Who would be your choice...
... out of these managers who've all been linked?
-
Re: Who would be your choice...
Out of Beale , Evatt , Buckingham , Ramsey.
Then Ramsey by a distance.
Seeing as those they are paying for outside advice then hopefully the short list is far better than the above options.

Why Ramsey by a distance? What do you see in him, because I can't make any calls on his ability to manage. Just a personal preference?

Ramsey has no meaningful managerial experience. Sounds like a great fit.

I would just prefer to have Ramsey along with the coaching staff he brought in and see if he can make his mark at this level.
Id like to think hes learned from the coaching staff hes worked at during his career.
Evatt and Buckingham. Both recently sacked dont inspire me with any confidence and let's just forget Michael Beale.
I'm only saying id prefer Ramsey to those lot.
As they've hired and are paying for advice then I'm hoping better candidates are being considered and it's someone not currently linked.
If it's between Evatt and Buckingham then why waste more money for advice if that's what they come up with. I think its highly likely both have applied.
If Rob Page is being considered mind id happily drive Evatt or Buckingham here.

Re: Who would be your choice...
Wasted vote by me, I went for Wellens.
-
Re: Who would be your choice...
I voted Jones but i don't think its even a possibility. We need a builder, and thats what he does, build teams.
Challinor, Evatt, Edwards & Buckingham have promotion on their CV, Wellens may have, but there are lots of sackings to boot.
Rambo, Elphick, Beale and Selles haven't won many accolades in management, I want form in the book, not potential.
If Jones is non starter then i don't care out of Challinor, Evatt, Edwards or Buckingham

Re: Who would be your choice...
I picked Ramsey, the others do not impress me at all. I thought that the three games that he and Gunter managed were ok and seemed the ideal partnership. A lot on here dismiss him because of our experience with unqualified managers in the past, but those two looked like a good partnership, and we could regret not giving them a chance

Re: Who would be your choice...
I cant access the full site so can't see all the options.
Elphick I know little about. But I would have thought he'd be the type of candidate that we are paying consultants to look at.
Hopefully there are more being looked at but a manager with L1 experience seems popular including with our own Trust.

Re: Who would be your choice...
Ok got on now. I voted Ramsey.
I didn't consider the in work managers as I think its a wasted vote.

Come on then, own up, who was it that voted for Beale?

Swansea Fan?🤣

Re: Who would be your choice...
I voted Selles as the most realistic option, though I'd like Edwards and Jones even more honestly.
-
Re: Who would be your choice...
The only decent experience that Ramsey can call on is from being in close proximity to those who couldn't do the job.

Such as Arsene Wenger, Gary Speed, Ryan Giggs, Dave Jones, and Chris Coleman.

Re: Who would be your choice...
I’ve voted Challinor but the L1 play-off final could be an audition. Loser gets the job!

I can’t see the poll but I’d go Ramsey ONLY IF we have a director of football
-
Re: Who would be your choice...
I think the fact Buckingham hasn’t got a vote yet shows the strength of the field open to City - always assuming they’d be willing to work for Tan. Five of the candidates are out of work and I’d be happy with all of them bar Beale - will City go for the best option or will it be the cheapest one yet again?

Don’t think there’s a chance of him coming here - he could well see it as a downward move and I’d say we’d have to wait until mid June at the earliest for him to arrive here, which seems too long to wait for me.

I’m sort of hoping the delay is down to the fact that they are waiting for the loser of jones v wellens. I’d take either. Or I’d be happy with challinor.

Re: Who would be your choice...
Not going to be Beale (or Gerrard) according to BBC.
-
Re: Who would be your choice...
These polls shows how little this site is used by the small numbers that voted in a 24 hour period. Back in days of youn' there would have been many more votes
-
Re: Who would be your choice...
I went for Ramsey, as I feel he'd only take it if we got change at the top. That's more meaningful than anything else.
If we could get that change, and someone else, I'd go for Selles

Sorry, I meant to say recent rather than decent.

Re: Who would be your choice...
The Ramsey business amuses me no end.
For most of last season we had a guy who had a decade of coaching experience at various levels but practically zero managerial experience, and it was a disaster. Now there are some fans who genuinely want to see a guy appointed who has zero coaching experience and zero managerial experience. It's bonkers.
If Ramsey had emerged from Bristol City's academy and become an England international, nobody would want him anywhere near the job. But because he came through our academy and he's Welsh...

Ramsey has openly spoken about the need to restructure the football club at the top. That is the most important thing. We can appoint any manager but they’re set up to fail without change as there’s no structure and the recruitment is a joke. He wouldn’t be in the running for me if we were run properly but we aren’t and we need a manager who can force that through.
-
Re: Who would be your choice...
At least we’ve saved the club some money and have a decent shortlist of Selles, Challinor, Jones & Wellens

Hang on... Ramsey tells those who are overseeing his recruitment that they need to go - how's that going to work out?

Bale buys the club?

Bellamy spent years working with Kompany learning his trade.
Literally no-one would want Ramsey anywhere near the job if he wasn't from the academy. It's like no-one has learned from Morison, Hudson and Riza. You can't just give these guys jobs based on vibes, they at least need to display some experience coaching at a decent level before throwing them into a management gig or it's going to fall flat again

I have to admit to never having heard of Evatt before his name came up as a possible managerial candidate here.
So I read about him and it isn’t clear (to me anyway) what makes him a stand out candidate. Promotion from L2 and the EFL Trophy is decent but what am I missing?

I'll back Ramsey if he's chosen, but I want better.
