He had plenty of chances tonight...and fluffed his lines.
He didn't get the service.
The referee didn't protect him.
He's young, he'll improve.
He had an off day.
Actually, he's garbage, though [on this board] it's just you and me who think that. Funny enough, everyone at the game tonight around me, also think he's completely useless.
It could have been lost in the match thread. I made a separate post to highlight our problem...we haven't a good enough striker in the squad.
As an aside, KM scores a hat trick last night.
he did well for the goal that was disallowed, really good centre forward play.
He blew the whistle after Salech had taken his shot, it's semantics as to whether it was a disallowed goal or not.
My lad thought something Salech may have done something wrong because he, and other players, didn't surround the ref after but as the whistle had gone before the ball crossed the line there wouldn't have been any point. As far as I can make out it was good centre forward play to get ahead of the defender and an accurate shot after. I'm not sure what 'KM' or any other forward could've done better.
The biggest problem with Salech at the moment is he seemingly wants to engage in a physical battle with the opposition at every opportunity and he commits a lot of fouls while doing so - he's frequently wrestling with opponents and pulling their shirts. He's also grizzling to referees on a regular basis, often from very early on in games.
I like his aggression and commitment, but he does seem to take things too far on occasions. He's not particularly subtle and isn't doing himself any favours.
Just reading Paul's blog. In it he said:
"City, especially Yousef Salech, will feel that referee Jacob Miles’ decision to disallow his first half goal changed the game. Certainly, it was the sort of decision Salech just doesn’t get given in his favour in this division and I thought it was a poor call by the ref to rule that our centre forward had committed a foul.
"However, I’m not too sympathetic towards our striker this time because he’d already had two headed chances that he could have done better with and there were a couple more opportunities he got wrong in a second half where, at times, it looked like he was more concerned with carrying on a running battle with Burton defenders or arguing the toss with the officials."
Paul's nailed it there I reckon, and last night wasn't an isolated situation by any means.

that's good centre forward play in my books
Chambers, Turnbull and now Salech. Who's next player to be drawn out of the CCMB Scapegoat Bingo?
The only excuse I can see for the referee giving the foul is that he only saw Salech "fouling" the defender rather than seeing the entire passage of play where the defender was grabbing Salech first. Not sure I agree that Salech is looking for the physical battle with the defenders this season, it seems it's the other way round, and they are looking to grab/ assault him from the get-go. If we put in more crosses to him, surely the law of averages would mean more of his attempts would go unpunished for perceived fouls and he'd score more?
Easy to forget he’s a young lad too with lots to learn.
He’s younger than Isaak Davies for example, and only a few months older than Rubin.
Yep harsh as I don't think it's anywhere near enough to push the defender over but the ref probably only sees Salech have his arms out.
Defender buys it or naturally loses his balance as he has been beaten by a good ball and movement.
I don't think it's a foul but another slightly naive moment to give the ref the chance to blow.
Heres what I said Billy Liar.
As good as he’s looked at times, especially joining in the attack, he’s also been caught ot plenty of times defensively in League One games so far too, you just don’t get punished as often at that level so it doesn’t compound the mistake. He was lucky not to throw 2 points away against Peterborough only Turner bailed him out.
Hes only 18 so there’s going to be ups and downs but people are going a bit overboard imo. I think he needs to concentrate on establishing himself with City before people start making out he’s the next Trent.
Pop along to the loonys forum and try and get a bite off Sludge because these efforts are utterly embarrasing.

Thats shocking a good young player making his welsh debut and you're on his back, show me where he or anyone has said he was the next Trent?
I think you would have followed it up with much more, if you weren't pulled up on it early, you've ralised the error of your ways thankfully.
How about this -
"Kpakio is nowhere near ready for international football yet. Bellers will be doing the kid more harm than good if he continues to select him. Concentrate on establishing himself with City andstart getting international experience in the under 21s. hes not some wonderkid who is so good he can skip an age group."
He clearly is as he has been called up again, do you think you know more than Bellamy and BBM who regurlary picks him? :hehe:
Well if the Canada game is anything to go by, JR is correct.
Could it be Bellamy is just locking a player down from being poached in case he comes good enough to be a frequent contributor to the team. Everyone thought Woodburn was the next big thing, turns out he was a pile of shit.
