The Transfer Rumour Thread
Now the season is done and dusted let's see what's in store for the in's and out's of our club ahead of next season . I'll kick off with this rumour
Callum Robinson is on Wrexham's radar
if true 5 million in todays market ?
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
I saw Yamal's agent in the old Arcade yesterday.
Fingers crossed 🤞

A million and I'd bite their arms off.

Yeah, we're not getting anywhere like £5m for Robinson.
I've only seen the highlights of yesterday's game. I couldn't bring myself to sit through 90 minutes, knowing it would be the 'same-old-same-old'.
One thing is apparent, if we have any ambition of getting out of League One, and that is Horvath should never put on a City shirt ever again... truly shocking player!
Time to say goodbye to Ralls, get a captain who's going to be an ever-present and a leader as well.
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Am I the only one who thinks although there'll be a few outs in the close season there won't be many coming in. I'm also not getting the love in at the moment with Ashford but I suppose he needs time.
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Let's be honest, we could sell the whole squad and not get near 5 million for the lot. We didn't relegated rock bottom because of poor managers alone. We got relegated because the players we have are Division 1 and below standard. We have absolutely no quality anywhere on the pitch, none at all.

Pug if that figure being banded about is true I would think it was a complete package type of money with add on's etc
Lets take the Mcguiness situation last year . We sold him to Luton many people say the fee was around 10 million that is the total package with add on's etc so 5 million for Robinson sounds plausible
The club will be losing close on 10 million quid in revenue next season so we will need to sell a few players to plug the gap
Think we will get a few offers for Robertson , Horvath , Lawlow and Colwill this summer too

5 million Robinson, is a fairy tale, as I said the squad is not worth 5 million! Robinson is a million quid at best and that's with add ons. There's a reason we are a lower league club! We have lower league players!!

He scored 12 goals this season in a god awful team with limited service. He's worth more than a million.
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
2 million for Robinson is fair. A million is too little for a striker that got 12 goals this season. I know we're not in a position to be driving a hard bargain, but anything lower than 2 million is getting mugged. If we can get higher, like 3 mil, I think that's great for a player that's hit his peak.

Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
According to WOL Cardiff have been linked with a transfer swoop for QPR midfielder Lorent Talla
The Kosovo international has made just one appearance for QPR's first team and has registered three assists in six outings for the under-21s team, with injury having hampered his progress in west London to date.

Sounds right up our street. Long term injured are welcome here.

Who the feck is offering anything for Ethan Horvath? Hasn't been a regular goalie for years and statistically and by the eye test one of the worst goalies in the entire Championship last year. Robertson and Colwill also shown nothing to show they are Championship regulars for a top half side.

If we can get any of Horvarth , Chambers , Willock out on free transfers we are doing great business.
Getting money for any would be right up there with us getting a fee for Steve McClean .
I cant see us getting any of them off the wage bill.
Thank feck El Ghazi wasn't given a contract.

Ah, so he is injury prone, that probably has legs then.
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
We only bought him 3 seasons ago for £1.75mill can't see a world where, other than a free transfer he leaves us. Same with Willock, Chambers, Howarth & Alnwick
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
The red card at Norwich was kind of the straw that broke it for me regarding Chambers. I love him as a CDM, but the weekly payment is just too high for League One, and he's genuinely awful in the CB role. Begrudgingly, I would sell to solve the wages situation.
I'm not ready to write off Talla straight away. We must not forget that we're a League One team now, we're going to have less viable options to pick from. I'd give him a chance.

well that's a matter of opinion regarding Horvath but still got 2 years to run on his contract and has played champions league and Europa League football in his career . Probably on a decent wage too
Been talk of a current championship side interested .
My personnel opinion is we should look elsewhere for league 1 anyway for a new goalkeeper
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
I still rate Alnwick honestly, criminally underrated and rarely has a bad game. But yes, we do need a Horvath replacement, just for the wages alone.

Hang on... you want to get rid of a player who you love when he's playing in our midfield?
Chambers' performances were so bad at the heart of our defence that, when he was switched to midfield, it was almost like a case of 'things couldn't get any worse'.
He reaches the heights of mediocrity at best in midfield. What are his strengths as a player, I genuinely don't know?

Got to agree with this, in an ideal world we’d be able to off load a few of our current squad and save the wages
Usually you’d ask who will buy them, with our performance this last season, you’d be asking who wants them??
We didn’t have enough battlers, enough players with a bit of fight in them and in truth enough players who actually gave a shinny shite!!
Our recruiting off late has been shocking with one or two notable exceptions
Will these guys care? Will they bollocks
No stomach for a fight, no interest in trying to improve themselves and no professional pride
There might be a few of them on the phone to their agents to get a move away, good luck with that
Collectively they are a shambolic group
Imho

The squad is worth much much more than £5m. Salech is worth that on his own. Robinson is a proven goalscorer in the Championship. I would say £2.5 - £3m for him.
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Any player with a proven goal-scoring record is worth money. Robinson and Salech would both fetch good money, though £5m for Robbo might be stretching it a bit. If it was me, I'd look at bids for Robinson, but try to keep Salech.

Chambers has had fantastic presence and build-up play in the CDM role, it's a role that plays more to his strengths as a player. He was consistently getting among our top 3 rated players on the pitch every game in the role.
The problem is wages. I've seen anywhere from £33k to £45k speculated, and in League One, that's insane money. Given we obviously need to cut costs next season, that's going to have to be one of the decisions we make.

Yep he was pretty solid for us this season and would be more than happy keeping him our no1.
Much more important problems to solve

Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
Here’s the reason we need to keep Salech & Robinson plus find at least another 2 strikers who can score in L1
City are at least 30 goals per season light of being a contender.
Birmingham had 22 different goalscorers, 8 of them had 5 or more goals.
Last 5 seasons.
Birmingham 84. Wrexham 67 ….. Cardiff 48
Portsmouth 78, Derby 78 ….. Cardiff 53
Plymouth 82, Ipswich 101 ….. Cardiff 41
Wigan 82, Rotherham 70 ….. Cardiff 50
Hull 80, Peterborough 83 ….. Cardiff 66

there's a fundamental flaw with this logic

We need to move Robinson on. Davies hasn't had much of a chance yet to show his potential, and we have Reindorf as an option also. Robinson just eats too much into the wage bill and we could fetch a decent price for him still.

Don't forget Simic, he looked a tidy finisher when playing for U21's , I'm surprised he didn't get a chance towards the end of the season.

Wrexham will be able to get Prem players that aren't in fav or looking for more playing time. Why! Exposure. You can't get better exposure outside!! the prem than Wrexham atm.
Croeso i Caerdydd season 1 anyone?

Do you know Robinsons contract terms?
The problem is buying a replacement would probably be more expensive, where are they coming from?
Stansfield was £15m, Smith ain’t moving from Wrexham, Wycombe turned down £6m for Kone, Kelman is a loan & worth more than Robinson, Goddard is 33, Keillor Dunn is a midfielder, Alfie May worth more than Robinson, Louie Barry going to the Championship. The list goes on.
Let’s just say that Salech gets 20 goals next season, are Simic, Etete, Ashford, Davies et al, capable of getting 55 between them?

Reindorf is nowhere near an option, as it stands, and i think that we should do what we can to keep our top goalscorer.

Between Salech, Davies, Simic and Reindorf, I think we're actually OK for centre-forwards. Of course, if we lose Salech, that's another thing entirely, but I think we need to cash out on Robinson now before he gets too old.
I'm not anti-Robinson, he's an important player, but we need to make cuts and we have to make tough decisions. I considered Chambers a tough decision, but still decided to say he should be cut for the sake of money and cashing in while we still can on him.
And yes, in League One, ideally all of those players score more, except for Etete who can't get on the Bolton team.

7+2+0+0 =9 goals totally, 16 if you give Salech a full season. At least 60 short of what we’ll need.

mark Harris got 15 goals in league one.

We are playing easier opponents, Davies has been injured most of the season, and Simic and Reindorf haven't played first-time football. And it's not only strikers who score goals, wingers and midfielders get a few, and even defenders might get a couple.

Yet according to you we've got Reindorf, a player who couldn't get into a relegated Bristol Rovers team, not even when they had a striker crisis brought about through injury. :hehe:
-
Re: The Transfer Rumour Thread
We bought him for £1.75 mill, WBA took a pretty hefty loss.
In that time, he has sustained a long term injury, lost a yard of pace and scored 18 goals over 130 games. He is now 30 and IMO can only be a lone striker in a really good passing team and he isn't going to back in and battle nor is he running in behind.
I doubt we'll get a fee for him.

Difference being, Reindorf is younger and has a lot of upside based on his U21 performances. I've seen enough of Etete to make a judgement, but I haven't Reindorf.
