We've got a squad who finished bottom.
Needs players out and in.
Let's see where we are in 4-6 weeks.
Seeing Horvarth , Chambers and Willock in people's best 11 sums up the squad. Poor.
Replace them with better and we've a play off shout. Keep Salech and 3-4 quality signings and we could have a real promotion push.
It won't have gone unnoticed but Birmingham not only had the best XI last season but also a big squad. We can follow suit. I think we'll be ok.
Mid table.
No
No chance we will cruise it. If we aren’t in or around the playoffs think it will be a very poor season, but really depends on the kind of summer we have.
Considering how this group of players have performed in recent seasons, it's hard to imagine. Lets see who we bring in and what affect the new manager has on the players.
got to be in with a shout of top 2
Salech will cause most defences problems for 60 mins, Could do with a Sparky Harris type of player
Anyone who thinks we can do well (top 2) or even play offs are wild optimists
We are not a team !
All last season we looked like 11 fellas who had just met in a pub
With our squad, we should do. It will depend on signing a dominant centre back and how BBM performs as manager/coach.
I'm looking forward to the season, it will be the most exciting/interesting in years
Unless the attitude of the players improves in. terms of facing up to the physical and mental challenges they'll face every week, I struggle to see how a new manager and coach/assistant (no matter how highly regarded they are) are going to turn them into title winners - while every one around them scrapped like tigers to avoid the drop, we felt sorry for ourselves and meekly succumbed to our fate.
We can forget about even fighting for a top six place if the attitude of the squad is the same as last season.
Personal responsibility had vanished from the team last season, maybe because they had given up on the coach, given up the fight because they lost belief, or just couldn’t give a toss?
There’s a few who have the wrong attitude.
BBM might start by giving them all a clean sheet, who knows? He came across as confident and assured in the interview and appears determined to succeed, let’s hope his philosophy starts with players being accountable for their own actions and work ethic
Definitely needs some key additions with the right personality as well as ability.
If we can do that and keep Salech we would have a chance.
As it stands it's a team that's used to not winning and at times seemed happy with a point even when it wasn't really good enough. It's some switch to be top 2 winning most matches even in a league below.
Birmingham showed it could be done,.people will say they spent x amount on Stansfield but they also had him the season before when they were relegated. They clearly did some other very important business.
Worryingly it looks historically quite a hard division to bounce back out of at the first time of asking.
I cannot agree more. The BBM expectation for 2025/6 is already growing to unrealistic levels. He looks like a thoroughly decent chap, with all his coaching badges and some experience working at bigger clubs and managing one small one earlier in his career. He is not Pep / Klopp or Sir Alex - some of the things being said are ridiculous. Most of the players at CCS have had an easy ride for years, the whole ethos of the squad needs to change.
Let's tone it down and I for one would be very happy getting into the play offs come next May.
it's entirely possible that we will be a strong side at league one level.
when you look at the players over the years who have struggled in the championship but been top league one players its entirely feasible that we will get significantly more output from a number of players.
It doesn't tend to work out like that for sure - more often than not relegated teams are mid table ish for a season or two.
However I don't see us losing to many of our better players. Most of the out of contract players are ones we wou;d be wanting to move on anyway. We have some good youngsters coming through and if the new manager gets us to click there's no reason we couldn't win this thing.
I won't be putting money on it though
Absolutely.
I think the squad was “too good” to go down last season and I also think as much as I’ve been one of his biggest critics, Colwill will shine too.
Thought league one would be a disaster for the club, but I’ve put that behind me and now just looking forward to the season
We won't cruise it but if we're not fighting for top 6 I'll be very disappointed. With all due respect to him, Mark Harris scored 20 goals in this league
No chance. There are some some decent clubs in this division including Reading. You may make the play offs but beyond that it's impossible to say. I would expect Bolton, Orient, Barnsley and Blackpool to be strong along with Reading and Cardiff.
A winning season at home would make a really pleasant change from the norm
Our centre halves are Fish and Daland - Fish is both slow and weak at least Daland is quicker but jelly like in strength
Our left back is Bagan who is bang average League 2 level) our right back played like a tit last season
Jelly like and not capable of keeping a clean sheet
Whilst I think we'll stay up - it'll be bloody close
As for walking it you're having a laugh
p1ssing about with it whilst passing it slowly forwards whilst the opposition hump it down the middle for Fish to completely miss it whilst Daland falls over
I''m not hopeful at all
We need pace and we need steel
We have neither
BBM was probably the last thing we needed for this coming season. So far we've been promised exciting attractive football to reward the fans and also we're going to 'win the league'. It's fantasy island stuff. We needed an experience manager to change the squad into something that can compete, be hard to beat and above all, win matches. All I've heard from him and the club is how nice the football's going to be and we're giving youth a chance. Absolutely clueless football club, as always.
Absolutely spot on. The over enthusiastic nonsense / unrealistic targers won't help when reality sets in.
I think TLG had it right - let's all take a vacation - talk of best XI's is a bit silly in my opinion as the new manager could have a thorough clear out for all we know. But positivity isn't a bad thing!!
What’s the betting odds at the moment ?
We might cruise to Plymouth and Blackpool?
1 Luton
2 Cardiff
3 Plymouth
4 Huddersfield
5 Bolton
6 Stockport (is Bredbury Hall still going)
Makes a change, we are normally in the 20s

As it stands, there is no chance this lot are getting promoted from League one. We're gonna need grit fight right through the spine of the team, particularly centre back and centre midfield. Without those two positions filled, we've got no hope.
we played one league one side last season, and it was an extremely comfortable home win
The side had Kpakio, Bagan, Giles, King, Conte in and even Kanga up front and they won easily.
Rubin Colwill was man of the match and ran the show.
Yes Rovers were relegated come the end of the season, but we will also be able to put out a much stronger side than that also.
This squad should be competing for automatic promotion
We couldn't cruise down Bute street in a Buick Riviera American Cruiser driven by Tom Cruise.
To sum up tasks for BBM from this thread
Not a team
Physical & mental challenges
Attitude
Personal responsibility
I’ve made my point clear many times before, to be in the top 2, you need 80+ goals per season. We therefore need to find another 30 or 40 goals. Salech, Robinson, Davies, Etete are not going to achieve that. Our priorities shouldn’t be goalkeepers, defenders, midfield, it should me goalscorers, from whatever position on the pitch. Birmingham had 22 different goalscorers last season, 8 of them contributed 5 or more.
Personally I’m not sure aiming for and expecting promotion is the right way of thinking about the coming season. I would be very happy to see commitment from the players, playing football that is attractive to arch and will get me out of my seat applauding their efforts.
If this happens then I could easily conceive a promotion push the following season.
I desperately want BBM to succeed but I’ve been burned too many times by the clowns that runs my club.
Why doesn’t Dalman and Choo fk off back to selling cars.
