What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
These are the three signings I think we need the most going forward.
1: A tough as nails CB, similar in profile to Goutas who will not be bullied off the ball, is rough and tumble, will get up immediately after getting down and is used to the scraps of lower Leagues.
2: A LB cover for Bagan. Collins and Rinomhota are both gone, and we're screwed if Bagan gets injured or suspended, and Bagan is a card magnet. Obviously, the higher quality, the better.
3: A winger with quality crossing and ability to playmake. One that is adaptable to play either wing is ideal, but we can make it work. I'd personally pair him with Ashford, with Davies and Tanner as substitute options. Willock can be a reserve/in emergency, break glass for the season.

Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
I think we need a starting LB with Bagan being cover.
at least one winger.
A combative mobile central midfielder - I know the CBs have looked pretty ropey, in both games, but I think that's partly because our midfield can be very porous
-
Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
I think we could do with a full back who could play on both sides, a centreback who is an organiser and can cope with the physical side of things, the sort of winger you talk about and, if, as I suspect we will, we sell a midfielder, then we’ll need someone to come in there as well.

Yeah, I'm happy with Bagan being cover, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if Bagan is the starter. Depends how much we're willing to spend, but I'm obviously happy if we get someone better in.
I think Joel has looked quite good in being combative so far, I think the midfield is the strongest part of our team at the moment, it's just about getting consistent performances and putting in effort every game.

Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
Absolute priority is a CB.
Even if we don't sign anybody id start to worry about BBM if Chambers lines up there next game.
I think to challenge for the play offs we need at least another 4 straight in the team players all over the pitch.
I dont think the clowns will back the manager though.
However CB he should be kicking in their door demanding a dominant player.
-
Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
A leader, I don’t care where they play
-
Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
According to our manager/coach..
"So we want to buy goalkeeper and one other, then the other two will probably be loans.
"We don't really need that many new players. I think the squad is pretty good."
I think he said previously he was waiting for PL clubs to finalise their squads before making approaches for loans, but I'd doubt they're going to be anything special, most with league experience that are available will go to PL or Championship clubs. Which leaves ONE signing.

The emergency position is CB. It was criminal last how PV won nearly all the set piece delivery into our box. If I was Darren Moore I would be pissed off that at least one of them didn't go in.
Got better when Fish came on but Chambers seems like an accident waiting to happen. We need a dominant CH to play along side Fish

Definitely need a strong CB to play alongside Lawlor or Fish or maybe both in some games, Chambers is not what we need right now
A LB who can play on the right if needed
A winger who can beat a defender and put a decent cross in
We could also do with a domineering striker as cover for Salech, almost like a LFW no nonsense no fear operator who can let an opposing defender know that he’s there, Salech is going to be targeted no doubt about that and we need someone who can help lighten the load for him
Wycombe used to have a big lump up front who looked like he could really handle himself, he’s name escapes me now but that sort of target man

Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
4 players for me:
1 - Strong CB who can organise the rest of the defence
2 - Strong CM who can influence the game
3 - Another left back as we only have one
4 - Pacy winger
1&2 need to be older and experienced, 3&4 could be young loanees.

And a strong centre forward who can deputise for Salech.

Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
2 for me to start
a gnarly CB and a even Gnarlier CM or CDM
I stumbled across the Leeds V city FA cup game last night on YouTube, saw kav and thought he would fit in well with what it appears BBM wants and is just want we need at the mo
-
Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
Having said that three of the four teams kicking off at lunchtime have a centre forward starting who is shorter than Robinson.
-
Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
So reading the above, someone for each position.
My opinion.
#1 A commanding Centre half (or two) > Daland out
#2 A winger who can take people on & cross > Willock out
#3 A left fullback > Collins replacement
#4 Another centre forward > Etete / Simic replacement
-

Think we might need a central midfielder to replace the one that leaves.

Who's leaving ?
-
Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
At least five players including two veterans with proven leadership skills. One in central defence and one in midfield. There are going to be a lot of tough sides that are going to try to bully us this season. We need a bigger squad. We need men in the team.

agree with above.
Bagan has to be the cover for LB.... he's too one dimentional to play a FB the way BBM seems to want. most his passes go to the CB, seems unable to play it down the line or naturally support the attack.
Wintle in both games so far showed his set peice balls are still poor - whilst he seems a Lg1 DM his quality for a dead ball is non existant. I think Robertson might go so if one comes in, a decent delivery from 40yard freekicks would help
-
Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
Flipping through some of the games this morning, almost every team has more pace, physicality and moves the ball forward quicker than us.
Think CB and CM are the two most important positions but also if we don’t get upgrades on the wing I can’t see us doing much.

I don't know why he's on set piece delivery, it's as balmy as Bulut playing him in the 10 role.

Left back is constantly the position that everyone says needs strengthening
Yet Sean Morrison seemed to think on Sky on Thursday that lt was a right back we needed.
So having one who can play both sides is a good call
-
Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
Nobody has mentioned the most important thing......the willingness by the owner to loosen the purse strings.

Sounds like that time we signed Robbie James and Kevin Ratcliffe.

Same for us at the back, we need an experienced Sean Morrison no nonsense type of CB to help take the pressure off the likes of Lawlor and Fish

Before his loan to Millwall, Wintle was taking flak for his poor set-piece deliveries (remember last season when he hit two consecutive dead-ball kicks straight at the opposition and then had the gall to turn to the crowd and tell them to pipe down?). His passing in open play is also limited. So who in their right mind would think we need to get Wintle on the ball for set-pieces?
He took the free-kick awarded for Salech getting a kick to the mouth. It wasn't a ludicrous distance to have had a try, at least force a save from the 'keeper. Instead, he pushes the ball out wide to Tanner, who then returns it to Wintle, who is now in a slightly forward position, but he hits a poor 'shot' straight at a Vale player in the box.

I don't know why we don't just stick Colwill on all of the attacking free kicks, proven himself capable of taking them and its hardly like he's a dominant presence in the box

At the moment a friggin’ miracle.

Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
We need to sign players even just to ease the pressure on the youngsters who, all of a sudden, from being on the fringes of the squad, are now first choice.

Utterly bizarre, scored a brilliant free kick against Peterboro and then didn't take any of the free kicks in the next game, including at least one from a similar area. You'd have thought the fact that Wintle is proven to be shite at dead balls and the threat that he scored from there the previous game he'd be an obvious choice.
I suspect that the fact he's got some height means he's shoved in the box, but like you said he's no threat to score.

Re: What do we need going forward, transfer-wise?
Winger
Left Back
Defensive mid
All of them quick, all of them to start. A centre half would be my next option with Daland to leave. We need pace, we are crying out for it. 3 quick players would transform us, I'd love a quick defensive mid who can receive the ball off the back 4 but also just give it to the better players and break up play.

Yup, you and I can see it.

Personally, I would play Daland ahead of Chambers every time. At least he seems to have some potential.

Players, to leave. Turnball Alnwick Howarth possibly Daland
