How poor is the quality of football in this one? A really dreadful advert for the Championship.
0-0 so far. Plymouth had a goal dubiously disallowed for offside, but they haven’t deserved the lead. Neither side have. They’re both terrible.

0-0 at half time. Awful stuff. League Two standard at best.
how the hell did we lose at Luton? total dump of a ground. this game tonight is awful and we need to get 3 points on Sat.
Two teams who play a kick ‘n’ rush game.
Ineffective against each other, but the sort of opponent who will steamroller Cardiff at the moment.
1-1 now. It’s a thriller. 🤣
Luton don’t even attempt to play any actual football. They’re appalling.
Watched the last 10/15 minutes on TLG’s esteemed recommendation, we're not that bad……are we? The move for our equaliser against Bristol was Brazil’70esque compared to what I just watched. Ok, we’re down their with these two but the small part of the game I saw was pretty dire.
I enjoyed that. Despite the standard.
Both very committed sides. Most of the Plymouth players will be knackered after that, and one or two carrying knocks.
Plymouth much more physical than the side we beat 5-0.
Like the look of the Ukrainian centre back Maxi who scored when MCGuinness was off the field injured.
If we lose against Plymouth Saturday we deserve relegation because the standard of football in that game tonight was dire!!
We were soft at Portsmouth and at Oxford for the majority of both matches, stuffed at Hull (who’ve won just twice at home all season) and didn’t turn up at Luton. We’ve given the opposition a two goal lead inside twenty minutes in our last three away league games and were a goal down in eleven minutes in the one before that - there are plenty of precedents this season as to why we’ll lose on Saturday and barely any as to why we’ll win.
Good result, lot's of knackered players, some carrying knocks, and only a point each. Luton can't catch us next game if they win and we lose and Plymouth will need to beat us by eight goals to go above us.
Agreed they are both shit we are miles better than them and shouldn't lose to Plymouth, but we shouldn't have lost to Portsmouth and lots of other shit teams.
I feel like the trash kick and rush, aggressive teams are exactly what we don't like facing.
Or the quality teams who can carve you open.
Or anyone that attacks at any pace.
I wonder if, one day, you'll accept that our 12th place finish was something of a falseity? It was based entirely on having a good start to the season. After the first couple of months our record was woeful.
Our record over our last 32 games of last season and our record of 32 games this season make for similarly depressing reading. We were ranked 17th over our final 32 games of last season with 39 points, not a great deal better than the 32 points we have this season. We won 12, drawn 3 and lost 17 compared with winning 7, drawing 11 and losing 14 this season, while scoring more this season and having exactly the same defensive record. This season we were also hampered with a woeful start.
Keep telling yourself we were a top half side last season - we didn't play like one or get the results like one for 6 months of it. This season has been a continuation, not a sudden drop.
Totally agree with you. When you compare this group of players with our teams over the last 2-3 seasons it beggars belief that we are where we are. I don't doubt that if we had started this season with the current crop (and no Bulut), there is no way we would be looking so nervously over our shoulder.
However, when you are in a dogfight, it's never easy to just pull away because players are never relaxed, knowing that a single mistake could have dire consequences.
Players who have been available the majority of the season (10+ league appearances) not members of last years squad: Robertson, Willock, Chambers, El Ghazi, Kanga, Daland, Bagan, Rinomhota (debatable, can't remember when he came back or went to Rotherham)
Players with 10+ appearances last year not part of the squad this year: Wintle, Bowler, Grant, McGuinness, Phillips, Ugbo, Diedhiou, Romeo, Wilson-Esbrand, Adams
Is that a change that beggars belief we are where we are? I'm not so sure... definitely a couple of upgraded positions but I think Grant and McGuinness/Phillips better than anything we replaced them with. Now if you want to argue that the squad we have today with the additions in January is looking better maybe there's a case for that, but that's a different argument.
Very much agree to disagree. McGuinness/Phillips are automatic starters. Grant is an automatic starter. We've signed Robertson and potentially Salech that improve us. I dont think there's a lot of difference between the two sides but we massively miss Grant's pace and McGuinness at the back.
We've not improved the squad, and we've got a lot worse at the back.
