Coventry v Rotherham match postponed.
I try not to get all old fogeyish and carry on about what things were like in my day, but when I think back to what pitches were like from about October onwards in my youth, this takes some understanding - even so, the whole thing seems pretty amateurish I’m not sure why it was, apparently, impossible to switch the game to Rotherham.

Re: Coventry v Rotherham match postponed.
I almost posted this earlier. It raises some interesting questions.
I wondered what the EFL stance is on a match postponed for this reason. Will they treat it like a frozen pitch where the postponement is just unfortunate (working undersoil heating is not a requirement is it?). Or will Coventry be held responsible for their failure to fulfil a fixture at their home stadium - with a fine or forfeiture the consequence?
I assume there will be an exchange of letters and the game will be played later in the season (disadvantaging both teams), but the EFL won't want to make a big deal of it?

Are Coventry trying to make it sound like they couldn’t get to work on the pitch because of the Commonwealth Games or am reading something into it that isn’t there?
I’d guess the whole thing will be quietly forgotten and the game will be played in the autumn when both sides are out of the League Cup.
Re: Coventry v Rotherham match postponed.
they have had a lot of Rugby games played on the pitch for the commonwealth though, we know the rugger lot like to churn up pitches, won need to risk players this early on in the season imho

Coventry signed a new 10 year lease agreement for use of the Coventry Building Society (formerly Ricoh) Stadium late last year.
But they are sub tenants. I can't remember if Wasps are now the prime tenants or owners (is that Sisu?). But it is used by Wasps for their home matches and was leased out for Commonwealth Games Rugby 7s matches (with a provision that Coventry City could come back to use it for their home match with Rotherham before the end of that additional lease agreement). They don't control the use of the stadium and can't ensure the pitch is playable. But I don't know what their responsibilities are to the league or other clubs in the Championship.
Not sure what the score was either when they were camping at Northampton or doing a one season ground share at St Andrews?
They have a long-term plan for relocating to the University of Warwick - on the other side of Coventry - a new stadium that (I think) they would share with the university.

Frozen or waterlogged pitches are one thing - but a pitch made unusable because the stadium owners have cashed in on a rugby competition feels very different to me. The condition that led to postponement was entirely predictable. Coventry couldn't prevent it, but I would have thought they still have some liability if they can't fulfil home fixtures?

Coventry suspend ticket sales for Wednesday's EFL Cup game v Bristol City.
How many home games can they postpone before the regulators step in?
