I wonder how many squads don’t have a number nine, there can’t be many surely?
I see Kieron Evans has a squad number, but I don’t think he’s played any football yet this pre season.

9 is for Bale of course.
Smithies wanted 25 something to do with a friend that died.

Bale had 9 at Spurs last season…
We’ve also got 12 and 13 free. Maybe we’ll be making more signings…
Re: Squad numbers announced
According to TransferMarkt.co.uk the following players are entering final season of their current contracts:
4. MORRISON, Sean (C)
5. FLINT, Aden
6. VAULKS, Will
8. RALLS, Joe
11. MURPHY, Josh
14. VASSELL, Isaac
17. TOMLIN, Lee
21. PACK, Marlon
25. SMITHIES, Alex
Bonus:
26. GILES, Ryan (end of loan deal)
30. BROWN, Ciaron (no information on when contract expires)
Contract renewals are going to be as big for us this year as new signings and will tell us a lot about what sort of side we'll be going forward.

Re: Squad numbers announced
NG being a fullback makes more sense wearing the number 2

Yeah I thought that was odd, guess he likes his number.
Re: Squad numbers announced
Vassel has injured himself with a needle sewing the numbers on. Latest estimate is that it’ll keep him out till after Christmas.

I've a feeling even if they want to they may not get new deals unless they accept much lower terms.
I don't think we can afford PL wages anymore.
Re: Squad numbers announced
Quite a few u23s have been given squad numbers in recent years, but this time it feels different.
There are 28 players in the list. 4 of them have come from the u23s this summer; 5 of them broke through from the u23s (a few after decent loan spells) last season. Whether it is financial constraints, the quality of Cardiff's 'golden generation' or the willingness of the manager to play youth, I can see all of them getting a chance again this season.
George Ratcliffe is now No3 keeper. No senior roadblock like Joe Day or Brian Murphy or (why?) Chris Konopka in front of him. Good.
Re: Squad numbers announced
McGuinnesss at 2 - an indication he's going to be a starter?

I had to google Chris Konopka, he went below my radar.

"Browny is in his last year [of his contract]. So if Neil Wants to offer something that's anywhere near our valuation, even though the player has only got 12 months to run, then we may have to sell him. We don't want him to go on a free transfer."

Brown set to leave us next year unless extended as well then. It would be difficult to understand (*cough* money) if he leaves Mick to go work under Warnock again considering who has given him a real chance.
Re: Squad numbers announced
Who were 35 and 40 yesterday?
Re: Squad numbers announced
Zimba and Davies (T) probably as they were the two to feature who don't have a squad number listed above. Not sure which was 40 and which was 35
