Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Match thread
Does anyone know why Callum Robinson wasn't in the Ireland squad for the recent internationals? Is he injured again or was he dropped?

Pretty sure he was not selected. CO’D was but then pulled out.

Isn’t he managing a chronic injury - one that keeps flaring up?
I expect the Irish management are just determined to ensure he is fit for the Cardiff run in. The Irish are great like that!

No idea, although that probably applies to at least 50% of the squad. :hehe:

I can only go so far back before they stop fitting

All my shirts still fit - I've always been fat.

Tidy, lets take advantage of the uncertainty at the back
Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt yet another defensive availability blow, as manager Danny Röhl has revealed Max Lowe will not feature again for the Owls this season.
Lowe, 27, joined Wednesday in a controversial move from Sheffield United in the summer and has made 34 Championship appearances this season across the backline.
Owls supporters have been eagerly awaiting an injury update on the left sided defender, after he was substituted on the 39th minute of the Steel City Derby preceding the international break.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Match thread
Really looking forward to today
I hope Riza has got the profile right?
Not sure if we’re going to play the box system today, will he go for the double Pivot? or a low block?
If they have all been through the protocols and are on the grass, apart from those who are in the building will we play a high press with intensity or just use our physicality?
So many questions and with all the coaching jargon it’s no wonder most of our lot look confused
Here’s an idea, how about we just get it out to the wingers as quickly as possible and now that we have a real centre forward instead of a false 9???
Get into the box as quickly as possible.
It really is a simple game

Ian, keep on talking like that and you’ll meet yourself coming back :hehe:
PS, you’re right though, football is a simple game

That’s like someone living in Clive St moaning that he has to get a taxi to the ground :hehe:

Possibly not for everyone plus I'm highlighting it so people know before they set off to allow longer to get to the ground

Football bus goes from Wood St near the station, no need at all to walk. Bus drops you right by Fred’s statue.

With my blue tinted specs on, that could be the best result.
Beat Wednesday and we are above Hull!
Yeh, OK........

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Match thread
Very attacking lineup, Ashford as the 10? With a 4 man defense with Bagan at CB. Glad to see we are going for it but can't help feeling he's trying to give us whiplash with all the chopping and changing of formations, styles and players.
Luton 1 up at Hull btw, would be a pretty bad result. Need a draw there.

Maybe Alves at 10?

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Match thread
Looks like 4 2 4 to me as well.
Definitely shit or bust time.
Hope our defence can hold out against Patto. Not sure they can. Need at least 2 to win again.

We need a win. Running out of games. Draw is of little use.
I think he's just throwing line ups out now in hope. He's out of his depth totally.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Match thread
It looks like Riza doesn't trust Goutas or Daland much.
Maybe easing them back in, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a Fish-Bagan partnership to the end of the season. A bit like Heath-Robinson?
Youth and pace up front behind Salach. Could be inspired....?

& I was thinking Davies as the 10. He’s obviously got us thinking. Ashford, Davies & Alves to interchange

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Match thread
Perhaps he's just picked 11 players and said get on with it.
It looks a line up to me which you'd set up with if a goal down with 10 minutes to go.
Anything could happen.
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Match thread
I see they've picked Lowe who always seems to do well against us
-
Re: CARDIFF CITY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY. Match thread
For me Alves is the most out and out wide player of the 3, Ashford/Davies a bit more inside forward who can play up front if needed, but entirely possible I'm way off. I hope if he does have this grand plan of them interchanging he's done it in training and it doesn't look like total shit.
Probably thinking a draw is no good for Blackburn either and they will come at us from the off. Plenty of pace to catch them on the break if they do, but probably not a lot of service for Salech most of the afternoon.

That would probably be the more realistic scenario tbf

Their entire team is like a murderers row of players who do well against City. Bannan, Windass, Patto, Lowe... pick one. Fancy Ugbo to come off the bench and get a scrappy goal against us late as well knowing our luck.
