the worst tourist attraction in Wales
If there is a worse one in Wales than the Taff's well thermal spring then I'd like to hear it.
"Wales' only thermal spring".
It's listed on tripadvisor as a tourist attraction, but if you've ever been there it is just a damp and dirty cave, resembling and smelling like an old fashioned public toilets. Peering through the rusty gate, in the gloom you can just about make out a stagnant pool full of litter and decaying leaves. It must be about the most depressing place you could possibly imagine.
It isn't even a hot spring - the temperature is usually a pretty unpleasant 12-15 C, and I'm sure the water itself would not convey any kind of a health benefit looking at the state of it.

Are The Sun doing a £10 entry voucher thingy?

Re: the worst tourist attraction in Wales
Porthcawl fairground on a spring bank holiday could match that.
Admittedly it was a few years ago but the whole place was in the latter stages of deep neglect.
The ice cream was nice though ( Fulgonis ?)

Re: the worst tourist attraction in Wales
In pre-internet days I did a detour when doing a road trip around the NE corner of the US - to see Quechee Gorge, which was described in promotional literature as Vermont's answer to the Grand Canyon. This is what I saw when I arrived:

As you may have gathered from a previous post, my encounter with Ned Beatty was in Fort William rather than Vermont :-)

I think the Avon Gorge is more imposing than that! :hehe:

Someone could start a pastry competition and call it the Clarkes gorge.

Re: the worst tourist attraction in Wales
Sydney may have Bondi Beach, Rio have Copacabana, but how could they compete with our very own Splott Beach?

Quarry at the top of pen-y-lan hill, if it’s still there.
Not been up there for about 60 years

Wales does have some very good beaches.
Barry would be right up there if it wasn't for town behind.

I always remember the sea at Barry being brown, often with some kind of chemical looking froth to it. Has the water quality improved significantly?

Bit similar to Niagara Falls. The Falls are amazing just don’t look at the town behind you on the Canadian side!
