side played as slickly as Greece did at times tonight ? To get to the Euros final playing like they did can only mean that Southgate made a pact with the devil. A bit like Robert Johnson at the Crossroads. Nothing else makes any sense seeing the way these over-hyped players perform as abjectly as they do nearly every game.
I don't necessarily buy into that. The level of depth and talent they have - especially young talent - is incredible. I can't think of a team that regularly underachieves as heavily as England do.
As for Siopis, last night proved what I've long thought of him. A good player when the pace of the game is slower and less chaotic. But a duck out of water in the frenzied, physical intensity of a typical Championship game.
An incredibly motivated Greece team, a group of England players who probably don’t give a toss about the Nations League plus an interim manager who lost his mind and didn’t change an obviously failing tactic for 70 minutes, don’t think there’s too much to read into it.
Siopis is a decent player in a team where he’s got more forward looking midfielders around him and he can focus on winning the ball back and offloading it quickly to more skilled players. I’d love to see him alongside Robertson and Colwill rather than Ralls and Wintle for a few games.
I think 🤔 you might have bought into it too ?
If you are exposed to it ....the Premier league and all the pundits and analysis ....then you will be swayed into thinking that , in your words , the depth of talent is incredible
But Spain, Germany , Italy etc all produce amazing players
I think it's great to see England get done by the likes of Greece personally
Englands main problem was they tried to shoehorn Palmer, Foden and Bellingham into a lineup that made zero sense.
Man for man 0 Greece players get into the England squad, anywhere near it really.
England have always been too scared to drop top players if they don't fit into the team and it continually holds them back
What England need is a manager who has a really well defined football philosophy -knows how they want to play and will just pick the best players to fit into that way of playing, even if that means dropping Foden and Palmer or whoever else is the media darling of the day.
What I'm saying is England need Neil Warnock.
The influx of foreign players into the Premier league has vastly reduced the number of decent home grown players playing at the top level.
There's far too much money attracting these players to these shores, much of it from Sky.
I'd love to see a discussion on Sky where someone questions whether they're part of the problem, but it won't happen.
Yes, he would be my second choice. :hehe:
Or someone like Klopp, or Bielsa - someone who will play their way.
Of course the international managers get far less time with their teams than club managers do, so an intricate system like pep's, or aggressive press like Klopp might be harder to implement as well. That's why it should be a more simple tactical approach, if the FA get Sharon on board first I'm sure they can convince him. :hehe:
This nonsense of how many Greek, Slovenian or Danish players etc would get into the great England team is a concept I first heard put forward by Alan Shearer about 5 World Cups ago. Only he was referring to French and Italian players, the likes of Pirlo and Zidane ! It was ridiculous then and is ridiculous now. It's a team game, the best exponents of which adopt seamless patterns, without relying on individual brilliance. Yes, truly great players like Maradona or Messi have the ability to win games on their own but they are few and far between.
England have been turned over by too many 'lesser' teams over the last few years (Greece, Iceland, Hungary) to prove differently. And every team they came up against at the Euros will feel they could and probably should have beaten them. England are simply NOT a team.
