Cardiff City hit by four Covid cases and brutal injury list

“Tom Sang has had to have an injection after his toe surgery. Sean Morrison’s had a dislocated elbow and he’s still recovering from that.

Joel Bagan had a dislocated shoulder. Rubin and Kieffer have come back from international so they’ve had a break and then they’ve got Covid, so they’re only just back in training.

Leo Bacuna went away on international duty, again isolating with Covid. Nels has had a hernia operation and Murph has had a hamstring so he’s only trained this week.

Rubin and Kieffer, they’re coming back with protocols at 70 per cent so they can’t train fully.

We’ll see but I can’t see them all being fit for the first game.”

It was Rubin Colwill who was away on international duty, not Joel Bagan :facepalm:

I watched that interview on the club website and I may be wrong here, but I thought Mick McCarthy could have been talking about Moore, Colwill and Bacuna all having to self isolate after returning from international duty.

How can Kieffer be bloody injured, he’s not done a sodding thing for weeks

Yes that's right. WOL are awful. Those three players have had to isolate because they've been abroad.

I know WOL is bad but this would take it to a whole new level for me.

Mick said all three had caught Covid (as had Ng) and were recovering.

Colwill and Moore were in the stands last night and not isolating any more. I didn't see Bacuna with them in the match coverage.

I am aware of that.

But the probability of three vaccinated individuals getting it (with the AZ having an efficacy of 60% against the delta variant) is low: around 0.064. (Assuming they are independent events.)

Have any of the other members of the Welsh squad got Covid-19 post Euro 20/21?

Maybe he just knows that all 4 players (Moore, Colwill, Bacuna, Ng) have tested positive for Covid?

Just as he knew that 19 players at Nicosia had tested positive and had to quarantine and recover?

Why are you worried by his talk? If it is an excuse for players not being available, it is a pretty good one!

It’s part of a whole course of conduct, ( perhaps). I keep getting the impression that he’s lowering expectations at every opportunity and that he’s not terribly committed to achieving anything other than keeping the accountants happy.
