Very disappointed with Robertson today
Anyone else thinking the same?
The one player who we were relying on today to conjure up some opportunites and create some penetration and he left us wanting and some.
Knocked off the ball far too easily, robbed on far too many occasions and ended up.making some abysmal errors in the 2nd half which almost led to very good Stoke chances. It was obvious to all & sundry that he just wasn't up to it today. He was knackered with 30-40 mins to go & should have been subbed but Riza dropped another bollock & left him on.
I was just very disappointed with him today.
What was also very disappointing was such an attacking starting line up hardly causing the Stoke keeper to have to do much, especially 1st half. Dear oh dear.

Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
Very poor. He nearly gifted Stoke a goal
-
Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
Yes, I thought he was poor today. I assumed it would be him going off when Robinson went off.
-
Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
He's as weak as a kitten.
-
Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
Everything he did was either sideways or backwards and he didn't even do that very well

Is there any point in picking on individual players though. Collectively so poor and some really poor senior pros who we are probably stuck with. Colwill didn't start. Robertson next in line. It's deeper than that.

Alves did a lot of that as well

TBH, you could probably raise 11 different threads on the starting line up today

I agree, I thought there were one or two who did fairly well today, but there wasn’t a single seven out of ten performance from a City player - they bottled it collectively against Luton and they did the same today in the next home game we played against a team down there in the relegation zone with us.

Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
As has been said you can virtually say the same for every individual. I thought Alves seemed to care the most and he’s on loan. That said, no one helps each other, no one makes a run, no one helps their colleague and barely anyone wins a 50/50. What the hell does the manager and staff do all week?
-
Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
Just Robertson? How can you single out a player from that performance?
-
Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
The balance of the team was so wrong not for the first time.

Granted there wasn't much you say about the whole team today but the way we set up starting, the only player you'd say who could create for us, was Robertson and he basically put in a dreadful performance and keeping him on was a piss poor decision from Riza.

Agreed he was rubbish today. Slow, off the pace. A disgrace if a performance.

Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
The Pompey fans raved about him last season. Makes you wonder what we’ve done to him!
Good point made by DaveBlue above that we don’t seem to be team that plays for each other. Having a lack of strong characters in the team doesn’t help either
-
Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
We signed experienced players like Chambers , El Ghazi and Willock. They have all been utterly hopeless.
Bad choices for buys at CB. Blowing money on a striker who will probably never play for us just like the Japanese CB.
But worse the yet again crazy and cheap internal managerial appointment. Bye bye Championship. Could be a long time away.

That was in League 1.

The players don't fit with each other. We've signed players that don't play well together. Take Willock, he is the exact opposite of what we needed. We've already got lots of players that want to get lots of touches, we don't need wingers who do it, especially when he was supposed to replace Grant. Horvath was supposed to be able to play out from the back, he can't. Bulut wanted midfielders that worked hard, ran around etc, we signed Turnbull. Simic cost £2m, he's not supposed to play this season?! Daland, Fish and Chambers have been disasters at the back, they're just not good enough. Chambers is poor in midfield, he can't play, he doesn't look up, can't turn. AEG is a complete joke of a signing, Robertson would be alright in a better side, Salech has obviously been a huge success.
We've signed some truly honking players, especially in defence but we've got too many similar footballers. Our recruitment has been a complete and utter shambles. We need players that complement each other, and we don't.

Apparently we've got a squad that should be top half of the table.

Jason Perry on Radio Wales highlighted that he was tired and making mistakes around the 60-65 min mark and was surpised he was not taken off when Tanner and Meite came on. He has not played 90 mins for a long time so it was surprising that he was left on.

Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
He was very poor, no more than say Robinson or Salech, he had a hard job to do today, we had no balance, don’t really understand why Mannsverk didn’t start or at least come on as we never had any control in midfield. Just a naive set up. Chambers, Mannverk, Robertson as a 3 initially would have made sense with Colwill to come on.
Tunbull is a waste of space.

Very well put and probably exactly what many of us have been thinking. I'm sure we've all wanted these players to do well for us but let's be honest they just haven't done the job.
It hasn't helped that we've had so many injuries throughout the season - far too many have been long term and questions have to be asked of our training regimes & fitness plans because something just doesn't seem right. Example - did Ng go down with cramp again today? If so that's around 3 recent matches he's had it - that can't be right.
Another thing is (perhaps partly due to injuries) the constant chaging of the starting line up. No consistency in that, has got to have a massive effect on the team. We haven't had a backbone to the team to rely on. It's not all down to bad luck but the management has to accept they've got it so badly wrong. It's so disappointing.

Turnbull looked better in some games earlier in the season playing in a deeper midfield role so what did Riza do yesterday, bring him on as a 10.

Just throwing players into starting lineups and on the pitch, in different formations and positions hoping that one of them might show something that will mask the fact he's got no idea what he's doing at this level. And this lot don't have the talent or fight to do that except on rare occasions unfortunately.

It's like chucking jigsaw pieces into the air and hoping they form the Mona Lisa when they land.

Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
Jason Perry said that Robertson looked tired and should have been pulled off.

I don't think anyone wanted to see that plus there were children in the ground but he should have been taken off for the Turnbull or Colwill subs as he looked slow, tired and kept pirouetting into trouble.
-
Re: Very disappointed with Robertson today
It's strange how sometimes good players look average or bad when things aren't going right. Man City and ManU players don't suddenly turn rubbish overnight, with a loss of confidence a few more mistakes and everything can go wrong, for the players Manager and whole team.

I think Riza looked on here for our team against Plymouth and thought, I'll try Turnbull, Colwill and Tanner again, that worked well against terrible Plymouth.
